  1. That blows all sorts of fucking lame. The Dark Knight, by its own merit, was a brilliant movie, worth of atleast a nomination.

By Phil says huh?, on January 22, 2009 04:56:51

  2. The Dark Knight and The Wrestler did get mentions in the top six categories actually. :/

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 05:03:16

  3. #2. - Not for Best Picture, dumbass.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 05:06:51

  4. I'm a big movie/film buff and the fact that Milk made it for best picture just shows how rigged this shit is. I thought Milk was good, but Doubt was by far better and Frost Nixon (a film quite similar to Milk in cinematography and aesthetic feel) had far better acting. Fuck Sean Penn and those fucking critics who ache for his milk and god forbid an action film ever makes the nomination for best picture. FUCK. I hate Hollywood. and I'm pretty sure #2 is probably one of those same fucks working for 'em cuz he's a goddamned idiot. FUCK! -rant complete.

  5. How can anybody support this industry. They give themselves awards for playing make believe. You have less than one percent of all people calling themselves actors making more than minimum wage. They work crews a minimun of 12 hours a day for 2 months so that 3 actors can do 4 projects a year and make millions. Most of witch never took an acting class, they simply fucked there way into the business or was born into it. Than those people who worked 2 months collect OUR money called unemployment. Wonder why the state/country is broke? Than they fight for any bit of pub they can get about helping people, poor people mostly from other countrys. To support this industry, to go to one movie shows how stupid the public is. Further, Heath Ledger was a product of this society where everyone does LOTS of drugs and nobody tells on each other. Funny how we find out, but it never comes from ANY of them. The more of them that OD the better.
And you care who they give the awards too? Wow, its like going to school without a teacher, than giving yourself a test and getting an A but you never opened a book and didnt learn anything.
GCS never went or accepted any "award" because he thought the notion of awards for what he did was rediculas. He was right.

    By George C. Scott, on January 22, 2009 05:29:01

  6. GCS?

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 05:53:56

  7. I don't see Gran Torino anywhere on the noms list. Shame.

    By Run-DMS, on January 22, 2009 06:12:10

  8. gran torino left out and clint for actor too. I do not get the slubdog love. I watched it barely staying awake and saw torino twice.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 06:18:43

  9. Not to cloud the issue with facts. Checking the rules for the Academy Awards show that to be considered for that year's Oscars, a film must be released by midnight on January 1st of that calender year. As Gran Torino shows a release date of 9 Jan 09, it will not be eligible for THIS years Oscars.

Just my 2 cents (Pre tax)

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 06:47:44

  10. "And you care who they give the awards too? Wow, its like going to school without a teacher, than giving yourself a test and getting an A but you never opened a book and didnt learn anything."

Interesting observation, #5. Celebrities are given far too much leeway, but I guess we're the ones to blame for going to their movies and buying their music. Obama's inauguration and the celebration that followed is a prime example of celebrity overkill - everyone who is even remotely famous is given an invitation and the rest of us - the people who make make up 99% of this country - have to sit at home and watch it on TV. And celebrities are important, why? Because they made some shitty movie, recorded some music or are part of a legacy.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 06:50:04

  11. @9: Gran Torino was released in December (limited), so it was eligible for Oscars. You're confused by the date for *wide* release.

    By Run-DMS, on January 22, 2009 07:46:57

  12. #6...think he means George C. Scott???

Strange question to ask but who is the chick in the pics of Heath???? She is breathtaking and I'm a girl...yikes.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 07:50:42

  13. of course Saint Angelina gets nominated.

    By Jen's Army, on January 22, 2009 07:53:02

  14. The whole event will be kissing Brad Pitt and Saint Angelina's asses anyway. I knew those two would be nominated. Isn't it perfect that they both got nominated together!!! I am so excited. Who cares if her performance was wooden. She is Angelina. Of course she deserved a nomination for playing Mariane Pearl last year in A Mighty Heart after all she plays heroic woman and she is a Saint herself who does such great charity work (haven't heard much on that front lately) and is mother to the world.....

