    By Anonymous, on 9:05 AM

  • Precisely the reason my 9 year old daughter is scared to wear her bathing suit. She's got a normal little girl body and is afraid she looks "fat," or like a "whale." Minus the gal on the right, God bless her for having the courage to wear a 2-piece, these are what real women look like.

Welcome to the world of healthy, well-nourished, unphotoshopped, happy, social, hard-working women. We don't all starve ourselves and have weekly visits to a vacuum.

    By Anonymous, on 9:13 AM

  • whales? are you 14, because I'm not sure whom else talks like that about complete strangers. good for that girl on the right for being comfortable in a two piece. Kelly on the other hand gets paid to be in the public eye, that's a sort of a different story.

    By Anonymous, on 9:16 AM

  • ^Agree with 9:13 and I'm a dude. Not everybody can be a freakin' supermodel. Plus, it looks like Kelly was already burned from previous days at the beach and was just covering up. You know, skin cancer is real.

    By Anonymous, on 9:16 AM

  • I liked Kelly on American Idol. She had a Phat ass. Now she's got a Fat ass and it's not quite as hot. She did blow up a bit. It's a shame. :o(

    By Anonymous, on 9:16 AM

  • Yeah - I agree with Precisely.... articles like this are poison to society promoting what women should look like. Im a father of two gilrs in grade school - and they are already afraid of looking fat - or dressing wrong. This is promoted by children of absentee parents who have no idea of life outside of Entertainment Tonight.

I think KC has an amazing voice. I don't let appearance judge my taste in music - thats strange.

  • Dammit I've been waiting for this site to post these pictures. I've used all my jokes about the bikini fatass on the right end on all the other sites!

With that said, that fat bitch had no right. NO RIGHT for that.

    By Anonymous, on 9:23 AM

  • ....

    Wow, angry housewives unite.

Let's be serious. The chick on the right has NO BUSINESS wearing that bikini. That is just repulsive and vulgar. If I saw her on the beach, I would probably moo.

The chick in the blue bikini should also NOT be in a bikini. Look at those fat rolls on her sides! GOOD LORD, SICK!

The two other girls aren't that bad, but what's with that one chick's mismatched bikini? Really classy.

    By Anonymous, on 9:24 AM

  • 9:13AM, that ain't no depiction of "healthy, well-nourished" anything. And how you come to the conclusion that they are "hard-working" is beyond any sort of logic.

That lady on the right is morbidly obese, quit living in denial and put down those cookies.

    By Anonymous, on 9:28 AM

  • that is a group of hideous people. the girl on the right should spend less time wolfing down doughnuts and more on the treadmill.

    By Anonymous, on 9:32 AM

  • Here, here 9:24AM.

That fatso is the large equivalent of skinny girls who dress more than half naked and let their cooters hang out. It's all the same. You are right, that girl had no business wearing that.

Clothes are supposed to be flattering on the figure. That girl/lady/pilsbury doughboy was too busy eating in school to realize "flattering" didn't mean "flattening" which she has obviously mistaken the term for.

    By Anonymous, on 9:32 AM

  • It's always amusing to see a chubby chick hanging out with other chicks fatter than her to meke herself look better.

    By Anonymous, on 9:34 AM

  • I like how angry fat chicks are uniting here to say that this is what the real world looks like.

Guess what? Umm, no it doesn't. I'm by no means 'perfect' (who is?), but I still take care of myself, I AM healthy (that obese girl must be doing a number on her heart and healthcare) and am a hard-working PhD student. There are LOTS of women in all parts of the world who DO take care of their health and bodies and don't need photoshop to prove that they do. Some of the women in this photo clearly don't take care of themselves.

I could care less if you want to continue living in your delusional state, but seriously, don't pretend that this is the 'real world' just so you can live in denial.

    By Anonymous, on 9:39 AM

  • i guess you've never been to a beach in the south of france. this is what it looks like except here the bikinis are more modest since in france the women won't have a top on.

regardless we better throw away any art that depicts overweight people, cuz that shit is gross.

    By Anonymous, on 9:49 AM

  • it's fine to bust each other's chops about this type of stuff but i hate it when parents chime in about their girls. they're always saying the same thing - their girls are terrified of being seen as fat, because of media this and media that. the suggested fix is make society's ideal fatter. that will never happen. what will happen is that fat kids - like the one on the far right - will live much less healthy lives. how about worrying about that, mr and mrs loving parent? mindless encouragement of self-acceptance is bad parenting.

  • I call dibs on the short-haired girl in the mismatched bikini, second from the right in the main picture.

She's the only one in the bunch who's anywhere near attractive enough to go for a ride on my baloney pony so I don't want any of the rest of you dickheads going anywhere near her.

As for the rest of this lot, I agre with 9:24AM. The chick on the right is killing herself with food, and the chick in the blue bikini isn't doing a lot better. Love handles and a little chunk in the thighs is reasonable, but when your rolls hang in rolls on top of your other rolls your nasty ass is decidedly unhealthy.

It's not JUST that fat is ugly, it's also DEADLY and as human animals we have a deep-seated instinctual revulsion towards obesity.

    By Abe, on 10:05 AM

  • I'm sorry but I consider myself a forgiving and polite fellow. The gal on the right is not and should not be considered, "just what a woman looks like". Maybe she's what daily visitors to McDonalds or KFC look like, but no, she does not represent what your normal young adult should look like. Further more, I'm sick and tired of people who are fat, who don't excercise or merely eat right at all, telling the world that it's "OK" to be obnoxiously fat, because that's who they are. BS!
For the most part they're just lazy and lack self control.

    By MikeG, on 10:06 AM

  • The pictures make one thing very clear: support the fatties who defend Kelly Clarkson as "normal" and these will be our sex partners.

    By Anonymous, on 10:10 AM

  • Anon 9:39: I'm 5'2 and 106 lbs. I'm also a semi-black belt in TKD. I'm not fat. It's SO incredibly condescending of you to assume that everyone who does NOT enjoy poking fun of fat non-celebrities must be fat. Eek. Congrats on taking care of your body while persuing a degree! I've never heard of a student having time to work out. Ahem.

This actually IS what the real world looks like. None of these girls are obese except the girl on the right. And while it would behoove her health to lose weight, who is she hurting by wearing a bikini? (Those that say "Me! My eyes!" must forget that their heads are on necks, and can swivel. So, too, can your eyes in your sockets. Look away.)

As for the rest, they're sure not workout queens, but so the fuck what? Where is the law that you must be healthy, fit, and pleasurable to see in a bikini, in order to wear one?

I'm not a feminazi, but I have to ask... why do other women contribute to this idea that women SHOULD dress for men's appreciation? How about dressing for what makes you feel good?

Women in our country have so much freedom. And yet we are so acrimonious towards each other, eager to agree that some (nonfamous, by the by) stranger should be ridiculed for daring to feel more confident than she should. It's bullying. It's like once the first stone is thrown...grow the fuck up, ladies. It doesn't make you better or stronger. Have each other's backs!

    By J, on 10:18 AM

  • What's better, to be thin and anxious and depressed, or fat and happy?

Well, of course fat people are anxious and depressed. Maybe more so than thin people. So the question really is, is it better to be thin or fat? The answer is thin.

    This isn't rocket science.

(It's politics, you can tell because reality is distorted constantly and absurdly, just to repeatedly make a point that's invalid if you stick to the facts.)

  • I could NOT agree more with 9:39 and 9:57! ANYone who claims that that FAT kid is what a "real woman" looks like has absolutely nooooo idea about what a woman should look like! Let's get serious! You have to be quite overweight yourself to consider that chick "real" She is disgustingly overweight! That isn't a real woman! It's a LAZY woman!
The sight of that chick in a bikini is frightening! She has NO business even in a bathing suit! It's just disgusting to see her ruining and wasting her life like that! It's very sad! And for the rest of you fatties who look at her, and call her a real woman? I feel sad for you as well! Lose the extra weight! If not for yourselves, for your families! It's just disgusting!

  • "Have each other's backs!"

