Every great actor that worked with her always raved about how she took acting seriously and how great she was.

MM was much more than eye candy. But only people that look at her pictures and open their dumb uninformed mouths would think differently.

She studied under Lee Strasburg. She also broke away from the majors studios to form her own studio for artistic control over the pictures--something that was unheard of at the time and very controversial. And she was married to Arthur Miller, a great playwright, and was instrumental in bringing some of his plays to the screen. She worked with some of the best writers and actors of her day and was always trying to be a better actress and break out of the dumb blonde sexpot box. Oh and she wasn't discovered in a diner--she was a model and worked her way up in Hollywood doing bit parts until she started getting notice. I'm sure she slept with people to get ahead too, but I don't think that's the reason she was a big star. She was actually good.

So yeah, next time you make a big statement about how stupid everyone is and how smart you are, you might want to actually check your facts first.

I've always heard that size 16 thing, but I don't think it's true, even if sizes have changed. MM's measurements were

Height: 5 feet, 5½ inches
Weight: 118-140 pounds
Bust: 35-37 inches
Waist: 22-23 inches
Hips: 35-36 inches
Bra size: 36D

That's a size 12. Mostly because she was so curvy. Nothing wrong with that.

MM also dealt with mental health issues, her mother was unstable and MM never knew her father. Her life is a very interesting story of struggle, success and failure. She was naturally beautiful, talented and fragile and I never get sick of reading about her.

Marilyn was a size 16 before the size conversion. If you go to vintage stores skirts can be a size 16 but today it fits a size 4-6. Marilyn was a 14-16 because back then it was known as todays 4-6.

size 12 back then was not a size 12 today. because of something called "vanity sizing", designers are shrinking sizes so women can feel thinner and still buy clothes. it's all very true. marilyn monroe would be a size 4/6/8 equivalent throughout her career in today's sizes.