    By Jen's Army, on January 22, 2009 08:00:49

  15. #12 I'm pretty sure it's a model called Lily Cole. She normally looks better than that. If it is her.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 08:29:36

  16. #1 BEST PICTURE: The Dark Knight
    #2 BEST DIRECTOR: Danny Boyle
    #3 BEST ACTOR: Mickey Rourke
    #4 BEST ACTRESS: Anne Hathaway
#5 BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Heath Ledger
#6 BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Marisa Tomei

they are the ones that are going to wing the Oscar

By And the Oscar goes to, on January 22, 2009 08:41:29

  17. Rest in peace, Heath. You will never be forgotten!

Hope he wins Best Supporting Actor! That sucks that TDK wasn't nominated for Best Picture.

    By Albatross, on January 22, 2009 08:47:09

  18. First of all "Frost/Nixon" was by far the best movie of the year.

Second, "Dark Knight" is WAY overrated. Ten year from now everything aside from Heath Ledger's scenes will seem really boring. "Iron Man" was MUCH better.

    By thebig28, on January 22, 2009 09:40:34

  19. Damn, that bitch with Heath Ledger looks like Stewie Griffin in drag.

    By Quagmire's Sex Slave, on January 22, 2009 10:19:20

  20. If Marisa Tomei wins another Oscar, we'll know for sure she'll blow anybody (even Vincent Gallo) to get work. I wish someone had told me I'd become rich and famous if I could do a convincing Queens accent for 90 minutes straight, even if I did look like a tired horse.

By Little Miss Sunshine, on January 22, 2009 10:34:01

  21. And Hollywood wonders why more and more people are finding it irrelevant to other forms of media delivery?! The Court Jesters do not run the kingdom...except in Hollywood. I completely agree with most of the comments posted here. The REAL heroes we should be worshiping are those who make the world safer, save lives, and make a difference in their communities, without fanfare or awards, day in and day out.

Hollywood is withering and dying and it's easy to see why.

    By Roopstar, on January 22, 2009 11:49:03

  22. The Academy voters NEVER get it right. I'm going on a rampage like the Joker did in the movie :D

    By MPT, on January 22, 2009 12:18:42

  23. Sure, Heath Ledger did a good job in the Supporting Actor category, but really he should win for Best (de)Composer.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 12:28:17

  24. #16, Dark Knight isn't even nominated. What do you know that the rest of us don't? Did Heath Ledger blow Marisa Tomei before he died?

By Little Miss Sunshine, on January 22, 2009 12:43:08

  25. I have seen any of the films but did read "The Reader" which is a great novel. I'll have to see The Wrestler but I'm not expecting much from these movies.

    By spikewebbe, on January 22, 2009 12:51:55

  26. Heath Ledger was overrated in that movie, plus I can't stand the guy. Why are we feeling bad for a person who killed the father of his own kids? Have fun watching from the seventh circle, Heath!

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 16:12:58

  27. Anne Hathaway is a fucking hack. Any award she wins is for her performance on her knees.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 19:21:23

  28. As Heath Ledger's corpose rots in the ground, it's pretty cool that he's still remembered. I'm grateful for the fact that he proved me that fame and money don't buy happiness. Heath Ledger - you died for something you stupid jackass.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 19:52:10

  29. #16, Dark Knight isn't even nominated. What do you know that the rest of us don't? Did Heath Ledger blow Marisa Tomei before he died?

wow aren't you a CUNT now go back to sucking pigs dick

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 20:57:39

  30. #19, HA!! When I first saw her I thought she was interesting-looking, then I went back and all I could see was Stewie.

And #26, I think it was pretty much determined (though impossible to prove) that his death was an accident. Obviously I don't know, and I'm not in love with the guy or anything, but I want to give people the benefit of the doubt in this situation.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 22:12:21

  31. gran torino and the dark knight are good movies but not even close to oscar worthy

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 22:36:23

  32. way to go rd jr.
    the man is brilliant.

too bad hes up against ledger.

    By anonymous, on January 22, 2009 23:37:05

  33. I guess i am in the miority, but I really was not impressed with heath's performance as the joker, I thought he talked just like stuat smiley from saterday night live, the guy who looked in the mirror and said "i like myself", heath copied that.
what a lose to not have a trust fund for his daughter too, just a loser druggie.
don't get all the he was so wonderful, he def doesn't deserve an award just cause he was an idiot and overdosed.

