Honestly, did anyone think she sits in front of a piano and composes anything? No, she spends hours working on her weave. Like 99% of R&B or rap artists, she has less talent than one of Paris Hilton's taint-hairs.
All I have to add to this discussion is this: Britney Spears got writing credits on her songs, apparently for smacking her gum and mooing or something. Beyonce probably came up with the "Ta da leff, ta da leff!" part of her new single and got a writing credit for it, so I have to say the Academy got this one right.

The Halle Berry and Denzel Washington awards were to shut the black people up who keep crying "racist" every year some untalented black actor doesn't win an award. It didn't work. Of course they'll still complain. Halle Berry is only half black by the way. Her mom is whiter than me.

I agree, Denzel shouldn't have won the Oscar for this part. He should have been awarded the Oscar for his work in Glory. Like others have said, sometimes the voters make "mistakes" and compensate later by awarding a worthy actor their vote for a lesser role.

I don't think people care whether she writes her own songs or not when they hear her sing or buy her music. I think Beyonce is very talented, and beautiful. I loved the movie Dreamgirls and thought she did a very good job. If the girl wants to dream about winning an Oscar someday (probably not for this movie though) then why stop her? I don't understand why people say Jennifer Hudson robbed the movie from Beyonce or that Beyonce was upstaged. Dreamgirls is not suppossed to center on Beyonce's character anyway, it's really all about Effie. I don't think it's Beyonce's fault that marketers promote her as the face of this movie. She's an established "star".
Beyonce is a celebrity who is talented. I can appreciate this more when there are present day celebrities, actors and singers, who arn't great at their craft, but are well paid celebrities. Unlike them, she has the talent and work ethic to back up her celebrity and enterprises.
It was the movie "Training Day" where Denzel won the best actor award. It was Russel Crowe in "The Beatiful Mind" who deserved the award that year, not Denzel.

All I have to say is dont believe everything you read. If you have her dvd from the B-Day album package, it shows her in the studio and how she writes. She may not write each song word-for-word, but she does play a major part in each of her songs.
1:29, it's just a rough estimation on my part. Sure, maybe it's more like 80%. The rock and heavy metal bands (and no, I wouldn't be offended, I wouldn't be offended by anything I ever read here...I wish everyone would try to have thicker skin) can play instruments. Most of the R&B people cannot.
I base my theory on this: If I arbitrarily listed 100 R&B and hip hop performers from the past 15 years (Salt n Peppa, Dos Effex, ect...) I would guess that close to 99 of those 100 have very little talent, other than being able to rhyme to a beat from a machine (which just about any non-retarded human can do if they put forth the effort).

Denzel was not the first black man to win an Oscar for Best Actor. Sidney Potier (or however you spell it) did a long time ago. Also, Beyonce has said that she doesn't care if she doesn't get an Oscar. She says that she has plenty of time to win one cause she is young. As for the songwriting, nobody in the industry really writes all their music anyway. Guess what I posted anonymously.