Dream on, Ms. Friedan. Women have had the majority vote in America for decades and decades, and they've never voted as a bloc on anything. If solidarity could possibly exist, we'd be on our 10th female president, instead of...maybe...the first serious candidacy (Sen. Hillary Hippohip Cankles). Feminists have tried for 40 years to tell other women how to act and what to think, and the most significant result was when a lot of young girls dressed like Madonna for awhile back in the '80s. Excellent work!

    By Anonymous, on 10:36 AM

  • Sorry to be a stickler about language on a celeb blog, but technically you should not refer to the one on the far right as being "at the beach" - the correct usage is "beached."

  • Listen, I enjoy thick women as much as the next guy. I never will call a woman "fat" when they are just marginally overweight. That being said, the chick on the far right here has no business wearing a two piece. If you want to, thats fine, its one's right. But come on.....she looks horrible.

I'd bang the other chicks in this pic. The one second from the left, slightly behind Kelly, looks like she has a pretty nice body.

  • What's with this "real women" bull? Is a celeb not a "real woman", or she's a robot?

Is a woman that actually takes care of herself with a thick, yet TIGHT body not real?

Why do you have to have a nasty ass body to be considered "real"?

I'm not for calling any non-zero chick fat, but this is just too much.

    By Anonymous, on 10:48 AM

  • Men of the world we must unite. For once, I have respect for bitchy gay people and bitchy women in the fashion industry for trying to set a beauty standard for women to attain. Other wise fat housewives like the commentors here would encourage women to eat ho-hos and drink butter all day long to look like this. Encourage women to be skinny or the terrorists have won.

    By Anonymous, on 10:49 AM

  • Well said, 10:11 a.m.

    By Anonymous, on 10:49 AM

  • All right. I'm weighing in on this too.

    Blue Bikini: Obese

Brown/Black Bikini facing Clarkson: Slightly Overweight

Miss MixMatch: Healthy to Slightly Overweight

    Burgundy Bikini: MORBIDLY OBESE

There's no "this is what people look like". There's no "good for her for being comfortable enough in her own body to wear a two piece". That girl will have serious medical issues (ie: heart disease) before she's thirty. No doubt about it.

I don't give a shit if they look good or not. What I do give a shit about is the fact that people will argue up and down that a person's obesity is justifiable when it clearly ISN'T.

And please don't defend Clarkson for being burned from a day of lounging on the beach. Yes, skin cancer is real but if she had any brains she would have slapped on some SPF 50 before flopping her pale-as-shit ass down on a towel in the sun. Exposing already-damaged skin to the sun the next day isn't too goddamned bright either.

    By Vigilante, on 10:51 AM

  • Seriously I'm not being mean, but the girl on right shouldn't be wearing a two-piece. There are things that certain people just shouldn't wear. I've seen fat guys wearing speedos and they shouldn't wear that either.

    By Anonymous, on 10:57 AM

  • On the other hand, why do any of you guys care what Kelly Clarkson looks like? It's not like you're ever going to have sex with her. There are plenty of other women whose pictures you can take to your bunkbeds and fantasize about.

    By Anonymous, on 11:00 AM

  • I think fat girls should grow up anxious and with low self-esteem. The only guys who will have sex with them will also be anxious and have low self-esteem. And everybody knows it's important for two people in a relationship to have something in common.

Just because you wouldn't put them in your thinspiration notebook next to Posh Beckham and Mary Kate Olsen doesn't mean they're fat. I guess models who snort coke and smoke cigarettes for breakfast are more like your idea of healthy, huh?

Do you think only guys are ripping on Kelly? Please.....rippin other women to shreds is what women do, and I guarantee the majority of visitors and commenters on this blog are female.

    By Anonymous, on 11:35 AM

  • I think the issue is not how these women look, (I don't care how they choose to dress) but rather, it's the health issues that arise from carrying around that much extra weight.

It does not matter if the majority of women in America look like this; that still does not make it healthy.

The sad reality is, if the average weight in this country was 500lbs, people would still say "That's the average. That's normal! That's what real women look like!" Well, actually, it's not. The human body was designed for movement, it was designed to stay active, and to stay within a certain weight range. Otherwise, it does not perform properly.

And to anon 10:11: I am a full time Cytotechnology grad student with high honors, I work part-time, and I exercise every day. It's possible when you wake up at 5:00am... so, in fact, it IS possible. I'm sorry if you've never "heard" of a student having time to work out: but I assure you, we do exist.

  • Everyone in the pic is fine, except chick on the right. I don't care that she's fat, it doesn't "offend" me, and I certainly would never lower myself to take cheapshots at her expense, but yes, the reality is she's OVERWEIGHT.

And those who say "that's what women look like" - THEY'RE RIGHT. Because North America has an obesity epidemic.

That's not to say what we SHOULD look like, women OR men. But lots do. Unfortunately.

As for blue bikini girl, she has some rolls there, and if it were me, I wouldn't wear a bikini, but "obese"!?!?!??! That's fucking nuts. And says more about you than her.

    By jenner, on 11:41 AM

  • 10:11AM,

I never said I had time to work out. I said "I take care of myself, my health" and my point about being a PhD student was in response to one of the previous comments about these women "supposedly" being hardworking. I can see how my comment could be taken out of context, but I was responding to a particular comment (without specifically referring to the person's post -- I apologise for my unclear post).

The your comment that I've never heard of a student having time to work out. Ahem is just as presumptuous as my comment about people defending morbidly obese women. However, there could be humour behind your post, so I won't dwell on it.

However, this image might be what the "real" world looks like in YOUR country, but not in mine nor in most places in Europe or other places around the globe.

Although I agree with you on some issues, we'll have to agree to disagree on this weight issue and these pictures. It's mindless and futile to worry about pixels on a screen, but beyond the pixels are real people . . . and at least one of these people is morbidly obese.

    By Anonymous, on 11:42 AM

  • Do people take a good look at themselves;how can the lard ass in the second photo not realize what she looks like.

    By Anonymous, on 11:44 AM

  • People - I am a "hippo", as you have referenced above. I would not wear that swimsuit ANYWHERE. BUT...do you honestly believe that by calling her fat/disgusting/obese you are providing her with new insight? Do you honestly believe that judging her by her outward appearance will instantaneously provide her with will power, self esteem and keep her from touching anything with calories?

Seriously, the girl knows she's fat. And when someone finds her pic online and sends it to her and then she researches and sees all of these disparaging comments - I only hope she doesn't commit suicide. She has feelings, people.

I am fat. VERY fat. I KNOW I need to lose weight. I TRY to lose weight. But when a very obese person is faced with the amount of weight they "should" lose, it is VERY discouraging and it's probable that she has/will give up a million times before she reaches a "healthy" weight.

Give her a break and remember that she isn't the celebrity. She's just a girl on a beach with bad taste in swimwear.

    By Anonymous, on 11:44 AM

  • YUCK!

  • Can we all just agree that the fat girl looks like shit in that bikini? Nobody thinks that's cute and if you do, you started drinking way too early on a Friday!

    By Anonymous, on 11:46 AM

  • No one's suggesting that the girl on the right is "normal". She obviously has a weight problem. But the rest of the girls are normal. It is NOT normal to be able to see bones through your skin, and that includes clavicles. The people who think that Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are "normal" are the ones who need to get out into the open and see the real world. Jackasses.

And for the record, I'm a 5'3 133lbs marathon runner. So shut yer trap.

    By Anonymous, on 11:47 AM

  • People who say that this is what women look like have obviously not travelled or seen the world.

There is certainly an "epidemic" in the West (America, Canada, UK), but stating that the women in this photo (particularly the one on the right) reflects reality DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT.

This has nothing to do with her appearance and everything to do with her health and strain she will have on the health care system (in which ever country she is from).

    By Anonymous, on 11:50 AM

  • I love how people who support these women say things along the lines of "If you don't like how these 'real women' look, then you must like anorexic coke addicts." It's as if they think there's no happy medium.
Just because I don't like women to be overweight, doesn't mean I like women who have the bodies of 14 year old boys. There is a wide range of body types in between.
I'm a fit person, and I like people I date to be fit. I don't date supermodels, but I do date women who take care of themselves. (And that has in the past included women who have those little pouches, cellulite, etc)
I realize no one is perfect, and women shouldn't look like little boys..... but they also shouldn't look like this.
As I said, there is a wide variety of bodies that don't fit into either of these types.

