It's pretty common for a Doc to write a prescription for a medication before the surgery so the patient has it ready...like if you have a knee surgery they will give you a script for pain meds and antibiotics a few days before the surgery. Did anyone notice the dates on all these documents & prescriptions. On 03/05/03 she is prescribed Valtrex for her herpes. Although it clearly states that medicine should not be used by pregnant women. She takes them 2 days later on 03/07/03 she has a miscarriage. Nine days later on 03/18/03 she has an HIV test. I am a nurse and I work on a womens health unit in a hospital, she probably really had a miscarrige. Often they admit patients to the hospital with a miscarrige if they are having heavy bleeding and give them intramuscular methergin or if they are deemed stable they just give them methergin by mouth to take at home to control bleeding until the D&C is done. Also if she was just diagnosed with herpes her doctor probably suggested a HIV test for a later time because HIV will not usually show up until a short time after someone becomes infected.

I work in a hospital, many doctors and OBGYN's will commonly give pregnant women HIV tests to determine risk to the baby. I have a client who found out their HIV+ status during pregnancy. My guess is that with the HIV tests and the RH type being done at the same time it would have been pregnancy related. I am a nurse and I work on a womens health unit in a hospital, she probably really had a miscarrige. Often they admit patients to the hospital with a miscarrige if they are having heavy bleeding and give them intramuscular methergin or if they are deemed stable they just give them methergin by mouth to take at home to control bleeding until the D&C is done. Therefore taking valtrex would not hurt an (sorry for my harsh language) already dead fetus. I work in a hospital, many doctors and OBGYN's will commonly give pregnant women HIV tests to determine risk to the baby. I have a client who found out their HIV+ status during pregnancy. My guess is that with the HIV tests and the RH type being done at the same time it would have been pregnancy related.
