What a whiny little bitch. So they paid him, what, only 10 mil instead of the 15 mil he thought he deserved? He should be thanking his lucky stars that he got paid whatever he was for his awful movie.
When you read this stuff about someone once, you think, hey, hopefully this is just a rumor. But it seems like I read tis shit about Norton all the damn time. Now I have no doubt he's a spoiled rotten douchebag with a tiny penis.
Edward Norton is a dickbag who got beat up daily in grade school. By girls. If he wasn't an "actor" he'd probably be a CPA in Omaha driving a Buick. Fuck him.
...than again, maybe Edward Norton has a reason for doing what he's doing, and he's not airing the laundry for the greedy rumour buzzards to get their beaks into. Maybe he's dealing with it in an adult way by keeping it private.
I think it's kind of lame that he's not doing much publicity for it, but i see where he's coming from. I was really surprised when i saw downey jr in a preview and i think it was a bad move on the studio's part in showing that scene in it. Now when people watch the movie they'll be anticipating downey jr's appearance which will take away from the movie.
I saw the movie already, and thought he did a great job as Hulk (ie. after transforming into the green beast). But when he's in his regular human form, his character seems cartoonish, as if it was computer animation.
He's just playing the negotiations game to get more money. I'm not a particularly big fan of his and this might not be the most classy way to do it, but if he can get more money out of those fat, filthy rich, sleazy, scumbag movie producers and studio executives, so much the better. Like many actors who make it big, he's found out he's been getting it in the ass from these guys for years and now it's payback time.
Actually... word is Norton wrote the script that he really thought was great. He was really into the Hulk and wanted to make the movie perfect. The studio made lots of changes to it that he hated and believed ruined his movie... this is the fallout. If this is true, he is the opposite of what was said above. He has artistic integrity and didn't like the man adding in the kiddy bullshit. I'm a fan of the guy, I refuse to believe this is about money.
Wasn't he just on Jimmy Kimmel? And he was doing a press junkett too, I heard clips of him on Howard Stern the other day promoting the movie. So I don't see that he's NOT promoting it. I think it sounds like people are making a mountain out of a molehill.
Arrggh. Are these actors unaware of the number of members of the Screen Actors Guild? Do they never glance behind them to see the unending queue of hopefuls, plenty of whom are at least as talented, if not more so, not to mention better looking and not assholes? (I figure there are some. Just, you know, statistically speaking.)
Maybe acting school should offer How Not To Be A Complete Idiot and Ruin Everything, taught by David Caruso.
Or, if he has time--which he would totally make--How Not to Be a Pretentious Shithead and Focus On Actually Getting Good At Your Job, taught by Johnny Depp.
Well, he did co-write the screenplay and star in the film. The story posted here doesn't explain at all what led to him backing out of promoting the film. Hmmm, maybe it's unfair to assume he's a whiny b*tch? He's put out pretty much nothing but really good performances in everything I've seen him in. Maybe he just has some integrity?
Wow, all of these comments, aside from some rational people, are based on a headline and absolutely NO information in the text of the story. No, there are no toxic posters on THIS site.
I like Ed Norton. He takes his work seriously and he's got a lot of other serious interests aside from acting.
That's why I think this version of The Hulk is likely to be a lot better than the first one, which was just a throwback 80s bloat, complete with a wannabe Guns N' Roses (Velvet Revolver) and CGI effects everywhere. It was horrible.
Norton probably doesnt even need to promote it much, it cant be any worse than the first attempt.
13:23, I usually reserve my judgement on a good amount of halfways-normal-looking people until I've actually met them. Ed Norton is relatively normal-looking, and I've met him.
And he's a pansy-assed primadonna.
There's such a thing as common courtesy when you're being introduced to someone and he didn't give it. Although my ex said he looked him up and down like he was a piece of meat. So I feel it is my right, having met the prick, to say what I think of him. And it's not good.
Eeesh. You know how much it pains me to see the words ex-husband? Piece of shit that he is? You're bringing me down, Brrroooooce.
Yeah, we were introduced at a big Toronto function. Eddie took one look at me and said "Yeah it's niceuhmeetyuhmmmyeah" and started looking elsewhere. But when the ex came to join me he was suddenly dead interested. To this day the ex swears Norton gave him the once over and smiled that I'd-Like-To-Have-You-Bent-Over-A-Couch kind of smile.
I never saw it. I was too busy being pissed off.
Suffice to say, the ex won't watch Fight Club. And I'll bet you a keg of Kilkenny he won't go to see The Hulk either.
I don't think Fight Club is his best work either, although it is apparently his best known. He is an awesome actor, in my opinion, (See Primal Fear) but that doesn't give him the right to be a whiny douchnozzle. And whether everything is true or not, you hear it about him enough to know that some of it has to be.
Vigilante, I LOVE you. Not just cause of the Ed Norton comment, but the ex comment. I just wish you could knock some sense into me about my 'ex'. I unfortunately still have "blinders" on.
YOU PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID! GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT ABOUT A VERY TALENTED ARTIST! HE HELPED WRITE AN EXEMPLARY SCRIPT THAT THEY TWISTED INTO A HOLLYWOOD CONFECTION; UTTER TRASH. USE SOME LOGIC.
shame on universal/Marvel! Having Downey Jr. Show up on the commercials for Hulk was a shameless plug! first, they said it was likely a money issue. second, universal and marvel wouldn't show downey in the commercials unless they were trying to get more money, more people going to see it.
regardless of if norton is a pansy ass pouting 3 year old or not, you can't just be critical of him.
They produced what appears to be a garbage movie. Is it supposed to be better than the last Hulk they made like a few minutes before this one? Why are they even making this again? It looks like it has the same cartoon cheese as the last one. If I were him, I wouldn't want to promote this crap either. But of course, if I were him, I wouldn't have accepted the role in the first place. More hopping green giants anyone? BAH!
guess what ACTING IS HIS JOB.... if your boss didn't honor part of your contract, you should do the same thing he is doing.
you guys do realize that there are hundreds of pages of contracts spelling all of this stuff out from both sides (the studio and the actors)? sound like the studio violated part of the contract and he is acting accordingly.

If Marvel didn't know he was this kind of a prick beforehand then it serves them right.
Edward Norton got some fame and became a little bitch. It's not a secret.

I wish the cameo in the movie would be she-hulk bitch slapping him like he deserves. I'm glad he's not promoting the movie - I can't stand him anyway.

Ed Norton is the type of guy who would sign on to play Daffy Duck and then demand a rewrite because his role was too silly.
By anonymous, on June 13, 2008 10:05:18
Cut him some slack; he's probably still angry with himself because he fucked Courtney Love a few years back.
