Kate Beckinsale is Probably Wonder Woman
British actress Kate Beckinsale is now the favorite to grab the coveted lead in Joss Whedon's upcoming film, Wonder Woman. There have been several actresses linked to the role such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Connelly, Salma Hayek, Mischa Barton, Michelle Rodriguez, Rachel Bilson; and two, Lindsay Lohan and Charisma Carpenter, have basically begged to get the part. Josh Whedon, creator of Angel and Firefly, is said to be "very happy" with Beckinsale and revealed the movie will begin shooting in September.A few of these names just sound too ridiculous to even be considered - Katie Holmes (too crazy), Salma Hayek (too stacked), Michelle Rodriguez (Wonder "Woman"), Jennifer Connelly (too classic), Mischa Barton (way too skinny), Lindsay Lohan (um). Based on my own experience, Joss Whedon's penis is now waging an internal war trying to decide on the two obvious choices - Charisma Carpenter and Kate Beckinsale. I know Wonder Woman is supposed to be all American even though she is a princess from an Amazon warrior tribe, but a British woman and a shitty actress from Las Vegas would both be equally hot poured into that costume. I would have to give the edge to Carpenter for two obvious reasons.

I still believe there should be no doubt about Aishwarya Rai. Exotic, a few notches further from just beautiful, has an accent, tanned, "fills" the costume. She's got it all!

I don't get when April Fool's Day jokes are so realistic though. I don't see how a website saying someone was cast for a movie role and then saying "April Fool's!" is really that humorous. (And yeah, I get that all the stuff about the boob job and everything was supposed to make it more joke-y, but still... not really that clever.)
IMDB buying it, however? Fan-freaking-tastic!

Charisma Carpenter (WTF is that name) shouldn't get the part because she has NO WAIST at all. And a Wonder Woman without waist is like Superman being played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Beckinsale has a waist. I think if Jennifer Connely started eating some burgers she could get the part, tho.

Jennifer Connelly "is" Wonder Woman. She looks the part so much that Adam Hughes' interpretation of the character is based on her. Besides, she's one of the most beautiful women ever and a great, Oscar winning actress.

I agree with Anonymous 6:07, Jennifer Connelly would be perfect! Can't believe I didn't think of it myself, as I'm a huge fan of hers. She's beautiful and classy, so fits the part of a hero perfectly. And she's not remotely trashy, unlike most of the other options mentioned.

hey, I googled Bipasha Basu. Didn't know her, she's zeromirkingly HOT indeed. But for the part, I'd still go for Aishu. She's more the type, I guess.
Also, yes, Jennifer Connelly *is* Wonder Woman in all possible senses, but we all know that ain't gonna happen, right? She has been considered "too old" for the part - in my age scale, she's a perfect 10, of course, tending to 11.

And I would have to second Morena Baccarin. She's exotic, curvy, and definitely looks the part. I think in a superhero movie, the acting is almost always second to that.
Sadly, I do think Jennifer Connelly is a bit old for this. She'd be awesome, though.

I think its hilarious that Rachel Bilson is being mentioned as "linked to the role". Sure, she dressed up as Wonder Woman on the OC and she looked KILLER in the outfit but in the movie? C'mon, she's teensy tiny to start with! At 5'2" and barely 100 lbs she is far from the amazon that Wonder Woman was.

I always thought Evangeline Lilly would be perfect for the part.
Morena Baccarin would be a good choice too but she's not yet an established actress.
Summer Glau is far too young...
And I would rather cast Kate Beckinsale or Charisma Carpenter over Milla Jovovich any day!!!
