I really hate this guy.

As sick as I felt reading the L.A. Times account of 'An Evening with Joe Francis' and this girl's story, I felt even more ill when I read that they had eye witness accounts of her partying outside of the Girls Gone Wild van for several hours after the alledged rape occured.

Joe Francis is a sick f*** no doubt about it, but if this statement is true, than what the hell is wrong with these girls? Alcohol can't account for everything. Yes, we have all done stupid, impulsive things in our lives, especially when young, and intoxicated, but face it, we all know where the line should be drawn.

I think the case was more about she had plans to flash on TV, get drunk, and giggle about it with her girlfriends. Bad choice, in my mind, but hardly criminal. But once she was brought back to a van, she proceeded to make some REALLY shitty decisions, in part because she WAS too drunk, and in part because she felt like a fucking idiot for getting herself into that situation in the first place. At that point, her niavete and drunkenness WAS abused. call it what you want: stupidity, drunkenness, sluttiness... none of those things give Joe Francis or ANY man the right to fuck every girl who has ever been guilty of these mistakes. Anyone who says it does sounds pathetic and frighteningly narcissistic.

I think everyone here is of the same general concensus about Joe Francis, and we all understand the legal parameters defining rape.

But what a lot of us are saying is that personal accountability has to come into play at some point. I was always taught that a women needs to have her wits about her when in a public place where people are drinking, AND that I needed to be sure not to put myself in dangerous situations. If that meant not getting s***faced, then so be it.

You have to make a judgement call. I did my share of dumb, and impulsive things, and yes, looking back I was pretty fortunate I didn't get into more trouble than I did- but going to some place when porn is advertised to be filmed, and getting into a van with someone that obviously had made comments about taking my virginity, then taking all of my clothes off, and using a dildo while I was being filmed?

I'm not defending this asswipe, but these girls make it way too easy. They have lost credibility from the standpoint of setting limits and having anyone believe them. Legally, it may be rape, and from the standpoint of taking advantage of an intoxicated, reckless girl, it's criminal- from a purely cause and effect standpoint- this was self inflicted. If she stayed around to party for several more hours, then I won't shed any tears for her. Hopefully, she and other girls can learn from this.

Listen, of course in most situations the victim has no responsibility in being raped, ONLY the rapist and his vicious actions. However, dont you think that these girls basically strapped on the steaks and walked right into the lions den? I mean they didnt mean to be eaten, but did? Very well said 8:42 PM. Yes, Francis is a lothsome piece of shit, but denying that these women could have acted in a manner that could have prevented this from happening is not only delusional, it is dangerous.

Women need to get the message that they CAN often prevent themselves from being abused this way by using common sense, and acting intelligently. As one poster noted, there was no gun to the head, no forced physical threats, just their own egos, and quest for instant fame. Cheap fame. Your body, and your dignity for a cheap T-shirt. Not to mention your image on film for anyone would has $19.99 and the price of postage.

I was lucky enough to be raised in a home where I was given self-respect and educated about how NOT to act in public. Also, I have my wits about me. You can't say the same for the girls in these stories. Like so many people have asked... where are their parents??