    By anonymous, on January 23, 2009 01:05:24

  34. maybe they thought.. well rourke will never get any better or do any better so lets try to help him out for once!

    By anonymous, on January 23, 2009 02:36:05

  35. Yes G.C.S. is George C Scott.... Ok, Ledger could have been or not been the best, Its nothing but opinion or what you like! Lets face it, the OSCARS will hardly ever will put this type of movie(super hero) up for anything because movies based on special effects don't get nominated for the same content as do more "serious projects."

By George C. Scott aka Markeeoo, on January 23, 2009 03:43:41

  36. That's the nature of it and always has been. Its not that your favorite is not more entertaining. Ledger will win because he is dead which takes out all credibility because of the way he died. The photos posted look like some drugged up scumbag, but than that is what is rewarded in this industry. WHY was the investigation halted into his death? Because the names, and I mean the director, producer and ALL the stars were doing drugs with this guy and where did the drugs come from? The same doctors and dealers that supply ALL of them. The can of worms it opens includes every name in entertainment from the bottom to the top.

By George C. Scott aka Markeeoo, on January 23, 2009 03:44:12

  37. Further the friends of these people are top politicians, lawyers and entertainment moguls and law enforcement officers answer to these people. You wonder how people get the money to run for office. You wonder why people like Winna Ryder can have a purse full of pharmaceuticals and be caught on film in 3 different stores stealing and get off with a clean record! When she OD's you will be surprised? You don't think Johnny Depp and her and all their friends as one very small example snorted coke nightly? How do these poor role models get project after project? Lindsey Lohan would be working today if production company's could get insurance for her.
No I won't be watching the Oscars because it's a display of society at its worst, full of people who because they get away with so much, think they are really important so they tell us who to vote for while standing on a red carpet. They wear millions in jewels while you scrape pot of the coffee table for one last joint and wish you could be as cool as them. Most are from money and have no idea what its like to be you. Further on movie and TV sets people are told not even to say hi to any of them. AND THIS is what you worship? I think allot of you have had it like me. I have not been to or rented a movie in 6 years. Can't and won't give them a penny. Do they deserve what they have?? #21 and I and some of the others say NO!

    By markeeoo, on January 23, 2009 03:44:31

  38. #16, Dark Knight isn't even nominated. What do you know that the rest of us don't? Did Heath Ledger blow Marisa Tomei before he died?

Do you always react this way to being wrong, #16? It's not the end of the world, being wrong, especially about something this trifling. But being a defensive, insecure jackass who can't laugh at himself isn't so great.

Oh, wait--You were defending Heath Ledger and Marisa Tomei! Of course! And you're not even #16! You're a completely different anonymous jackass, who loves Heath Ledger and Marisa Tomei SO MUCH that you went wild with rage here at IDLYITW, unable to control your fury. That makes a lot more sense.

By Little Miss Sunshine, on January 23, 2009 09:39:24

  39. The porn awards have more intelligent guests.

    By anonymous, on January 23, 2009 13:05:36

  40. Little Miss Sunshine don't you have a boyfriend or someone ELSE you can go irritate?

    By anonymous, on January 23, 2009 18:41:21

  41. you guys are nuts like a comic book movie should be best pic of the year just cause heath died, big deal, one less useless drug addicted absent father. He should have loved his daughter more than drugs and pussy that did not belong to his daughter's mommy
Fuck you heath, you are a lose scumbag in my eye!

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2009 03:56:13

  42. Robert Downey Jr should win for Tropic Thunder, but he won't because Ledger is dead. Too bad really, RDJ deserves it.

By Mike Skoop, on January 25, 2009 09:47:57

  43. I can see why people are upset over, 'The Dark Knight' not getting a nomination, but it probably has a lot to do with 'Batman Begins' being a far better film, and with that missing out on a nomination, what makes 'The Dark Knight' worthy? Ledger's performance was great, but it's really the only thing that stands out above anything from the fantastic first film.
