    By Anonymous, on 10:03 AM

  • He killed 4 people. That makes him a mass murderer in my book.

  • Lord Farquaad? he's not tall enough.

  • How could you get your facts so twisted? Hitler was the mass murderer that Claus von Stauffenberg attempted to assassinate. Hitler survived the bomb blast and Colonel von Stauffenberg was executed. You owe the von Stauffenberg family an apology.

    By Anonymous, on 10:13 AM

  • His intention was to resist the Nazis, not accidently kill those four people. He was attempting to stop Hitler, the leader of a movement which killed 11 million people.

  • Claus von Stauffenberg was a fuckup. He couldn't just shoot Hitler in the back of the head? He deserves to be ripped for not getting the job done.

    By Anonymous, on 10:20 AM

  • I suppose then that any military person who has ever killed more than one person at a time, like a pilot dropping a bomb on a manned tank, is a mass murderer?

    By Anonymous, on 10:20 AM

  • killing four people at once = mass murdered

    By Anonymous, on 10:22 AM

  • He planted a bomb under a table? What a fucking moron!

    By Anonymous, on 10:22 AM

  • so tom forgot to put the lifts in his shoes. the guy is such a munchkin.

  • You don't like the term "mass murderer", but that doesn't change the definition.

    By Anonymous, on 10:24 AM

  • 10:15 AM,
He gives a fuck if his "intention" was to kill Hitler, he didn't. That makes him a mass murderer and an idiot.

    By Anonymous, on 10:33 AM

  • Even though he did kill multiple people, mass murder tends to imply innocence among the victims, which isn't true in this case. Of the 4 people killed in the bombing, at least 3 were military officers attending a conference held by Hitler. The intention was to remove Hitler, take control of the government, and sue for peace with the Allies, all during the summer of 1943.

In depth accounts of the plot can be read at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_20_Plot

    By Anonymous, on 10:35 AM

  • Ahhhh, the old "bomb under the table" trick. Nice one, moron.

    By Anonymous, on 10:35 AM

  • Most of the people who worked for Hitler did it because they were forced to, you either do it or die.

    By Anonymous, on 10:37 AM

  • Von Stauffenberg was not a mass murderer. He attempted to kill Hitler and several of his chief lieutenants who were themselves responsible for the murders of many innocent people. He succeeded in killing four of them.

    By Anonymous, on 10:42 AM

  • Shame on you---shame---for referring to Col. Claus von Stauffenberg as a "mass murderer" for having had the supreme courage to direct an assassination attempt at Hilter and the Nazi hierarchy at the Wolf's Lair in late 1944. Because of the failure of one of the bombs in the briefcase, and because the briefcase was moved away from Hilter---the real mass murderer, as you fail to note---under the conference table, the attempt failed, as a result of which Von Stauffenberg was executed by firing squad the next day. Would you have had the courage to do what von Stauffenberg did? I rather doubt it. You are not all that different from the Hollywood gasbags whom you skewer daily, whether you realize it or not.

  • The second world war, which was clearly Hitler's idea, killed 72 Million people!!!! (Source)
Stauffenberg is a declared national Hero, some of the few that dared to do something against Hitler.

By Tyler Jan Becker, on 10:55 AM

  • regardless of what the definition may state, the term mass murderer implies that the killer was doing so out of malice, ie for the sake of killing. In this case, von Stauffenberg was trying to end what millions were dying because of and the only way to end that was to kill the figurehead. He was trying to save us all...and yes, he killed four others, but it was not in vain, and not for the sake of killing them. They were just as bad as hitler.

  • Looks like Todd struck a nerve with the Jews.

"Throw the Jew down the well."

    By Anonymous, on 11:17 AM

  • In July 1944, Von Stauffenberg (and a few other German officers) attempted an elaborate plot to kill Hitler, overthrew the Nazi regime, and negotiate an end to the war (at least on the Western Front). Von Stauffenberg left the bomb under the table in the briefing room in the headquarters in East Prussia so that he could fly back to Berlin and help the coup. When Hitler survived the blast, the plot failed, and Von Stauffenberg was executed. Many others died horrible deaths (some were hanged to death with piano wire) at the hands of the Gestapo. When Hitler killed himself in Spring 1945, he was still suffering the aftereffects of the bomb blast, so at least Von Stauffenberg's actions may have hindered his ability to run the Nazi regime. It's ridiculous to call one of the few people who tried stop Hitler a mass murderer.

