I'm sure the boy will turn out fine. His dad left his mom 8 months before he was born, in favor of a Brazilian supermodel. If he's lucky, his dad will keep up child-support payments for the next 18 years--and little else. His mom won't be a has-been because she never was.
You can be using birth control exactly the way it's supposed to be used and stll get pregnant. I had an IUD inside of me and still got pregnant. they had to take it out when I found out I was pregnant. She's 22 now and magna cum laude (dean's honor list) at a major university in her senior year.
