• Memento is one of my favorite movies as well. I didn't know the entire batman franchise was going to be redone. I think if they start using idiotic characters like 'the penguin' this new genre of batman is going to go downhill pretty quick. Batman Bgins was amazing by the way, and christian bale is the best batman ever to grace the screen. And what in the fuck did jennifer connely do to her hair? she looks like an idiot.

• speaking of heath ledger and jake gyllenhaal......i just saw brokeback mountain this past friday night for the first time. well its for a research paper about psychological disorders and my teacher "challenged" me to watch it and i did and loved it. its a very sad movie.

• What a horrible choice, I still would like to see Mark Hamill play the part, because he has the creepiness voice and the craziest joker presence…over some Ausie who doesn’t fit the joker’s personality or looks at all…what a bad choice. Since when did the joker become an Australian? Or I would have gone as far to say I would have picked Robin Williams creepy demeanor. They could have at least had an open casting call to find someone like Mark Hamill or Joker type actor.
  
  Where did “The Guy Who Likes Penises” come from, no pun intended? I don’t EVER recall a character like that in the batman comics or cartoon…that already sounds stupid…And who came up with the bright idea of Ryan Phillpe, He doesn't have the presence of a man, tall, broad shouldered, dark hair Harvey Dent type. As for Philip Seymour Hoffman to play the penguin…is the only thing I agree on.

• 1. there were more straight sex scenes in brokeback mountain than there were gay sex scenes. precisely...only 1 gay scene. they showed them in more straight situations than they did in they gay situations (when they got together).

  I just wanted to point out that the writer and director of memento and the writer attached to the Batman Begins sequel is Christopher Nolan (not Johnathan). Don't mean to be nit picky, but he's one of my favorite filmmakers so I had to say something!

• Simple and direct: Ryan Phillipe is so not Harvey Dent. After this terrible Ledger miscasting, they should rethink this part as well. Liev Schreiber is still the man for that! And Philipe Seymour-Hoffman as the Penguin would kill me. That'd make it up for every possible miscasting. I'm pretty sure that, if the role comes out very well-written, Hoffman's performance would be memorable.
  
  BTW, straight guy here. It's not just a matter of "I think", but a matter of objectivity: Ledger, Gylenhaal, Bettany and other guys are good looking. They just are. Now, look at this rejuvenated Jennifer Connelly... She's absolutely AMAZING again, as she used to be before moving to Ethiopia-state-of-mind. All this people are in this industry for a reason. I do prefer Connelly (and Johansson and Aishu and Biel), but if someone likes the dudes and see their appeal, well, that's not hard to understand. I just don't see the same.

• Bettany would've been perfect. Seeing him opposite Ledger in 'A Knight's Tale', it's clear who has the better acting chops of the two (and it isn't the Aussie).
  
  As for questioning whether Bettany actually couldn't "pull it off" at the audition (and I doubt he even read for the part, given that he's stated in more than one interview that no one had ever even approached him about it), all you need to do is watch his 'A Knight's Tale' performance back to back with 'Ganster No. 1' and there you have it . . . the Joker in the flesh. Frankly, I don't think it's remotely possible for the guy to turn in a performance that's any less than brilliant. He even made 'The Da Vinci Code' watchable.
