Hello to all you European posters. Yes, this is a friendly and beautiful place for you. I recommend the beaches over the bridge into Sand Key and to avoid St. Pete. Clearwater beach is full of drunken kids, is overcrowded, and expensive. Much of the beach has washed away from the major hotels there and you will discover no beach in many spots when you get there. Better vacation on the other side of Sand Key. Hope that helps.

i dunno how things really work in the USA, but surely the driver has the responsibility of ensuring his passengers are wearing seatbelts? i mean its his car, he is the person being responsible (term can't be applied here). If it was kids in the back without seat belts, then i guess that would be nicks fault, because they are minors in his car, so why is this any different just because his passenger was an adult?

Anyone know the neighborhood? Multi billion in hotel and tourism renovations where he was speeding. Not an American devalued dollar spot; lots of nice European tourist money. The natives and investors WILL NOT take kindly to this bad publicity. The roadways there are narrow, dangerous to navigate. There seems to be little law enforcement for the very rich living on the bay side of the Gulf. If you are white and rich, of course.

Wait, tell us: aren't all "men" required to register for the draft? Shouldn't Nick Hogan be sent over to Iraq or Pakistan for service on the front lines? Maybe his father should force him to do THAT, you know, good PR, good way to avenge putting his "friend" up for a life sentence as a vegetable and his friend's family in for a life of living hell? I once was ordering dinner at a steakhouse while vacationing there, as I did bring my Yankee vacation dollars there every year. Two very large, very muscular, very handsome blond men were standing next to my table. I heard the words, "jew jew jew jew," and asked my husband where was there a Jew? My husband grabbed my wrist, hard, and told me to shut up, when I realized they were referring to ME, with my dark curls and German descent background. He had to hold me back, as I was ready to slug those brutes. I was then served a salad with bugs on the plate when I decided to get up and leave. My coward of a husband deserted me as I stood on the steps of the steakhouse turning away an hour of their dinnertime business by telling them there were bugs in the food and the restaurant was dirty. And the bugs were not the dirtiest vermin in that place, if you get my drift. I exercised my free speech and DID NOT give in to those hoods. Or the manager, when caught telling everyone of how I was treated.

Hello to all you European posters. Yes, this is a friendly and beautiful place for you. I recommend the beaches over the bridge into Sand Key and to avoid St. Pete. Clearwater beach is full of drunken kids, is overcrowded, and expensive. Much of the beach has washed away from the major hotels there and you will discover no beach in many spots when you get there. Better vacation on the other side of Sand Key. Hope that helps.
And they WILL pull you over and lock your ass up if you are a little different than ARIAN looking, you betcha. In a NY minute. I recommend NY for travel. You can always beach on Long Island, which is pristine.

There is no draft at the moment. The US has troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pakistan is an ally (sort of).

I've never been to Clearwater but I don't think it's fair to judge an entire place based on one very shitty family. You find parents and spoilt, irresponsible brats like this all over the world. But I do find it hilarious, given the horribly racist comments that are par for the course here, that you take exception to someone criticising one small part of America. On the other hand - it's heartening to hear that no one has fallen for the 'legalese' bullshit and can see exactly what this family and their legal team are.
