Um that skit was pretty stupid even if Samburg nailed Wahlburg. Mark is right though, the show is the pits now. I actually thought Wahlburg showed pretty good range in I Heart Huckabees.

And then from 1992-95, it sucked as well. The Will Ferrell years were decent, but I couldn't stand most of the cast. From 2002 until today, the show has sunk to new lows. In fact, I don't know anyone that actually watches the SNL suckfest. They've just watched the Palin clips on YouTube or elsewhere.

Andy Samberg is not really all that funny, and neither was Adam Sandler, but SNL pushed the fuck out of Adam Sandler and basically gave him a career. They'll do the same with this guy.

I thought his impression was great. The skit was so-so, but I wouldn't say that it wasn't funny. Actually, I think SNL is a mixed bag. It seems like there are much more misses than hits in terms of them bringing the funny. Like the episode recently with Michael Phelps was NOT funny at all. But, the episode with James Franco was better than decent and I definitely laughed at most of the skits. I think people just rag on SNL because it's become an institution that isn't as good as it used to be and probably never will be. Part of the charm and electricity, I think , about SNL in the early days was that the cast was so green (not ready for primetime players)...it's come to the point where the cast, writers and audience is too aware and knowing about SNL. But to be fair, I can't say that it isn't funny (just not as much as it used to be.)
Marky Mark is an annoying, 2 dimensional asshole who can only play annoying, 2 dimensional assholes. Samberg's impression was dead-on, and that's why it is funny. The truth hurts and Wahlberg is lucky he gets any work at all.
Hate on SNL and the premise of the skit all you want, but that Walberg impression was hiillarious. Maybe the show/actor/sketch genre isn't hitting on much, but wow, that impression was total lulz. The things said, the voice/accent, I lol'd even though yeah it was retarded, but that's kinda the point.

Most of SNL is no longer good. The Palin stuff is funny, but that's because Sarah Palin is a retard and she is constantly providing SNL with free material. I mean, they use her quotes pretty much word for word.
I didn't see the skit, but the fact that SNL used a Z-lister like him on their show does show a certain lack of creativity. That being said, Mark Wahlberg is a fucking tool. I love how everyonewho criticizes SNL says "Oh, they've asked me to do the show (X) times." Uh huh. And why didn't you ever do it? Read his comments about Brokeback Mountain. Yeah, according to him, he was up for the role of Ennis del Mar. Yeah, right!! He says he was asked to audition, read the script, and freaked out. But then his hairdresser (LOL) told him to do it. Yeah, as IF he was ever even offered the role! Then he said (this was all in Premiere Magazine) that the subject matter was too much for him. BUT, he called Ang Lee and said he wanted to do it. Oh my God, what a douche. Yeah, Mark, keep telling us about all the roles you were supposedly up for...in your dreams. Hopefully someday you will realize that even if you were MOMENTARILY considered for such a fantastic role, you didnt get it because..why? Oh yeah...you have NO TALENT. go back to dancing in your underwear, you talentless douche. (And yes, Seth, I know who mr Mike is. And you're right, he's spinning in his grave.)
