  1. I was really sad to hear about Bernie, I loved his show...and I had no idea about Isaac until just now. It's a really really sad year for entertainment, losing all this great talent who contributed so much to our culture. Thank you guys for posting that up here!

  2. "When a kid is 1 year old...he old enough to get punched in the throat"...."I'll fuck a kid up"...

    Classic!

  3. Dammit. RIP Bernie. Thanks for the laughs, man.

  4. Isaac Hayes is with Xenu now.

  5. BMac was so funny, IH had such a great voice. Both way too young to go. RIP what a shame.

  6. not to be a jerk , I think both deaths are a great loss. But how f'ed up would it be if like Bill Cosby died. I mean Mac was 50 , Hayes was 65 and Cosby is 71.

  7. Too bad Isaac wasn't a "clear." In Scientology if you're a "clear" that means you've reached the highest level possible (and paid enough millions) to be considered clear of all "body thetans" (or evil alien spirits) so when you die you don't actually die. You get to live forever and get reincarnated. Tom Cruise isn't even a clear. hahah Scientology is such a stupid fucking cult.

  8. Bernie Mac's scene was the funniest part of Transformers. I still think of it and laugh.

"Son, I'm a lot of things. A liar's not one of them. Especially not in front of my Mammy. Hey, Mammy!.....Oh don't be like that! If I had a rock I'd bust your head bitch. I tell you man, she deaf, you know."

  9. The weird thing is that both of them are in a movie coming out in a few months called "Soul Men", I think that movie is cursed.

  10. really really sad. it always happens to the good ones. and since we're talking about comedian death watch, in all honesty, i'd rather be dane cook's roommate than have to spend ten minutes with carlos mencia....so yeah.

  11. 08:58:05 - Tom Cruise is a "Clear." At this point, I think Cruise is in nearly direct control of the future of the "church" of Scientology. Yes, it's a really stupid fucking cult. The fact that anyone falls for that shit shows that there's a diminished hope for humanity at large and none for celebrities specifically.

  12. The world will now be deprived of Chef's salty balls. Forever. And they say God is a loving being...

  13. Ruined my weekend, it did.

I loved Bernie Mac, even though he just took Robin Harris' (RIP) material and ran with it.

Isaac Hayes? Man, that really blows. Dying while exercising, too? I'm going to eat some bread fried in fatback.

  14. there's a diminished hope for humanity at large

    10:02:25,

If it makes you feel any better (I know it does me), Co$'s numbers are way, WAY down from where they were in the 80's and 90's. That's why they went for the celebrity round-up. Despite all the publicity they've managed to drum up recently, creating the impression that "everybody" is joining up, recruitment efforts continue to fail and their "congregation" continues to shrink. The facts are available online someplace, forget where I saw it. But, like with all things Hollywood, don't fall for the bullshit. They're in trouble. No way in hell would David Miscavage have strutted down the street in broad daylight in some dumb gay outfit 10-20 years ago, paranoid little fuck that he is. Now he'll do anything to keep that craphouse going, even wear a Members Only jacket.

  15. I thought Bernie Mac was funny---when I could understand what the fuck he was saying. His "black accent" was so heavy and thick, half his stand-up routine was unintelligible.

And as for the other dude------um, his major contributions were the theme song to some movie that 90% of you never saw and a cartoon voice. Seriously...how will we EVER go on without him????

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 10:57:35

  16. Why is everybody dying??? :(

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 11:52:31

  17. 10:57

Your a fucking terrible human being, these guys just died for christ's sake. show a little fucking respect

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 12:57:14

  18. Yeah, anonymous 10:57:35, how will we?

I grew up in the 70's and I can testify that Isaac Hayes did more than the theme from Shaft. That was his major claim to fame, but he wasn't one trick pony.

Your ignorance of the man's work and the hip/flip pop culture reference dropping shows your own ignorance. May Mr. Hayes Rest In Peace, far away from detractors who exist for nothing more than to fire negligible derisive missives from behind a wall of anonymity.

Tha should hold your ass for a day or two. Break out your dictionary. It's going to be a long night.

By Lord Shockedelica, on August 11, 2008 13:00:09

  19. 10:57 this man won a GRAMMY and an ACADEMY AWARD! He is about a million times more successful than your sorry, ignorant ass.

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 13:37:37

  20. 10:57...ummm his "BLACK ACCENT" is actually a SOUTHERN accent so you just insulted the lower southeastern states dumbass. Not to mention he had a habit of talking pretty fast, probably didn't help. Hey, don't you have a KKK meeting to go to or something?

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 13:54:37

  21. Bernie Mac's accent was not Southern. I've rarely had a difficult time understanding any Southern accent. It was 100% USDA negro.

As for you, 13:00, please don't get so high on yourself. You're not as smart as to think you are; nor are you as good a writer as you think you are. Again, other than his work in Shaft and South Park, I can guarantee you that 90% of the people here, including you, had to Google him to name his other contributions. But because he had that "cool negro" look, you jumped on the bandwagon and thought, "I really should know who he is, but sadly, I don't." Just admit it and we can be done here.

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 14:17:14

  22. BWHAHAHAHAHA...I'll bet half of the shmucks here think that Isaac Hayes was the bartender on the Loveboat.

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 14:19:37

  23. "Joking" about beating up kids and punching little kids in the throat is never funny, not even when Bernie Mac does it in his ignorant black nukka cadence. Bernie Mac wasn't a comic genius at all, but I agree that Dane cook should have gone first.

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 14:52:48

  24. Anonymous was abuuuuuused as a child. ROTFL

Isaac Hayes was one of the greatest American composers and arrangers still living. He could take any corny POS song and make it sound good. Listen to his version of Close to You.

Yes, corny ass "why do birds suddenly appear..." Close to You.

    By Jen, on August 11, 2008 15:00:38

  25. Isaac Hayes was an cult following Scientologist, but I do feel bad for him because he made great music and he's next to Grandmaster Flash in that last photo. If Isaac took care of his diabetes the right way instead of believing those murderers at the CO$ and their "vitamin therapy" he'd probably be alive and healthy today.

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 15:04:17

  26. Isaac Hayes was a scum bag. For years South Park lampooned ALL religions, but when Scientology took a little heat, Mr. Hayes' got his panties all bunched up and quit. **** Isaac Hayes.

Losing Bernie Mac sucks for America and his family, but being rid of Isaac Hayes is almost worth it.

  27. once again, two great people in hollywood die but brittney, lindsey, paris, nicole, and miley are still around.

    By anonymous, on August 11, 2008 21:09:49

  28. Rest in Peace "Dolla Bill"/"Jing-A-Ling".

And for those who don't know who the hell I'm talking about, allow me to semi-borrow a Kevin Spacey quote from "A Time To Kill":

Stop by your local Blockbuster and integrate your mind with "The Player's Club" and "Life" before 3 o'clock.
