    And Maria does look hot...

  4. They're black, not African-American. Not all black people are from Africa. Also not all black people who are not from Africa live in America.

PS who cares what that slut says, everyone needs to stop getting offended by everything. She's a moron.

    By J the European-American, on November 11, 2008 13:34:55

  5. What's an African American? Funny, I thought we were all Americans until the Black Panthers decided black people should hyphenate themselves to spit on the white people. Isn't reverse racism lovely? Makes a lot of sense to whine about racism while being openly hostile to another race.

    By Lindsay isn't racist, she's just stupid, on November 11, 2008 13:43:08

  6. #4 I couldn't agree with you more!!! There's black and there's white, get over it!

  8. DID THAT ORANGE GIRL JUST SAY 'COLORED'???
Wow. That's quite something but I guess it goes along with that fancy GED education of hers. The best part is that she has absolutely no idea how retarded she is. Durrr.....voting good......Obama nice colored man......me deep thinker.....durrr.......

  9. The "CP" in NAACP stands for "Colored People" ... I'd rather use a term from that organization than the incorrect "African-American".

    JMO

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:00:15

  10. NAACP = National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:00:20

  11. I can not stand her, but the reference hardly makes her racist. Perhaps someone needs to tell your 'black friend' that not ALL coloreds are from Africa and those from Panama and other places detest being referred to as 'African American'. In fact to help end racism, maybe they should simply refer to themselves as 'Americans' ?

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:01:00

  12. She voted for him and helped make him president. She can call him whatever she wants to call him. She can call him purple lipped porch monkey if she wants to.

By Reverend Wright, on November 11, 2008 14:03:54

  13. You're not African American if you weren't born in Africa and moved to America. You're black and you're American. I'm not calling you anything else unless it's something that's more offensive to you if you don't shut the fuck up and stop telling me what I can't say.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:07:35

  14. OK, so it's cool to say "people of color," but "colored people" is NOT OK???

PC has reduced this country to a bunch of pussified ninnies, too afraid to "offend" someone.

    By Storm, on November 11, 2008 14:14:29

  15. NO SHE DIDN'T!

She did not call him Colored she said that Obama is our first colored president. Big difference in the phrasing of the word.

    Besides,

In the 1800s, as "nigger" began to acquire pejorative connotations, the term "colored" gained popularity as an alternative to "negro" and associated terms. For example, abolitionists in Boston, Massachusetts posted warnings to "Colored People of Boston and vicinity." The name of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People reflects the preference for this term at the time of the NAACP's founding in 1909

  16. Did she let a 6 year old put her make up on today?

    By x24, on November 11, 2008 14:29:45

  17. That's why people who voted for Obama are idiots. Voting for someone because he's black and to "make history" aren't good reasons for electing the next leader of our country. I'll choose experience over "change" any day. Goodbye to the bipartisan leadership, hello to democratic dictatorship.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:33:15

  18. Colored used to not be a derogatory term.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:37:16

  19. 'Colored' is considered an offensive term. I dare anyone here to stop a person of Afro-Caribbean ancestry on the street and use that word. You'll have many exciting trips to the endodontist in your future if you do because it is NOT cool. Nor, apparently, is using the terms 'darky', 'Oriental' or 'cripple'. Why? Because times change and preferences change.
The NAACP was originally known as the National Negro Committee. At the time of its name change, 'colored' was far preferable to the alternatives and more progressive than negro. (Ironically, the United Negro College Fund has retained their historic name.) The NAACP can use the term because it is their choice and a part of their historical struggle to improve the lives of the people represent.
Whether or not you personally think quibbling over labels is trivial doesn't matter. What matters is not willfully making derogatory remarks about people you have no right to offend.
Yeah, I know it's all PC and shit, but everyone needs to show just a wee bit of respect and sensitivity in referring to different genders, races, religions, etc. If someone says, 'look, I'd really rather be acknowledged as being Falulala,' be polite enough to agree. Even if you are laughing your ass off inside, do as your mother always said and be nice.

  20. I am so tired of these ridiculous racists accusations these days. Apparently everything is racist, as long as it comes from the whites.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:39:53

  21. Apparently everything is racist, as long as it comes from the whites.

THANK YOU! This is so true. I'm so sick of hearing people call everything "racist". They don't even know what the word means! There's a difference between racist and "racial".

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:47:28

  22. "I dare anyone here to stop a person of Afro-Caribbean ancestry on the street and use that word. You'll have many exciting trips to the endodontist in your future if you do..."

And if you do you'll have either one exciting trip to prison, or one exciting trip to the cemetary depending on who you fuck with. Remember "stick and stones"? It's just a word. Grow up.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:54:03

  23. "What matters is not willfully making derogatory remarks about people you have no right to offend."
    ------------------------------------------------
I have a right to offend anyone I want to offend. I might not even intend to offend people, but if they take offense. That's their problem. People need thicker skin. The liberal extremists have turned this country into politically correct pussies.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 14:58:15

I guess the NAACP is racist also. I mean look at what they do and what the name stands for.

