21. Exactly #14. Posters here (ahem, #4, #12, etc) suggesting people should adopt from the US, well, the US system is VERY fucked up. There are serious boundary issues and laws in place protecting the rights of the bio family and unless you want a very extended family down the line, DON'T adopt from the US.
    
    Rich or not, why would anyone want to adopt from the US when you will possibly be subjected down the line to anyone and everyone from the family of the child you've adopted? I know a couple of families who have now had to deal with the person who initially put the child up for adoption (because bio mom changed her mind and now wants contact with her child) and her entire extended family. The situation that Madonna dealt with with David Banda having a biological father is NOTHING compared to what you can be subjected to if you adopt from the US.

    That's why a chinese baby is such a status symbol among the rich.
    People with money also don't want to adopt Americans because there's the perception that only stupid druggie trash would give up their own children in america, and people I know don't want to be responsible for the baby's shitty genes.
    At least if the kid comes from somewhere tragic in the third world you can assume famine or war or something as a legitimate reason that they're family can't raise them, rather than 'hillbilly trash meth-addiction'.