    By Anonymous, on 11:18 AM

  • I would have more respect for him if he shot Hitler at point blank range in his fucking face, but this idiot coward stuck a bomb under a desk. He's a moron.

    By Anonymous, on 11:19 AM

  • Nobody is denying Hitler's a fucking tyrant, and Todd isn't siding with Hitler.

You stupid sensitive idiots read too much into everything! So Todd used a technical term, big fucking deal. Shut up about it already!

  • I agree... its hard to believe that Tom Cruise used to be popular. Now everyone hates him and his phony "religion."

BTW, get over the whole "mass murderer" thing, that's not even what this post is about.

    By Anonymous, on 11:36 AM

  • ok history lesson...the actually plan was for Von Stauffenberg & the coup to kill hitler and most of his top staff that were meeting at the time...thusly over throwing the whole nazi goverment and ending the war. The fact that he killed 4 people does not make him a mass murderer but someone through his bravery along w/ others stood up & tried to stop evil. He should have statues built to him and be a role model.

    By Anonymous, on 11:42 AM

  • To all of you here trying to prove that von Stauffenberg was a hero and not a mass murderer, give it up! Most of the people here are way too young to have a true understanding of Hitler and/or World War 2.
To them it is just something they had to learn in history class. Which was probably not even entirely correct since todays history has been re-written by the politically correct crowd.
WW2 means as much to most posters here as the pilgrims.

If 4 people rioted, is that a mass rioting?

If 4 people held signs up and picketed, is that a mass picket?

    Stop it.

    mass murderer
    n.

    1. A person, especially a political or military leader, who is responsible for the deaths of many individuals.
    2.
    1. A person who kills several or numerous victims in a single incident.
    2. A serial killer.

    -----------------------------

    "several", "many" = 4

    4 is "several"

    You "stop it"

Shame on those of you who feel that WWII is ancient history. Simpletons.

  • I got annoyed about scientology one day after reading about some bullshit some scientologist did and decided to research it. I read somewhere that Germany considers it a dangerous cult, not a religion, so it's not officially 'recognised' by the country and i think scientology centers are also illegal (this may not be exactly right, but that's the gist of it). There are some things that the rest of the world could learn from Germany, or at least one.

    By Heather, on 1:17 PM

  • Wow, so he killed a bunch of high ranking Nazis while attempting to assassinate Hitler, what a bastard!

    By Anonymous, on 2:05 PM

  • Wow, things are heating up...
But what you're actually saying is that because Stauffenberg succeeded in killing four military men who were with Hitler but not Hitler himself, he's a "mass murderer". So, what if he had actually killed him as well - still one, or maybe...someting else?
I'm just thinking people should be careful in making those sorts of judgements.
And BTW - there's lots to be disputed about Stauffenberg's involvement and intentions. Certainly not here though.

Back on track: Cruise in that role is just as hilarious as it's upsetting (leaving aside Scientology, still).

    By Anonymous, on 2:21 PM

  • i'd take Hitler over extremist islamists any day. he believed in the power of genetic purity. at least that made contact with the world of modern science, and the modern world in general; if he had won, eventually his own highly educated people would have taken him down. can you really say that about any of the extremist islamists? you don't think they'd put up holocaust numbers if they had the means to do so? if they took over a country, do you really think it wouldn't go backwards? the only examples are to the contrary. plus, hitler had way cooler facial hair - anybody can just throw the razor away.

  • There was a documentary on short people in the UK this week and this short dude went into a London shoe store that specializes in shoes with heels on the inside (mainly for men). The high-end shoe retailer (I forget the name) said that Tom Cruise was one of the most famous customers for years (when he was married to Kidman), because he was so sensitive about his height (or lack thereof). I just thought I would share that with everyone. Lord Farquaad. Hahahaha

  • You know when teens are seen in malls or on the streets making out to show off but don't really know what real love is or how to express it because they aren't in love? Well, that's how I see Tom Cruise with any woman.