    By Anonymous, on 11:51 AM

No one wants to look at that. Why would she wear that?? Especially when she knows there will be paparazzi???? That is not what real women look like. Real women are not all obese and extremely overweight. That is NOT A REAL WOMAN! get a grip people!

sure, it is fine to stick up for the others but even the girl in the blue bikini is pushing it. they invented one pieces for a reason!

and while I'm at it..I am by no means fat. I weigh in at 110 and I am 5'5". when my friends and I go to the beach there are always chubby girls in bikinis who stare us down and we dont know if they want to eat us for lunch or are just being bitches. Im sorry I weigh a lot less than you but god damn don't walk by talking shit to me! I did nothing wrong!

I think she needs to find what is flattering to her body type and work with it. Bikinis should not even come in that size!

    By Anonymous, on 11:57 AM

  • What follows is a long-winded diatribe about obesity and whatnot. I'd rather write this than do actual work today :-).

I agree with those of you who stated that fat is unhealthy, and I agree that the largest of these women's choice in swimwear is unfortunate. However, this being America, she has a right to wear it, while we have a right to say she looks gross. To those of you that stated "this is what women look like," well, this may be what SOME women look like, but it has nothing to do with being happy/healthy/hardworking/social. Obesity stems from portion sizes, food choices, activity level, and genetics (and in that order). If you eat huge portions and sit on your ass all day long, you'll get really big, unless you're genetically blessed or on crack (hey—just look at Courtney Love ). If you eat moderate portions (even higher-fat food), and stay active, most likely you won't. Unfortunately, the U.S. is a culture of gluttony--you can go anywhere else in the world and not find the kinds of portions they serve here, so it's no surprise that 60% of our population is overweight/obese. This is further exacerbated by having office jobs, having to drive everywhere rather than walk, and having hobbies that consist of sitting on our asses in front of the computer/Xbox360/TV/etc. Hell, just look at typically slender ethnicities that move here (Asians, etc.)--once they adopt the worst qualities of American culture, they blow up in no time. (And no, I’m not saying fat is good and normal and let’s all celebrate with a bacchanal where we roll around in food; I’m just saying it’s easier to get fatter here than anywhere else.)

What I find fascinating about all of this, though, is that the bigger our country has gotten, the more we hate fat people. It's under the guise of "taking care of them costs our country money," and that's true, but so do smokers, drug users, alcoholics, homeless, et al, yet we don't despise these people with the same white-hot heat that we do fat folks. Someone else mentioned that we're genetically programmed to dislike obesity, and that's bunk—it’s an entirely cultural thing. Societies all over the world, and ours too, long ago, prized the rotund person. It was a sign of wealth and health, since you had money to eat well and didn't have to labor in the fields all day, so the women who the media depicts as beautiful today would have been undesirable back then. Now, though, fat is a sign of poverty, since you don't have enough money to eat quality food (highly processed shit food is always the cheapest) and/or can't afford a gym, and hence the fat person is undesirable. What does it all mean? I don’t know—I certainly understand why the cultural shift occurred, I just don’t understand why the fat person is so hated. Anyone else have any thoughts?

  • 11:44, this girl honestly can't complain if she ever reads what people say here. She chose to wear an unflattering swimsuit and hang with a person who gets their picture taken often. If she has the guts (LOL) to wear it outside then she has the guts to bear up under scrutiny. Most fat people know how they're viewed in society, regardless of if it's wrong or right, and so she knew full well what she was doing when she put that bikini on.

And for all the women here saying we should back each other up? I am a woman, and I know what looks good and what doesn't look good on other women. I'm gonna tell another woman if she looks awful in public, because I'd want another woman to tell me. I'm not going to be all fake-positive and soft hearted like some of you all are. You know that fat girl doesn't look good in a bikini, so go ahead and "hurt her feelings" a little by telling her so! Maybe she'll learn from it and wear a dress over that mess next time! Nobody likes to look at gross fat, no matter how commonplace it is!

    By Anonymous, on 12:02 PM

  • oh, 11:44, why did you have to go and interject common sense and reason into this fascinating discussion...

    By Anonymous, on 12:08 PM

  • Not normal. Not normal. Not normal.

Don't tell me I'm "borderline pedo" because I like a woman who has some semblance of tone and defninition and takes some pride in how she looks. Larger ladies, don't be bitter and call everyone who was dealt a better genetic hand and/or isn't lazy a bulimic/anorexic coke addict. And don't call the guys who don't want anything to do with you names either. I like a woman who has hips and a thick ass as much (or more) than the next guy, but I don't want to slap a girl's ass and have the ripple effect create a flesh tsunami that will reverberate around her morbidly obese torso and slam into the back of my head.

If you're gross, own it. Don't make excuses.

    By Anonymous, on 12:17 PM

  • If you are gross, own it. No excuses.

    By Anonymous, on 12:19 PM

  • Jeez, even the "real women" Lany Bryant models don't look like the one on the right. Some of those big girls are HOT and toned for their size. This girl is fat and flabby.

Just because they make bikinis in size 20 doesn't mean you WEAR it.

    By Anonymous, on 12:23 PM

  • I am a FAT girl too - and I WEAR BIKINIS! I'm not some lonely hag who stays at home - I have a busy social life, plenty of dates and I exersize regularly! and I LOOK DAMN GOOD!

Just because someone is fat doesn't mean that they're not healthy. And PLEASE - don't even give me that shit because are you REALLY concerned with these girls' health? NOT! It's just another excuse to sling stupid 3rd grade insults. You won't see me calling skinny bitches names for having protruding hip bones or ribs sticking out - but that doesn't mean that they look good!

Just ACCEPT that people are made in all different sizes, colors and shapes and tastes - contrary to popular American media, the world doesn't revolve around the 20 inch waistline!

None of you asswipes would ever have a chance at Kelly or any of her girlfriends, so just get up, walk away from the puter and actually GET A LIFE and quit commenting on some girls having a fun day at the beach!

  • did they go swimming? probably not.. i havent heard of tsunami occurance in those parts. phew.

    By Anonymous, on 12:24 PM

  • Hmmmm...I am torn on this one. I look a lot like that chick on the right and I would NEVER in a million billion years wear a 2 piece like that IN PUBLIC (or anywhere else actually). I recently gave up caring what I look like in a one piece skirted swimsuit when I do water areobics.
I am so embarassed for her and in a weird way angry at her for thinking she can run around looking like that. She makes all of us fatties look bad.
But in a weird way, maybe I am jealous, cause it takes some big balls to walk around like that on the beach with your much smaller friends. That's one big, brave girl.
And, I would never tell you that she is what "normal" women look like. Sheesh.
The one in the blue suit has suprisingly little cellulite comared to those side rolls she is sporting.

    By Anonymous, on 12:28 PM

  • I'm a fat girl, who's currently losing weight (I've lost 80 lbs so far, and I have 40 lbs to go to reach the healthy weight for my height), and I know the pain of being called names.

BUT.... I also know the reality of the world.

I've never dressed like this. I've always dressed for my "body type". Is that feeding into standards which society has set over body image expectations? Sure. But it's a fact of life that the world is not perfect, people will criticize those who look different and who go against societal norms. I've accepted that, and therefore, I don't walk around wearing two pieces when I know my body does not look good in them. This girl may not be a celebrity, but she walked on a beach in a two piece with a celebrity, she had to anticipate that this might happen. That's just how society is.

Try to equate it with this scernario: You're a gay man who's travelling through some back-roads into a sort of red-neckish small town with your life partner. If you were this guy, would you stop at the local truck stop/diner and make out with your partner in plain view of the crowd? No, of course not, because you would get your ass kicked severely. It's sad, and it shouldn't be that way, but it's a reality for the time being. This is along the same vein. If you look like this and go on a beach wearing a two piece with a celebrity, you have to expect the reactions will not be favorable.

Also, I agree with 11:39, it's an issue of health, and not simply aestetics. Being that heavy is not healthy (trust me, I know), and it is not normal. As someone who was in danger of developing diabetes at age 21, I can tell you, it's not ok. I'm all for empowering each other as women, but I feel you're not empowering any woman by telling her that, at 300lbs, she's perfectly fine. What's truly empowering is encouraging one another to be healthy, to be active, not to excuse their looks with this pseudo feminist rhetoric, the "you're ok, just the way you are" theory. That's not empowering, that's an excuse for laziness.

