What you saw is pretty much typical of Japanese TV (in that how it is displayed). Japanese TV is like beyond silly, Samurai westerns or some pretty decent international movies. Anyways, the level of enthusiasm exhibited is in tribute to their guest, Johnny Depp.
I love, love, love Johnny Depp, but he's just doing what he gets paid to do. He gets paid A LOT of money to sit through shit like this. He could be scrubbing toilets for a living. But yes, all celebrities should be as gracious and cool as Johnny.
You would've all done the same thing. To have those precious kids working so hard to entertain you, you would've been flattered...even though it was weird and long.
They are precious and talented. Depps got kids, I'm sure he got it.

I like the little one. Out of CONTROL! I just love how excited they were. It was sweet, and funny. I love how Johnny was being polite and appreciative and then occasionally cracked up laughing. This whole video made my day.
that was fuckin' hilarious. i love it. he was very gracious & understanding with how they do things. they worked hard so no wonder he was gracious. they have an amazing culture, by the way.

MY He did handle Soooo much better than I would have, I woudl have busted my ass laughing... But I think it is the Father in him that kept him from just freaking out really.. I am a mother myself, but i dont know If i am that good of a mother, that i wouldnt pee in front of them
He is truly a down to earth actor. U know any other actor woulda laughed and stared at his agent like "WTF?" Not Johnny, hes awsome.
Another thing, is it just me or do our american kids really suck at performing in school plays?? They are still doing peter pan in highschool while these little speedy six year olds in japan are doing cirque du soleil in kindergarden. DAMN!
I live in Japan and I've never seen that show before, must be on only occasionally or something. That's about as calm as TV gets here, you should see some of the other shows we get. He's been there before, I heard him say to one woman "You I already know", she's his Japanese to English interpreter. Those kids were probably sooooo nervous to play in front of him and it was all for the sake of pure camp and to entertain their honored guest. Too bad many people on this comment board have no sense of humour. If I had been him, I would have reacted the same way. They did their best, those kids were great.
