The accident was tragic, but the kid wasn't using a crosswalk, and the other cars who'd stopped in the middle of the road to let him cross shouldn't have done that. They helped kill this kid by helping him cross a busy street without using a crosswalk. Gayheart was going over the speed limit, but it's still not manslaughter by any means. Sad story though.

She also paid all the family's hospital bills and funeral expenses. This is a lot more punishment than a lot of people get, and she also did a lot more for the kid's family than most people do. I know it's a tragic story, but we don't know what this girl goes through every day emotionally dealing with this. I don't think it's fair to expect her to spend the rest of her life at home crying.

She was not "on her cell phone" btw. That's a myth. She used her cell phone to call 911 immeadiatly after the accident and witnesses saw this and thus began the rumor.There were several witnesses quoted in the paper who said she grabbed her phone "after" the incident and not before.

She shows up in court, on time mind you, takes full responsibilty for her mistake, pays up and even goes beyond that to reach out to the family of the boy she accidently killed. There were two cars hogging the lanes and stopped in the middle of the road, and Rebecca was in a hurry and didn't realize they had stopped to let that kid cross the road, and he wasn't using a crosswalk. She sped up and moved around those cars which were illegally stopped. Then the kid walked right out in front of her and she hit him, she didn't see him coming. She broke a couple of traffic laws, but so did everyone else involved including the victim. The other two cars shouldn't have helped endanger this kid's life by stopping and letting him cross there.

Most people can’t see past the fact that Ms. Gayheart was/is a beautiful actress. She’s an actress, she’s successful, she’s white, ergo she must be a snotty bitch!
