John's jealousy in this area is extensively documented in numerous biographies, as well as filmed statements from Yoko, George Martin, etc.
Even though all songs written by either Lennon, McCartney or both are credited as Lennon/McCartney (due to a childhood agreement to do it this way, which legally still stands as unbreakable)..their entire body of work probably breaks down to about 50/50. I have no idea where you're getting this ridiculous John wrote 90% of Beatles songs thing. McCartney tended to be the more melodic writer (Yesterday), Lennon, the more pondering, abstract (Strawberry Fields). You can hear both sides on songs they truly wrote together (We Can Work It Out..Paul wrote most of it, John wrote the "life is very short..." section.)