He's trying so hard to show love that it's coming across as really ingenuine. He was never like that with any other woman (1st wife, 2nd wife, Penelope Cruz), but it's like he has something to prove with this fake marriage.

Although he and John Travolta will never come out of the closet (because Ron L Hubbard and Xenu would kill them), clearly he's a homo. And no one loves closet homos.

    HOMO!

  • Claus von Stauffenberg had way more guts than the losers who are dissing him -- he risked his life and lost it in an attempt to stop a war and save lives, and it was just bad luck that he failed.

Tell me, twits, what do YOU do to improve the world? The Cruiser is unworthy to lick his shoes. Although seeing him try a German accent would be HYSTERICAL.

Oh, and "mass murderer" does NOT refer to trying to kill Nazi commanders, nor does it usually apply to someone who killed several people ACCIDENTALLY. If a driver has a car accident that kills three people, does that make him a mass murderer?

GET REAL !!! therefore the bomb in the briefcase under the table. we are NOT in Hollyweird like Dirty Harry walking in and killing all the people in that room! damnit, read books!! don't just watch that fucking TV!! he was NOT a massmurderer! and yes, Scientology suxx as bad as Tom 'Hubbard' Cruise and all the other 'STARS' joining the Hubbard-Clan!

  • Stauffenberg failed to assassinate Hitler because their meeting was placed earlier then expected. Stauffenberg was only able to arm one of the two bombs in the briefcase which was made difficult by the fact that he had three fingers on his left hand, no right hand and one eye left. Also, the briefcase was probably moved under the table after Stauffenberg left the room.
I have nothing against insulting short, ugly movie stars like Tom Cruise, but please leave national heros out.

No Gibson was right when he said Jews have ruined Hollywood, in fact Ill take that a step further, they have no moral fiber and run Hollywood thus brainwashing the public. They dont care about anything but a dollar. They have no salvation so have no reason to have morals. They will air anything for a dollar and every other movie depicts Germans as devils. They defend criminals and cry when the Christians who founded this country place any trace of that in a public place. Its like the the Ameican indians didnt get wiped out, no its all about the poor jews. Fuck the Jews, we WOULD be better off if they were wiped out. Smart people yes, and honestly I dont really mean anyone should die but they simply have no concept of a value system that does not include money. I live in LA and NY before that, my contact is extensive. All my friends say the same thing, impossable to deal with, always looking for a discount and peddle anything or anyone for money.
Tom C is nuts, we all know the cult he belongs to is even worse. And Mel Gibson makes one bloody movie after another...he should talk!

True, von Stauffenberg was far from a mass murderer, and is a hero of the anti-Nazi resistance, but if this website described me as, say, uh, a cross-dressing psychotic fascist nutball, for purposes of hilarity, I would laugh first and ask questions later.

  • We already have a fantastic Stauffenberg picture starring Sebastian Koch (actor from "Life of the others") - so IMHO there's no need to produce another one. Tom Cruise would NOT be the perfect cast for this impressive historic person. Sure, 4 people were killed by the attempt. But calling him a mass murderer is a bit over the top. He tried to save the world and his nation from one of the biggest mass murderers of all times. So did Georg Elser. Tom Cruise would be a punch in the face for all resistance fighters and a ridiculous cast. Tom, go and play fictive characters like HUNT - do not play with history trying to polish your image, you self called messiah.a good German

  • Update--Katie Holmes, prisoner of Tom Cruise, day 875...

    By Anonymous, on 4:29 PM

  • Von Stauffenberg is a coward. He didn't even have the courage to ensure the assassination was completed. He ran out of the room and flew back to Berlin while his comrades-in-arms were snuffed out. If he had been a real man he would have (1) used a method that would be successful and (2) done it himself. He died the death of a traitor and a coward.

    By Anonymous, on 2:43 PM

  • Wow! I'd love to see film of the lives of these people who are calling von Stauffenberg a coward, a man who spent years at incredible risk to his own life cajoling and bullying Wehrmacht officers into joining this conspiracy--men who could turn him in at any time. The Colonel was a Renaissance man, a humanist, a man of extraordinary bravery, badly mutilated in North Africa. Who in these appalling posts has ever been so challenged , has ever acted with the courage of any conviction whatever? Just a bunch of foulmouthed know-nothings from what I can tell. Read some history.
