I think the deal is, they are assuming she is going to behave well. And there is a law there since the jails are overcrowded that you get one day off your sentence for every day of "good behavior." So, your sentence is automatically cut in half. Now the guards can only hope that good behavior in Paris Hilton's book means cash and handjobs.

If anything this proves that the American justice system is finally treating celebrities and rich people the same way it treats everyone else. She's getting the same sentence that your everyday person would have gotten. The only way that she is being treated different is she will be in protective custody and not in general population, which if you ask me it's worst to be in protective custody because you only get to come out of your cell for 1 hour a day, people in general population get to spend most of the day outside of their cell. Protective custody is what's known as 23 & 1, 23 hours in your cell, 1 hour out, and I'd imagine that it gets pretty boring sitting in a small room with nothing to do for 23 hours a day, you can read books but I doubt that Paris even knows how to read.

If you want to get technical she hasn't had any time removed from her sentence for good behavior yet, they are just assuming that Paris will not cause any problems while she's behind bars and not get written up for breaking any rules. As long as she behaves herself when she's in jail she'll only have to do 23 days. But if she does break any of the rules when she's there they could take her good time away(good time is the time they take off your sentence for good behavior).
Goes to show that money talks s### walks. Great example for all the youth of America especially the ones who really get to go to jail for the same offense and their parents don't have the money to buy off the officials. Ah! isn't this country great, especially for the wealthy. I'm sure she will as the president for a pardon.
