Couples displaying physical affection to each other in front of others might look cute in photos but is irritating in real life.
When you have company you're supposed to make your guests/friends feel comfortable and that they count. Pawing your wife in front of them gives the opposite impression. There's always time to do that stuff later once you're alone.