    By Anonymous, on 12:28 PM

  • the girl in the mismatched bikini is normal. she has thick legs but is fit. no pronounced gut or side rolls, and she isn't flabby. clarkson, blue bikini, and brown bikini could fare well with some intensive workouts and diet modifications. massive jiggly mess to the far right....jesus.

    By Anonymous, on 12:33 PM

    By Anonymous, on 12:37 PM

  • anon 12:24, you DID technically rag on skinny chicks in your post, but I digress.

The fact is, anon 12:24, if someone is OBESE they are NOT healthy. I don't care how you justify it to yourself, it's a fact of science; it is not healthy.(And obviously, there is a different between being "fat", and being obese... and that one girl is obese.)

Now, you can still maintain a healthy lifestyle while having some extra fat on your body, this I will concede. However, there is not a credible doctor on Earth who will tell you that having a BMI of 30 or over is healthy. It's not happening. Sorry.

Go on and be proud of your looks, sweetheart. More power to you. But don't fool yourself. The chick on the far right is not healthy and this is not "just her body shape." She is obese, and she will put herself in an early grave. But who cares, right? Because, according to what I gather from your post, as long as she thinks she's all that, then she's just fine, yeah?

    Wrong.

HAHHHAHHAHAHA. Congrats on being yet another one of the legions of fat moms playing the "REAL WOMEN" card. Guess what? Slender women are REAL women too, and not by starving themselves or working out 24 hours a day. Get off your big fat high horse and get to the gym if you and your daughter are so worried about being fat. It has nothing to do with my self-esteem or how social/out-going I am. It simply doesn't look good. As a big girl I'm appalled at some of the clothing that is sold for plus-size women. Bikinis, mini-skirts, stretchy pants...none of these items are flattering on women of larger size. I like to flaunt it just as much as the skinny girls, but there is a way to do it where it looks good.

  • 11:44 here - I want to clarify that I do not think that obesity is healthy, even as an obese person.

And I want to throw out the possibility that perhaps this girl was not at the beach with Kelly Clarkson, but merely walked up and said hello. She may not have known she would be photographed. Still, she shouldn't wear a two-piece swimsuit.

My intent in writing my response was to suggest less name calling on this girl. Whoever suggested that eating healthier is expensive is absolutely correct...it's more expensive to buy alot of fresh produce and high quality/low fat/low calorie food. For all we know, though, this girl has lost 40 lbs. and is wanting to show off her results. We just don't know the story behind these photos and I think it's such a disgrace that most of you think it's okay to throw out the stereotypical sayings/phrases when referencing fat people.

There are alot of us. And we want to look like you. I would hope you could be somewhat mature and make us want to BE like you too.

    By Anonymous, on 1:08 PM

  • I love the women/men on this blog who say they object to the obese woman in a bikini NOT because she's fat and in a bikini, but because she is unhealthy and doing damage and it's sad. Puh-leeze. Like you give a shit about her health! It's just a subtle way to put her down without seeming to criticize her weight.

Here it is: does she look good in that bikini? No. Does it flatter her? No. Because she is overweight. But... does that mean she has no right to wear it? No, for the love of god! She can wear whatever the fuck she wants. If it offends you, click a fuckin' link. You have no right to deem what is offensive or otherwise.

Todd, I think you fucked up on this one. I hope your ass doesn't get sued by one of these girls' families for emotional distress or something.

  • 12:00, you made some great points. But I honestly don't have a clue, either.

I think Americans hate fat people so much partly because it's a self-hatred thing. As you said, the majority of Americans are fat, so where does all this hatred come from? I don't think it's just the fit minority. I think the majority of haters are fat people, actually.

Perhaps because, unlike religion, race, or sexual orientation (the latter is still of course argued on either side), obesity is something an individual can control. We're taught from young ages that fat people are lazy, glutoness, and irresponsible burdens on society who lack all self-control. Fat people are lampooned in cartoons watched by the youngest of children. We are taught that fat people are bad, and yet, this is the same society that would rather spend an evening in front of the tv, rather than go on a family bike ride.

And I do believe this is a relatively recent development. I am 23 and I remember as a child (less than 20 years ago) my family and I would go for nightly walks, bike rides, have basketball games at the park, swim in our pool. There was no such thing as "primetime tv" except for TGIF on ABC (remember those shows guys?). We wouldn't even watch Sat. morning cartoons, we were immediately outside, first thing Sat. mornings. And we stayed out until the sun went down. This was not just my family, this was every family in our neighborhood.

It's not that way now. I live in the same neighborhood, full of new young families and you never see children outside playing on the weekends anymore. Our priorities have changed as a society.

    By Anonymous, on 1:17 PM

  • why do we stand up for and justify the actions of someone increasing their risk for all sorts of health care problems. if someone were smoking a cigarette you wouldn't say "don't make fun of her she can do what she wants, it's ok if it's bad for her." normal women aren't sticks but they should not supported when they're obese, it's unhealthy. america is killing itself with obesity.

  • EMOTIONAL DISTRESS? Stop being pussies, people! These women are in public view and I can guarantee you that people there at the beach were likely saying the exact same things that are being said here. We have a right to say what we want to say about how bad they look, regardless of whether they cry about it or not! Nobody starts whining and crying whenever Cameron Diaz's fugly self and her fugly friends are caught looking like shit on camera. Why? Because they're all skinny and can make quicker movements to defend themselves than fat people can or something? You came to a celebrity gossip blog, don't expect Dr. Phil bullshit of self-acceptance and love, because that ain't what celebrity is about! I come here to trash everyone equally!

Good to know they've finally given up on her ever keeping the weight off and are just marketing her as "soulful adult contemporary singer." Better career choice for when she's older, fatter, and all she has is that voice. It worked for Aretha Franklin!

    By Anonymous, on 1:50 PM

  • wow. I'm a size 14-16 and the only two piece I wear are the ones that are shorts w/ the halter top that covers the rest. She better go with her bad self, wearing a two piece..

I do know, however that she IS overweight and that is NOT what the normal person looks like or even SHOULD look like. I beleive they say the average American woman is a size 14, which is more like what I wear.. This chick is heading into the 20's I think. The other chicks look fine. But we shouldn't be out here judging. She IS a person and we should remember that.

Kelly looks like she was BURNT the night before and covered up that day. I don't think these girls are her friends though.. Looks like fans who saw her.. One thing, I saw Kelly up close and personal last year and she honestly isn't even as big as she looks in pics. What it is is that she's SHORT as hell (about 5'2 I think) and in person, she's adorable. Not fat at all.

You know, it's funny that I should be characterized as one who is lashing out?

I'm sorry - oh insightful one - have you completely ignored the majority of comments posted where this lovely young woman (YES - I expressed my opinion, of course) who is simpling living her life and enjoying a day at the beach is being harshly ridiculed on so many levels by people (and I use the term loosely) who don't know her or even care about her?

    What she's wearing.
    What she supposedly eats.
    How she's not 'healthy'.
She should protect the eyes of others from her 'so called' ugly body.

Yet *I* am the one who is characterized as lashing out???

Give me a break - 1:33 - you don't love me - and even if you did, what makes you think I'd love YOU?

    Just being REAL.

So we have to wait until someone comes to tell us what's offensive? That's fucking retarded.

If I think a fat girl in a bikini is offensive to my eyes, then it's offensive to MY EYES and no amount of political correctness is gonna change that.

Bitch? You haven't even begun to see how bitchy I can be - but it takes something REAL to get me bitchy....and all you anonymous people are boring me.

Ok, my horribly irrelevant life calls! I hope one day YOU can get one too!