  27. You have a black president and black first lady now, you have all the same rights as whites, you get special treatment whites don't get. Be happy and shut up and stop complaining. Nobody owes you anything else.

This is to racist crybaby black people, not the smart ones like Bill Cosby.

It's offensive to refer to them as "black"
It's offensive to refer to them as "negroes"
It's offensive to refer to them as "afro-american"
It's offensive to refer to them as "african-american"
It's offensive to refer to them as "people of color"

Where does the PC madness end?

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 15:27:49

  29. Hate crime legislation is RACIST. If a black person commits a crime against a white person he gets less jail time than a white person who commits the same exact crime against a black even if race was not the motive. Don't even get me started on the total absence of media coverage when a black person commits a racist hate crime against whites. The media just totally covers that shit up. Another fine example of black priveledge.

By White are not racist, it's a figment of their imagination, on November 11, 2008 15:30:00

  30. #19 when are minorities going to show the same respect to us??? White people bend over backwards to help minorities and all they do is spew racist hate at us. Respect is a two way street you know so maybe you should practice what you preach. I don't appreciate getting death stares for no apparent reason.

By Political correctness is nazism , on November 11, 2008 15:35:11

  31. The First Amendment protects hate speech and more importantly, Nowhere in the Bill of Rights does it state that ANY American has the right not to be offended. If you are offended by something, you must simply deal with it.

  35. But Obama isn't black. He's mulatto.

Unless you go by the old' "one drop" rule, which seems kinda condescending and racist-y. "Colored", while old-school (I'm looking at you NAACP), is more accurate than "black".

    By Markass, on November 11, 2008 18:27:29

  42. How is it that someone can safely say, "a person of color," but it's not okay to say "colored"??

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 21:44:31

  43. Obama isn't even black though, he's as much white as he is black, coz he's half of each.

What if a black guy born and raised in England moves to the USA and has to fill in a form, does he check "African-America" when neither apply to him. I'm white but was born and have lived me whole life in Africa, so if I move to America can I check the "African-American" box. It's silly, why can't they be black, just like whites aren't "European-Americans" etc, it complicates matters for no real purpose.

    By anonymous, on November 11, 2008 21:57:20

  44. #33, you don't know me so don't call me names. It only shows that you don't have the intellect to have a rational discussion. If you think it's AOK for blacks to be racially hostile to whites who have done nothing to them then you have shown yourself to be an ignorant bigoted person.

By Grow up and learn to be polite, on November 11, 2008 22:28:47

    How about Black Entertainment Television?

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 00:51:53

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 02:42:19

  47. #30, I agree the most racist people I have ever met personally in my life are black, there is this reverse rasicm where it is ok to slam white people and be racist against them. I don't get it.

    By lynnie, on November 12, 2008 02:47:39

  48. Assholes, African American means an American of African decent!!! Which majority of the African American population in this country is! What she said wasnt racist but really outdated! And to move pass racism means you cant ignore it but deal with it. If people had a problem with the statement she made why not discuss why it made African-Americans upset....Lets not do just call it reverse racism and cry about that

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 07:17:44

  49. All of you are complete idiots. "Colored" is ridiculous to say to anyone in this day and age, whether you're black, Native American, Puerto Rican, whatever. The point is, she could've said something else, or just said it's great that he's made history. By the way, for some of you who think that just because you've "helped" minorities to achieve a better life, and that the minorities should stop complaining about being in poverty, I'm sure you're NOT one of the ones who have "helped" to do anything except for complain about how black people are destitute because they don't try to achieve greatness. Well, Obama has proved everyone wrong. Also, to the person who said that people who voted for Obama just so that we could make history? You're a buffoon and a moron. I didn't vote for Obama just because I wanted a black president. I voted for him because Bush royally screwed up the economy, McCain contradicted everything he said, and if he were to win, we'd have to deal with an ignorant woman like Sarah Palin who wants to overturn the woman's right to choose and doesn't know the difference between a continent and a country. Oh an another thing, I really appreciate the "moderator" for keeping #15's comments as they so boastfully posted the "n" word...classy!

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 08:13:10

  50. #50- you'll notice in #15's comment the n word wasn't used to call someone by that name, it was making a historical reference. maybe not the classiest word, but it wasn't used in a negative manner. just a fact that it has been used in american history.

enough with the name calling, by the way. why can't a man just be a man and a woman just be a woman?

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 08:59:15

  51. er-considering she was asking everyone to vote Obama for the election i doubt shes racist.

