If your parents were going a very low speed, while it probably wouldn't be the smarest thing, you could probably get away with a kid in your lap because at that speed it was unlike you would go through the windshield if an acccident occured. The car in front of them stopped short and when the mother hit her brakes, her baby was killed when he hit the dashboard. There were chest cavity and head and neck injuries. This was before air bags...and it wasn't a high speed accident. So, NO, it's not a good idea to do it at any speed in any situation. New mom or not... stop making excuses. 'Nuff said.

Annon 3:00PM - there is a difference between now and when you were a kid and that is called airbags. If your parents were going a very low speed, while it probably wouldn't be the smarest thing, you could probably get away with a kid in your lap because at that speed it was unlike you would go through the windshield if an acccident occured. Now a days if she gets in the most minor fender bender those bags will go off and her child dies!!! (personal I don't like airbags but that is whole other subject)

I think my parents did things like put the diaper on wrong, not smiled down the highway with me to protect them in the event of a crash. are you really that dumb? even if britney slams on the brakes at a LOW speed, that baby could go flying. britney doesnt even have damn seat belt on, so shes going forward with any sudden stop as well...but sean will be in between her and the steering wheel. oh, and infants dont tend to have the best head/neck control. that big heavy head snaps backs suddenly enough and thats it for little sean.

Anon 3:00, true story... A mother was riding in traffic with her child on her lap... It was heavy traffic heading along about 10 - 15 mph. The car in front of them stopped short and when the mother hit her brakes, her baby was killed when he hit the dashboard. There were chest cavity and head and neck injuries. This was before air bags...and it wasn't a high speed accident. So, NO, it's not a good idea to do it at any speed in any situation. New mom or not... stop making excuses. 'Nuff said.

Accidents and airbags aside... If she hits the brakes suddenly, the child's head will JERK back causing a neck or brain injury which could be serious, even fatal. He is just several months old, and a baby at that age - the neck could not properly support his head properly and could cause serious injury if jolted.
Ever hear of shaken baby syndrome? Bleeding on the brain? Snapped necks? That is what would happen if she had to slam on her brakes. Now toss in an air bag deploying... and you have a dead baby for sure.
In all my life never ONCE have I seen or witnessed an infant out of a carseat, let alone on a driver's lap. Britney Spears is a stupid selfish girl and I hope the Department of Children and Families investigates how that child is being raised. I also hope they force her and her husband both to attend parenting classes.

I understand that constantly being followed by paparazzi can be frustrating, and I know that paparazzi would do anything for a good shot (Princess Di, anyone?). I know that it must be hard for Britney to have gone from being Americas Sweetheart to having to deal with the public ragging on her for doing what most parents do when they give birth, which is let themselves go. And then there's Kevin, who's apparently not the brightest crayon in the drawer, and he's constantly making up more weird shit, and if I were a friend of Britneys I would listen everytime she needed to vent, because she deserves it.
But there's no excuse for driving without a seatbelt on with your newborn son in your lap, no matter what. If she feels that she needs to take matters into her own hands despite the precence of a bodyguard, she clearly needs to rethink her security-situation. I say get off her back about what she looks like, get off her back about how she chooses to live her life, get off her back about everything that is to be considered her own private matter, but do NOT get off her back about endangering the life of her baby, because that is unforgivable. I'm not saying they should take her son away from her, but they should do a thorough follow-up on her and her son, and they should make sure she knows the consequenses of knowingly endangering the life of a child again.

To me Britney Spears, wasn't prepared or in my opinion qualified to have a baby! I mean first of all how do you have a baby by a man who can't even take care of his other two kids from Shar Jackson. I mean he left her while she was pregnant with his SECOND child! What does that say about the man? She's an idiot, he gets all of his money from Britney so she's bascially taking care of Shar's kids! Now she wants to get out of the relationship when she gets pregnant with Kevin's fourth child, a kid that he's not even going to take care of!