    By Anonymous, on 2:06 PM

  • What she is wearing is fug, on many levels. She needs a one piece with a skirt that covers her THIGH, that's right, I said THIGH because her THIGHS appear have merged into one giant solitary THIGH.
There are beautiful fat chicks, Mia Tyler anyone? She blows her sister Liv out of the water. But, this chick is Fat and Fug. Life sucks.
I won't speculate about what she eats here...I can guess, based on my own eating habits.
I won't speculate on her health. Vigilante is a fucktard for speculating about it. I am that girl's size and 30 yrs old, and I am healthy...for the moment. I have extremely low blood pressure, low cholesterol, etc. What my future holds? Who knows. My mother is bigger than me, 63, with no health troubles, except weak ankles from carrying all that extra weight around. All these peple bitching about this girl being "unhealthy" need to shut the fuck up. I hear more skinny bitches complaining about high blood pressure than I do fatties.
The older I get, the more I don't give a shit about protecting other people from my "ugliness". People who worry about that shit, need to get a life and worry about their own inner and outer ugliness.
Kelly Clarkson is sporting some major cankles and thunder thighs.
    :)

  • Wow, 1:51, you know, I think you may have picked up on the sarcasm of 1:33. How astute of you.

I noticed you didn't use the word "puter" in that last post Well done. It's a start.

The reality is, it doesn't matter how REAL you are, because your reality seems greatly erroneous. So go on being real and remaining delusional concerning your own health and corpulant outward appearance. If it works for you, so be it.

The fact remains, we are posting on a blog, where your opinions are neither more nor less relevant than the rest of ours.

My opinion is that there is no excuse for being obese, and your opinion is that obese people are fine just as they are.

I won't change your mind and you won't change mine. And honestly, it doesn't matter in the long run. This is a blog, sweetheart, and this conversation will end sometime and will ultimately have no bearing on our future endeavors in life.

So live long and prosper, go on with your life, have fat children, and be happy. That's your choice.

But don't complain and mooch off the welfare system when your knees give out due to the extra weight your carrying around, and you need a triple-bypass because your arteries are clogged with shit.

    By Anonymous, on 2:30 PM

  • 11:24, that's pretty pathetic. But then again I'd expect that from a person who posts under "anonymous".

    By Vigilante, on 2:33 PM

  • Whatever, 1:51, keep trying to convince yourself you're happy with the way you look. If you were being real, you'd be honest with yourself and realize that you're a worthless fat fuck who will always secretly want to be thin. That's reality.

    By Anonymous, on 2:41 PM

  • Guess what: All these fat people out there are making health insurance rates go up because they are going to cost so much to take care of when their bodies start failing. So, fuck it. They should be criticized EVEN MORE! Fat fucks are indirectly costing me money.

    By Anonymous, on 2:42 PM

  • Hey, 1:51...

Q: Why are fat chicks good at giving head?

A: Because they have to be.

    By Anonymous, on 2:59 PM

  • I've always grown up the adage of just because you can doesn't mean you should. Some of these girls in this photo should take this advice. That is all.

    By Anonymous, on 3:01 PM

  • oh. my. god.

....um, i'm all for loving your body n stuff, but if the first number in your weight is a 3, then i'd leave the bikini at home.

  • I have just come back to the states from Budapest and other parts of Eastern Europe. I often commeneted on how rarely I saw an obese teenager or young person while I was there. They do A LOT more walking over there and eat less junk food. There is an epidemic of obesity in the U.S. and U.K. and we need to stop this "Real Women" bullshit and get honest. There is nothing "Real" or empowering about being at greater risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

  • Ditto my last comment to the first 2:11.

PS: I wasn't the first one speculating on her health. And I won't be the last.

    By Vigilante, on 3:43 PM

  • 12:39, I am the "fat mom" who you replied to above. Just so you know, I do go to the gym daily. Every single morning I am there, trudging away. I have finally convinced my friend of 315 lbs. to join me to try to get into shape.

My daughter has been in gymnastics since she was four. Her body is toned, she carries more muscle, and so she appears larger than most girls in her class.

I express the importance of healthy food and exercise into both of my children's lives - and they understand it. The only "excuse" I can offer up to overweight women battling losing it is the poor piles if sh*t who feel the need to bash them and make it harder for them to take control.

Depression is real. If you cared anything about the health of any person, you would understand that weight is a major cause of depression, and depression is a major cause of weight gain. People making disparaging comments such as yourself don't lend any help to any life already down the wrong path.

Go ahead and smirk away. I'm happy you find something to make you feel worth something - too bad it's at the expense of someone who already feels worth nothing.

IT IS NOT THE REAL WORLD ONLY THE TRAILER PARK AREA WHERE THEY ARE LIVING (or any other place where the fatties live) IN AMERICA.

    By Anonymous, on 4:32 PM

  • 2:11 a few people said that girl was morbidly obese before v did, and a slew of them said a whole lot worse and you're calling v a fucktard? for what? telling the truth? the girl is morbidly obese. obesity is a problem as i'm sure you know. good for you and your mom for dodging the bullet but that doesn't change the fact that if you're at a higher risk level for health problems than non-obese people. sounds like you've got more than health problems to worry about too "Kelly Clarkson is sporting some major cankles and thunder thighs" "I said THIGH because her THIGHS appear to have merged into one giant solitary THIGH". what do they call a person who can't decide whether or not to defend her own qualities or condemn them in other people? how about a fucktard?

    By gerry, on 4:58 PM

  • 4:32PM most people aren't stuck up, obnoxious, self-promoting, slutty, drug using, fake, etc . . . what's your point?

By the way, if Kelly Clarkson wasn't self-promoting, she wouldn't have tried out for American Idol.

How do you know she's not obnoxious, are you her closest confidant?

  • anon 3:46 :

Whether you are a fat mom, skinny mom, fit mom, who cares? The fact is, you're blaming the media, society, and basically everyone other than yourself for your child's self-esteem issues.

Your child wouldn't have body issues if you did your job as a parent and instilled a healthy self-image in her.

My parents raised 3 girls, all of us athletes, who ranged in height and weight, and none of us had (or have, for that matter) insecurity issues concerning our bodies.

It's like the parents who blame the internet, music and video games for bad language and bad behavior in their children... if they instilled proper value-systems in their kids, they wouldn't have those problems. Parents need to stop placing the blame everywhere else if their children have issues.

You're the parent, and therefore, the primary source of influence in your daughters life, go step up to the plate and fix the problem in your own home, and stop blaming society for your kids' problems.

This society caters to the weak, and weak-minded. There's no such thing as personal responsibility anymore. And if the blame can be placed elsewhere, it will be. Instead of saying "this is my problem and I will own it and take care of it," people instead say "It's society/television/fashion models/politics/movies/music/internet/school that's causing my problems! I'm not to blame!"

Lady, you're an adult, so act like one and own your responsibility. 12:39 was right, stop being a martyr and be an activist. Do something about this problem, other than of complaining on a celebrity blog.

  • I must say, I'm surprised how many of you actually took time out of your day to judge my friends and me. I'm the girl in the "mismatched" bathing suit. Do I look great in that picture? No. I don't often look great when I just want to catch some sun and be with two of my best friends. Am I a ten on the hotness scale? NO. Do I care? No. Do I know that I have rather hefty legs and a poochey belly? YUP. Am I overweight? Probably. Do I try my best to be healthy? Yes. I see that some of you have commented on my recent college weight. (It happens to the best of us I suppose.) I've struggled with my weight for years, and sometimes I must say I indulge and occasionally that donut just looks too delicious. I do exercise everyday, I love soccer and tennis and racquetball but obviously I've also enjoyed my fair share of food. My freshman year of college has been difficult, I'm working and far from home, and I'm not the brightest crayon in the box- so classes don't come easy. However, I do try my best to eat right and work out, just as I'm sure many people do. When my friend told me that there was a lot of rather "rude" comments addressing our shapes and sizes on the internet I had to see for myself. I don't feel the need to defend myself. I know sometimes I have rather unhealthy habits. I know I should probably be exercising a little bit more but I'm working on it, just like everyone else. Nobody’s perfect, it just so happens that one of my downfalls is my love for sugar. But I do want to sincerely thank you all for making sure I was fully aware of my imperfection. As for all the comments you left about my friend, on the right, I’m sure she will also appreciate that you all took the time to put her down. Its one thing to say that she’s unhealthy, its another thing to call her names like "hippo." I'm only 17 but I feel that I'm old enough to know that people have feelings and there is such a thing as unnecessary comments. Have I seen my friend breakdown in tears because of comments like yours? Yes. Has my friend been on diets? LOTS. I guess I just don’t understand why adults would feel the need to point out the imperfections of others. Maybe because it makes them feel better about their own? What makes you think that by calling my friend names she will be closer to living a healthier life? She’ll be closer to a lower self esteem and reaching for something to comfort the pain of harsh words. Shame on you for taking time out of your day to put someone else down.

