The cause and manner of death were not determined, however, and the investigation remains open.
Dr. Joel A. Perper, chief medical examiner of Broward County, Florida, said there was no indication of blunt-force trauma, asphyxiation or other physical trauma.
Perper said his office is awaiting results of toxicological and other tests, but there were no drugs in her stomach.
"There are a number of possibilities," he said, including natural causes, a drug reaction or some combination of causes.
Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said no evidence suggests a crime occurred.
Tiger said no illegal drugs were found in Smith's hotel room. He said prescription drugs were found, but would not name them.

It can take a very short time for drugs to be absorbed into your system via your stomach and your intestines, yet it can take a relatively long time for the same drugs to leave your system.
So the coroner noting that there were no wads of pills in her stomach or intestines rules out an intentional drug overdose. However it doesn't rule out a drug interaction, or long-term sustained overdose.
For example she could have gotten up at 1am, taken some Methadone, gone back to bed, gotten up at six, taken some cold and flu medicine, then taken more Methadone at seven, anti-depressant at eight, more cold and flu medicine at eleven, felt sick so maybe she took some more at one (see where I'm going with this?). Then by the time they found her collapsed the pills may have already dissolved in her stomach, yet she would have had enough in her system to kill an elephant.
The blood tests will come back in a couple of weeks so we'll see what kind of crap she had in her system then.
It is possible that there were drugs (prescription or illegal) in her blood system. She could have ingested them in other forms besides pill/tablet form; ground, dissolved in liquid, injected, etc.
If she had a gastro-intestinal virus, she may not have taken anything orally because who wants to eat when your sick? And second, she could have thrown them up (the pills could have been partially dissolved).
Drugs are metabolized in the body different ways, and some can linger for only a couple of hours while others lurk for 12 to 24, or more.
Without getting too graphic and grossing people out, I'm sure they will test her blood. But, autopsys (-ies?) also involve testing organ tissues, and that is where drugs traces can be found.

Xanax is an anti-anxiety not antidepressant. I'm a 27 year old professional who has never abused drugs or alcohol BUT I have the following medications via my doctor for some specific health issues that I have:
Xanax - I have severe panic attacks regularly Vicodin - I have chronic shoulder pain from a sports accident Oxycodone - for when the pain is really bad Flexiril - a muscle relaxer for the shoulder problem Concerta (an amphetamine)- for my ADHD Ambien - sleep medication since I often have difficulties sleeping Zoloft - antidepressant
My house is like a pharmacy but I don't abuse these drugs at all. I don't take them all the time or all at once but they help me maintain my life and health. When I take my Xanax for panic attacks I'm a sluring fool sometimes but in no way is it drug abuse, it's just a side effect of the drug. I think Anna was a mess but you can't just assume that because she has tons of drugs, she's always abusing them or ODing. Wow. I have no idea where that rant just came from. The end.
I am going to guess that there is Oxycontin, Soma, Percocet and more drugs. I take the three drugs mentioned in doses that my doctor checks on a reg. basis. I am a pain pateint, not suicidal...

Her mother really is bitter about Anna and it would really screw the little girl up to have her grandmother just telling her all the horrible things her mother did. She did seem to be a loving mother to Daniel and raised him since she was 17 yrs which is more than a lot of young mothers would do.

The little girl is going to screwed up no matter who takes "care" of her: Howard? Larry B? Zsa Zsa's husband. She can't have a healthy life. I think that is what is most sad.

Xanax is an anti-anxiety not antidepressant. I'm a 27 year old professional who has never abused drugs or alcohol BUT I have the following medications via my doctor for some specific health issues that I have:
Xanax - I have severe panic attacks regularly
Vicodin - I have chronic shoulder pain from a sports accident
Oxycodone - for when the pain is really bad
Flexiril - a muscle relaxer for the shoulder problem
Concerta (an amphetamine)- for my ADHD
Ambien - sleep medication since I often have difficulties sleeping
Zoloft - antidepressant
My house is like a pharmacy but I don't abuse these drugs at all. I don't take them all the time or all at once but they help me maintain my life and health. When I take my Xanax for panic attacks I'm a sluring fool sometimes but in no way is it drug abuse, it's just a side effect of the drug. I think Anna was a mess but you can't just assume that because she has tons of drugs, she's always abusing them or ODing. Wow. I have no idea where that rant just came from. The end.

I am going to guess that there is Oxycontin, Soma, Percocet and more drugs. I take the three drugs mentioned in doses that my doctor checks on a reg. basis. I am a pain pateint, not suicidal...

Jesus Christ, 2:55, your doctor should have his license REVOKED! I know you'll never believe it, but all your "symptoms" can be "cured" if you just live a healthier lifestyle. Eat right, exercise regularly and stay away form stimulants like caffeine and alcohol if you're having sleeping problems.