    By Dannii, on November 12, 2008 09:13:28

  52. I agree, with #50 & #51. I read it as a historical reference, but none the less; no disrespect, but saying the "N" word is more appropriate than just spelling it out. We all know what it means. I'm taking a minorities class as we speak and to refer to a historical reference, you don't spell out that word because it's seen as derogatory, regardless of who you are. Using it appropriately is just saying the "N" word, though it shouldn't have been referenced at all. If people want to learn about history, take a class, read a book, but please stop showcasing ignorance. Is this what my generation of twenty-somethings has to look forward to? Sad, sad, sad.

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 09:27:10

  53. We can write the word "nigger" if we want to. I'm not 12 years old, so I don't have to say "n word" or "f word" or "s word" but I would never use the word "nigger" as a racist slur against anyone. Stop telling adults what words they can't say. When used in certain context like this conversation, you can write "nigger". If you look up "nigger" in the dictionary it does not say "n word".

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 09:34:13

  54. "Is this what my generation of twenty-somethings has to look forward to?"

Your generation is full of pussies and crybabies.

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 09:37:24

  55. #54 and #55 you're both right . . . I mean, we can all say it right? I'm an adult and I say shit like fuck, bitch, asshole . . . if you look it up in the dictionary, "nigger" means stupid. So I guess it's safe to assume . . . we're all niggers . . . right? You included? Why discriminate . . . oh and by the way, I'm apart of the twenty something generation just like #53 and I don't recall my birth certificate reading "Pussy Crybaby," dumbass . . . now excuse me while my white pussy goes to cry in a corner . . . by the way, morons, #53 didn't say it was a racist slur, they said it was derogatory . . . learn how to read before you try to start shit. And my guess, # 55, is that our generation is filled with empathetic individuals who so appreciate and love this country . . . bullshit. #55, I'm sure you meant no disrespect (if you can't tell, I'm dripping with sarcasm) but before you put someone else down, why don't you look at your own generation of idiots who have "ruled" the world . . . and look at us now, in a fledgling economy arguing over the word nigger...all of you need to grow the fuck up! enough said . . . who the hell started this stupid thread????

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 10:24:33

  56. blacks are always running from the negative connotations that follow hem, as their behavior causes people to dislike them, whatever they are called. Until they stop acting like they always have, they will always be running from whatever they are called. Its their behavior that makes you make a scrunched up face when referring to them. Then they don't want to be called that. Their white sympathizers (they dont come up with this shit themselves, as the seem to be fine with being called and calling each other - NIGGER) come up with these "new" names.

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 10:38:42

  59. "Colored???" Seriously?? How is it she is even old enough to know that word, much less use it? Why does the media even bother interviewing these young Hollywood morons? I guess because people like me simply can't resist the giggle.

  60. SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU PC LOSER!!!

    anyhoo,
In the 1800s, as "nigger" began to acquire pejorative connotations, the term "colored" gained popularity as an alternative to "negro" and associated terms. 61. 61, you gave me a serious case of deja vu. Knock it off, you're freaking me out.

After reading all of this I'm completely confused. I met a guy in Atlanta who proudly told me his father was the first coloured attorney in his firm. He actually said coloured, and I'm pretty sure he didn't mean it in a derogatory way. Coloured wouldn't be my personal choice in descriptive words, but whatever.

So what should I say when I tell this guy's story, then?

"Hey, I met this guy in Atlanta who told me his father was the first attorney in his firm who was not of European descent"

Sounds a little pretentious, doesn't it?

    By Vigilante, on November 12, 2008 11:48:09

  62. "coloured". Why why why are we screaming at each other about this term? I have a friend who is of middle eastern descent. She told me that in India, people refer to themselves as colored, spelled with a "k." "nigger" is another story. it just simply means stupid. it shouldn't be classified to a certain race, color, creed, or gender of people or whatever.

By Stop the Madness, on November 12, 2008 12:15:43

  63. I'm a minority myself, and all I have to say is that black/colored/nigger/negro/afro/african/african-american or whatever the PC term of the week is that they whine too much. About everything.

Seriously, get over yourselves and stop the QQ. They'd get ahead more if the whined and complained less, and spent more time studying or doing homework.

    By anonymous, on November 12, 2008 14:39:32

  75. Hey Anonymous,

The "Colored" in NAACP was there 100 years ago...it was a much different time then in the use of the word. As it stands now, it remains a part of the name as a reminder of the past because as trite as it sounds, those that forget their past will repeat it....as Little Miss Crackwhore has shown.

I'm black. i hate that term african american. if you want to call out my heritage then I'm Jamaican, or you can call me that Fiiiiiine dark-skinned lady...but I hate this labelling BS. it's so annoying and only perpetuates racism. I'm Jamaican, you're American - regardless of colour...I must have missed the memo when I moved to this country about PC...that's just another way for people to bitch and moan about trivialities....I don't see anything wrong with the word coloured either...i will admit i don't like the "n" word because it's usually used with venom...but, like i said...fiiine dark skinned lady will do. LOL.