    Sincerely,
The girl blessed with my mothers hefty legs and poochey belly.

    By Anonymous, on 6:01 PM

  • Apart from the chick on the right none of them are obese. Depending on their BMI they may be in the overweight index but I doubt that. As for the chick on the right .. let's be honest .. she could be in a sac and people would still be posting "barf" ... oh she's so gross ... so let's not pretend ... just admit you are a douche bag and that you'd say that either way ... :) Be proud!

By Rey Gamberro Salvador, on 6:51 PM

  • Also, to the dude who said "God bless the woman on the right" for having the "courage" to wear a two-piece, and describing these women as healthy? Dude, that woman is dangerously obese. She's not "healthy". "Healthy" involves thin and attractive. You Americans, man... not all of you, but really....

By Rey Gamberro Salvador, on 6:53 PM

  • Ok, so hi Im the woman on the right in the photo and all I can say is that I cant believe how mean people are, I walked past Kelly Clarkson while my friends said hi, not knowing someone would snap a photo and now Im being bashed across the internet. I have only read the first ten or so comments but most of them have made me cry, I live on Maui and I was wearing that because I was tanning, I didnt think that I would be offending the people of the world with my fat. Thank you to the people who defended me, it has taken years for me to be able to be comfortable enough with my body to wear a bikini for one hour on the beach just so I can tan a little and not feel horrible about myself. Real women look like me and there were many other who looked just like me on the beach who werent stupid enough to get their photo on the internet and all that you people are saying are just degrading their self-esteme more. So stop being mean bitches and find something better to do with your time than degrade photos of people you dont even know.

  • Anon 6:01 :

You and your friends need to thicken your skin. The world's not perfect, sweetheart. People are assholes, and people will make fun of your friend until she loses weight. It's a fact of life, albeit a sad one.

Why do you care what people think of you anyway? Apparently you think we're wasting our time coming to a website and talking about other people, so why do our opinions matter anyway? They're just opinions.

And as for anon 6:23, get over it. You're going to have to realize the world is not always a nice place. The sooner you come to terms with that, the better. If you don't develop some toughness, your kid is going to have a hell of a time defending his/herself from "mean" people as they grow. (Because everyone is picked on at one point or another)

    By Anonymous, on 7:16 PM

  • Anon 6:01, if your friend is so insecure about her weight, why the holy hell is she wearing a two-piece? Call me crazy, but if I was obese and traumatized by being picked on for it, I wouldn't advertise my fat for the world to see.

    I smell bullshit.

    By Anonymous, on 7:19 PM

  • These might be what real women look like, but there IS a point when it becomes unhealthy... and to me, that girl on the right has passed that point, the other girls are fine. though

    By Anonymous, on 7:28 PM

  • Anon 7:15 :

Real women do not look like you. SOME women look like you. But to say "real" women look like you is insulting to women like me, who work hard to stay in good shape and hear all the time from heavier girls that we look like "14 year olds" and that we're "anorexic". I don't dump on heavy girls, (because I realize how difficult some people must make your life), but I can't tell you how many heavy girls feel entitled to be mean and rude to me out of jealousy, spite or whatever. I've had drinks dumped on me in clubs, my friends and I were shoved into lockers in high school by bigger girls. I've been called a slut and a whore in front of strangers by big girls who automatically assume that I am a slut because I'm in good shape. I don't bring this on myself, I don't dress provocatively, but I'm fair game to these girls for whatever reason. And I don't bitch about it, I don't think of myself as a victim. I don't even bother with those girls. And you need to do the same concerning these people who have picked on you.

I am a woman, and last time I looked in the mirror, I did not look like you. I won't call myself "real", because there is no concrete definition of what a "real" woman looks like.

It sucks that you don't like being picked on, but what do you expect, honestly? You're either the most naive person in Maui, or you are a glutton for punishment. It's sad that you've been exposed to what people are saying about you, but did you expect people to not say anything? The world's not that nice, unfortunately.

Also for those of you who seem to think that I dont exersize and like sweets too much well, I run 4+ miles a day, 4 days a week and I dont eat sweets period (aka...no donuts for me). So Im not saying that Im not fat, I am, but Im just asking you not to judge.

If you run 4+ miles a day with a healthy diet and are still heavy like that, then there IS a health issue there. Go see another doctor. I'm in grad school for nutrition, and that's not normal.

Does this mean that I should stop exercising and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables? Well then, I'll take that bucket of fried chicken please.

Is it more important to try maintain a perfect 10 (or 9 or 8) for as long as possible while a nanny raises your child? Sure, good health is important, as is not equating a good body image with a skeletal twig. Four out of five of these woman are likely healthy fine, and good for them for enjoying their vacation. • What a bunch of fat fucking pigs. Stop fucking eating so much. Have some self control and some self respect. Fat is not normal. Fat is not beautiful. Fat is abnormal and fat is disgusting. Go on a healthy fucking diet and exercise once in a while. Only people I feel sorry for are the ones with some kind of medical condition that makes them gain so much weight, but those are few. Mostly, it's just fat lazy pigs who lay around and keep eating and eating and eating. Find a different fucking hobby and get a shrink, if you can't get over your addiction. Join a fucking health club for some pro advice, if you can't do it alone. My mother quit cigarettes cold turkey after 40 years of smoking, you fat fucking pigs.

If one fat pig can lose weight - like a good friend of mine who turned from an enormous pig to, literally, Mr. Universe; or the dead dumbass, Anna Nicole Smith - then so can another and another.

Stop with the excuses and get to work.

Aaaaand, don't blame other people or low self esteem on the fact that your friend can't push away the gateau when she's feeling low.

Looking at her size, she must feel depressed 23.5 hours out of a each day to be that heavy, if it's basically due to being called names. No, name calling doesn't help, but using it as a crutch isn't going to get her out of the situation.

    By Anonymous, on 11:00 PM

Is it mean for people to say you are unhealthy or is it the truth?

If you need a tan to "not feel horrible about yourself" then that fat must be seeping into your brain and devouring it.

I hope you aren't being presumptuous and just pretending that women are blogging about you (i.e.- referring to 'mean bitches')

I'm a guy and although I thought you looked unhealthy physically, your comments show that you're probably mentally unhealthy too (erratic emotions even displayed in your post!!!).

How about you take your own advice and stop calling people whom you've never met "bitches" and find something better to do than respond to people whom YOU'VE never met . . . lest the cycle continue.

NO, you do NOT represent "real women" and NO real women DON'T necessarily look like that.
Some women are certainly your size and bigger, but just because there are people your size doesn't make it right. So, quit being brainwashed into thinking that the image of you is what 'real women' look like.

I'm not suggesting a size 0 argument here, but you certainly don't have any justification for saying that real women look like you. I, for one don't. The majority of women (and men) in my country don't and the millions upon millions upon millions of other women (and men) around the globe ARE NOT your size or even marginally close to that.

Moral support and a pat on the back for being morbidly obese before the age of 20?

I hope you realize that the people defending you are probably just trying to justify their own obesity.

You may not represent real women, but you sure do represent obesity well.

  • I live in a diverse college town and see all kinds of what you call 'real women.' I see fairly thick girls. I see skinny chicks. I see girls that are toned and in shape. That is attractive. I am not saying to go on a lettuce diet, but for pete's sake...have a little self respect AND consideration for your arteries.

Don't tell me that these girls are 'real' or normal. That's not true and even if it were, it's not right because it's terribly unhealthy. These girls are fat. They aren't 'thick' and sexy...they are flabby, out of shape and have fast food falling out of their rolls. It isn't brave or empowering. It isn't beautiful or ballsy. It's gross. I can't believe that people don't know when they don't look good. It's common sense. There are one pieces for a reason. I don't care if you met Kelly and now you're on the internet...you chose to do all of that (wear what you wore/approach a celebrity that gets photographed). And seriously...go to any other country in the world...people are smaller and more fit. Those girls with Kelly would bawl if they were on some European beach surrounded by 'real' woman who actually...look like woman instead of whales.

But guess what...I'm the same person. That girl has feelings and she's not a celebrity...why are you people picking on her? Is it attractive? Of course not...but no one deserves these comments...not "real people" or "celebrities".

  • I've been reading these comments and have yet to comment, but I feel compelled to tell my story.

I was over-weight from about age 8 to age 22. My heaviest weight was 278 lbs (I'm a 5'4" female, by the way). I was made fun of because of my weight, people constantly put me down, there were times when I wanted to kill myself. I projected myself as a woman who was still confident on the outside, but inside I was dying.

But then one day I had enough. I stopped making excuses, I stopped blaming other people, I stopped pretending like I thought I was "big and beautiful", and I started walking, 30 minutes, everyday. I threw out the junkfood in my cupboards, I stopped going to fastfood places, and I walked. That was it. Soon enough, my body reached a plateau at 30 minutes so I walked an hour a day. Then it was 2 hours. Then I began lifting weights in order to tone. Eventually I began cross-training, doing a different form of exercise everyday.

In one year (yes, it only took one year) I was down to 143. Within the next 6 months I was down to my current weight, 107. I am toned and in the best shape of my life. I have a petite frame and you would never know looking at me that I used to be close to 300 lbs. I quit my job in finance, and am now a personal trainer.

My point is, there are those who can't lose weight without severe medical intervention. But they are few and far between. For the rest, it IS possible to lose weight. It does not take a special diet, or extreme exercising. It just takes walking everday (trust me, soon enough you will stop walking, and start running) and eating intelligently. That's it. "Weight Watchers" is a fantastic (and reasonably priced) nutrition program. "Curves" is a great place for women to go exercise, though a bit more expensive. But your local YMCA is your best bet; it offers a variety in exercise options, and is inexpensive. It IS possible. No excuses.

The only thing that stands in your way is yourself. Step out of your own way.

Jennifer Nicole Lee is a fitness model AND a mom (and there are no nanny's or personal trainers in her house) She used to be over-weight but she stopped making excuses and took control of her life. And now she's the most smoking hot MILF out there.

If it wasn't available she wouldn't have worn it. There are certain clothing options that were made for certain body types. Which is why I should not and will not wear a speedo. That being said I think the rest of the lot look fine.

Give this generation right here, and the one after it, time to swell our hospitals and insurance companies to bursting with their heart disease and diabetes, and watch the public service announcements begin. It's going to be awesome. They'll be giving cigarettes away and taxing the shit out of cheeseburgers, and I for one cannot wait.

Mix-match is an average, healthy, "well-nourished" size. Everyone else needs to lose 15 - 100 pounds, respectively. I can handle the ones who need to lose 15 pounds or so, those are vanity pounds and they're fine, but the fattie on the right is NOT "well-nourished" and she doesn't have "courage". She eats her feelings all day long, period.

God, I am sick of this whiny politically correct bullshit. Fat is ugly, it's unhealthy, and in just a few short years, it's going to crush our already-crumbling healthcare system.

If fattie on the right is average, it's only because more than half the population in this fat, disgusting country lives at fucking McDonalds.

  • Did anybody stop and think that maybe the obese woman has a medical problem? I wouldn't know the term for it, but it does exist. Plus, some women are more prone to gaining weight, and that (unfortunately) runs in my family.

My mother tried every diet in the world after having her three children (me being the oldest at 19) but had no success. She worked out, she ate the right foods, she drank nothing but water and NOTHING worked. When she married my dad 2 years before I was born (at 22), she was 160lbs at 5'9'' and looked HOT. I've seen pictures! Anyway, she ended up having to get gastric bypass surgery in 2004 when she weighed around 360 lbs because her health was in serious jeopardy.

My mother was by NO MEANS lazy or inconsiderate of her body! She didn't "wolf down cookies" or "ignore the treadmill." She tried every trick in the book. It's been 2 years since her surgery.

She's around 180lbs and looks amazing. Let's just say my stepdad's really happy!

If you absorb more calories than you expend, you lose weight. That simple. If you have a thyroid problem and don't burn enough calories? Eat less. Exercise more. Tough shit. People who claim that they do all those things and don't lose weight are lying. Ask any medical professional.

Don't want to? Okay...sounds harsh but they'll probably die young and remove tbeir crappy genetics (both the underlying medical condition and the laziness) from the gene pool anyway.

  • toxicwaste, here's the problem with your comparing your mother to the woman in the above picture. your mother had trouble losing weight after having three children - this girl is young, and most likely has no children. further, even if she did have children, at her age - if she wasn't taking in more calories than she's burning - she wouldn't retain that kind of weight. that's not baby weight, nor is it "glandular" weight - it's too much food weight. period. you can tell by looking at it.

so no, it didn't occur to me and still does not occur to me that she has a health condition. it's calories in versus calories out, i would bet my savings account on it.

while i believe you that your mother had problems losing weight after having children, i don't believe anything like that is the problem here. further, if your mother eventually needed gastric bypass, then it wasn't simply a matter of her not being able to lose the baby weight; it was a matter of her gaining even more excess weight on top of it. and that happens when you eat more than you burn, period. i have a naturally thin friend (by naturally thin, i mean she is 5'8" and has never weighed more than 125 despite the fact that she never watches her diet and never, ever works out) who, after giving birth to her first child at 31, still has not gotten below 150. she's watching her food religiously and working out daily, and she's only lost 10 pounds. so i know that happens. the thing is, she hasn't GAINED, either. if she tried to live now the way she lived pre-baby, she'd probably weigh more than she did when she was pregnant.

i suspect that's what happened with your mother. also, does "eating the right things" include portion control? who knows.

i don't dispute that some people have a propensity to carry and gain excess weight; i'm one of them. that's where self-discipline comes in. i could easily weigh 150 (probably by now much more than that) if i didn't watch it; as it is, i'm almost always 10 pounds overweight and the only times i'm not are the times i'm starving myself to achieve it. as it is, i work out (heavily - two hours of muay thai each day, six days a week, isn't 30 minutes on the stairclimber, that's for fucking sure) and keep my calories to between 1300 and 1800 a day and i'm still 125, which at my height (5'3") is chubby. i never drink soda. i never eat fast food. but still, i am round.

so yeah, i understand what it's like to not be able - genetically - to be thin. that said, i watch myself carefully, because even though i can't be skinny, i certainly don't have to be morbidly obese.

so while the woman in the above picture may very well be naturally round, she's not naturally THAT fucking round. i'd look just like her if i drank soda, ate fast food, and enjoyed restaurant portion sizes. i don't. the only difference between the two of us is that.

That is the exception, not the rule. The vast majority of overweight people in this country are that way by their own doing, yet so many claim to have a "thyroid" problem, which would be true if you consider "thyroid" code for "me likey ice cream with crumbled doritos sprinkled on top while I sit on my ass all day".

At the opposite end of the spectrum they treat their obesity as the only alternative to being thin. If I can't be a size 0, I'll be a size 42!

There is a balance called healthy living and eating here, you know?

I also agree with the poster that suggested a new doctor b/c if you are truly running 4 miles a day and eating healthy then there are surely other things at play here which are preventing you from losing weight. No one is saying you should be 120 lbs. (okay some would) but you should have atleast have a healthy BMI. You are still young and perfectly capable of changing your habits and lifestyle.

  • Fat people has no rights to wear a 2 piece? Like its so fucking delicious to see bony ass people like Nic Richie on the beach? Or women that looks like men because they have no boobs, hips or ass?? Maybe we should just ban all 2 piece unless you look exactly like Jessica Alba?? Would that satisfy you people? I think that girl on the right is in her full rights to wear what she wants when she wants. JUST TURN YOUR HEADS OR DONT LOOK AT THE PIC if you are that disgusted assholes. You dont HAVE to look ya know. And a whale? You obviously dont know much about whales:)

Anyway, so what if people in the world is to fat for your eyes?? Its not YOUR problem that someone is overweight is it???? Djeses ppl, take a look in the mirror and commenty yourselves instead of pics on the net. I'm sure you'll find a lot of faults on your own bodies instead.

  • For all the "this is what real woman look like" posters. This may be true for american (and increasingly european) women. But it should NOT be. The woman in this image are all unhealthingly overweight (with the possible exception of the one in the blue bathing trunk) No one wants skinny bitches like Nicole Ritchie but getting of their fat ass, doing some sports and eating salad instead of borritos would be good for most "real" woman in the western world. Twenty years ago woman didn't look like this.

  • Every single one of you complaining about how fat the girl on the right is - you're fucking stupid.
    Shutup.

See, there are men and women out there who PREFER obsese partners. There are those who LOVE the fat. The rolls of fat. The cankles and what not.

The point is...this is a fucking free country, and for that reason and that reason alone, this girl has no reason to feel as though she shouldn't wear whatever she damn well pleases on the beach. Of course, she won't fit in with most of the other women on the beach, but I'm sure she looked in the mirror - saw her stomach, her thighs, her arms....saw all of it and said, "You know what. Fuck everyone who judges me. This is me and I am proud of myself. Sure, I'm overweight. But I'm not going to shelter myself and live a life under baggy clothes just because I'm not healthy."

You all can sit on your fucking high horse and say "She needs to do this" Or "She's gonna die of a heart attack."

Okay, so what if she does? No skin off your back.

So shut the fuck up, all of you ridiculous, judgmental assholes. Get a grip and stop sitting on YOUR asses, obsessing about a girl who wore a bathing suit and happened to run into a celebrity.

  • I'm a Kelly Clarkson fan, yet even I know she looks chubby. So what. Her thigh size doesn't affect her voice; those with a medical background can correct me if I am wrong. :/ As for that rather large one on the right, again so what. Poor taste in a swimsuit. Big is big, I doubt there is much that young lady could wear that covers her large size.

    By Anonymous, on 6:54 AM

  • Because this is my field of study I thought I'd enlighten some people.

A person is considered to be obese if they carry an excess of body fat that is 20% over their ideal weight. Ideal weight is calculated by a person's BMI and cross referenced to their activity level.

If Kelly Clarkson is 5'3 then judging from the pictures I would estimate the lady in the blue bathing suit to be about 5'6. I'd estimate her weight to be between 150-160, so let's say 155. That gives us a BMI of 25. I'd place her ideal weight at about 128, so a weight of 155 is about 20% above her ideal body weight. This woman does not strike me as overly athletic so I would not consider muscle mass to be a significant factor in the equation. I would consider this woman to be obese.

To be considered morbidly obese it is generally agreed that a person must be 50% above their ideal body weight. Using the same ideology as above I would estimate the woman on the far right to be about 5'8 and 220 pounds. That gives us a BMI of 33.5. Given her size and adjusting for bone density I would mark her ideal weight at 140. A weight of 220 is 80 lbs or 57% above her ideal weight. I would consider this woman to be morbidly obese.

Anyone who said these women were at a higher risk for serious health problems were absolutely right. Anyone who chided commenters who said these women were overweight and/or obese were absolutely wrong. Obesity, with contributing factors or without, is a problem. To try to justify obesity in an attempt to normalize it as "how people are" is ridiculous.

No amount of what can be considered as habitual excess body fat is healthy. That's a medical fact. If you are overweight and have good vitals that's a short term blessing, but I don't know of a physician anywhere that will tell you it's healthy to carry extra pounds into your later years. If you're chronically obese and you're being told you're fit then you need to change doctors. Stat.

  • God, if I had a nickel for every pig that has "tried every diet in the world". You have to "try" longer than a week and you have to actually follow the diet, not make rationalizations to stuff your craw with whatever you crave.

Certainly there are medical conditions that can make it more difficult for people to lose weight. The body is a very complex machine, but weight loss for 99% of the world boils down to one very simple point:

BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU EAT AND YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT

So, you can eat less (without starving yourself) and keep burning calories and at least stop the bleeding. If you really want to accelerate the process, eat healthy, lower calorie foods and exercise enough to burn more calories off. End of story.

BTW - there's actually foods out there, mostly fresh vegetables and some fruits, that are "negative calorie" foods. In other words, your body burns more calories digesting them than they contain.

It's not hard to lose weight. It's hard to be disciplined enough to control your lust for food, or to learn to compensate for your emotional issues in other ways than eating.

And please, dress appropriately. Chubby girls can be really hot when they dress in an attractive manner, and they actually make ONE PIECE bathing suits to help those that aren't supermodels. But a couple of these pigs have no excuse except not caring if everyone sees their fat, and good for them. I just hope they don't expect to gain any male attention (other than laughing or gagging) by dressing like that in public.

    By Anonymous, on 2:59 PM

  • I am a skinny chick. I don't think "fat" is "normal". However, not all "fat" people are "lazy". Losing weight is not easy. Lay off the girls in these pics, because they aren't celebrities. They don't expect to have their pictures splashed all over the internet to be commented on by very cruel people. How would any of us feel if pictures of us were taken by some stranger and put on the internet for the express purpose of being ridiculed and picked apart?

    By Anonymous, on 6:51 PM

  • The girl on the right is fat - in an unhealthy way. The rest of the girls in the photos look pretty amazing. The one with the short hair doesn't do it for me, but the one in the blue/green 2-piece with her back mostly to the camera looks pretty fine.

I'm all for encouraging the natural woman look, but there is well rounded and there is bloody obese unhealthy fat. You gotta draw the line somewhere.

    By Anonymous, on 8:49 AM

  • Where are these "real" girls who are morbidly obese??? I may see a couple every so often, but I really don't see girls like THAT on a regular basis for them to be called "real"! The other 4 girls look normal, maybe a little over weight but nothing some cardio can't fix. Am I a thin chik? Nope, I fit in with the other 4 girls in the picture who need to run a bit to lose a jiggly tummy, butt and thighs for the summer. I will blind people enough with my white skin that I don't need to gross them out with my jiggles.
Should people be bashed for being obese? No, BUT they should not be told it is OK! I'm not perfect, I know that. I have shit skin, jiggles, etc, but that is life. Does that mean I won't bash someone who is obese? Nope, I'm a cunt and I know that. Does it make me feel better? Of course it does because I get a laugh out of it, and the people I am around also get a laugh out of it. Does it mean I have low self-esteem? Nope, it means I enjoy Schaudenfraude. I like who I am, wouldn't want to trade places with anyone :)

All of you on your high horses: I know you have made fun of someone before, or laughed at someone's mean comments. If you say you have NEVER done that you are a liar because everyone at some point in their life takes joy in someone elses misery, most people are just too ashamed to admit it.

  • Gerry, I object to your insinuation that I'm not a fucktard.

And if you're going to try to piss on someone's parade, use your shift key. Fucktard.

  • "Is everyone else blind, or am I the only one that can see that they were swimming?"

ummm.... sory to burst your bubble, but going to the beach and getting in the water does not equal "swimming". i seriously doubt that these girls were out in the deep water swimming mile long laps.

  • final word:

girl on far right: morbidly obese.

blue bathing suit and kelly- could stand to lose 15-20 pounds, overweight.

mismatched bathing suit and black bathing suit: healthy weights-maybe not the LOWEST possible weight, but a healthy weight.

  • Thanks, 6:51. It's not like none of us have flaws. I'm preety skinny and I still wouldn't want to see my ass in a two piece plasted on the internet for assholes to comment on. I'm sure if a picture of every one of us was posted on here there would be something physical we could pick on ...

... now let's stop fighting and get back to what's natural .. hating celebrities ...

  • The weird thing is, all of these girls were attractive (and thin, by definition) before Kelly waddled up and started talking to them.

  • Is she a laaaaaaaarge girl? Big through the hips? Roomy?

  • I find it amusing when some of you feel the need to justify yourselves by putting your height and weight and how much you work out blah blah blah...thats fine, good for you, and I hope it doesn't change as you get older. BUT, why do you care so much about how big someone else is? Is the food going in your mouth? I don't think so. Are you insecure? If it makes you feel that much better about yourself to call someone else a "hippo" more power to ya, but I'd suggest you worry more about your own lives than someone else's you don't even know.
