The Stones haven't done a single with any of the idiots you mentioned and they are one of the biggest touring band around so why would you expect less of Jimi? Get real.
Hey Todd you mother fucker, you just crossed the line. Only a little fag would say he would be better off dead. FUCK YOU, I get my hands around your neck you will be dead and than we all will be better off. again, FUCK YOU !! Anna You're glad he was murdered? What the fuck is wrong with you?
thank you todd for the john mayer comment. i almost pass out anytime anyone tries to tell me what "an amazing guitarist john mayer is". john mayer looks kind of like frankenstein and has 1/8th of the talent hendrix, stevie ray vaughn, and other guitar gods had.
I doubt that if Jimi were alive today he'd have to collaborate with any of those artists to 'stay relevant'. His music to this day would speak for itself as younger generations are introduced to his work. I certainly wasn't alive when he was around but lucky for me that I had parents who used to play me his records. And I agree with #6, The Rollingstones have never sold out and they're still awesome.
Reality, settle down. No one is glad he was possibly murdered. The point I believe Todd was making and I was agreeing to was that someone of Hendrix's calibur of musical genius often peaks and then goes downhill throughout their career, and it sucks to see it. I understand where the comments that I agreed to could be seen as sick and obviously misunderstood, but it only comes from loving this man's music so much and after seeing so many great artists sell out or go on to produce absolute shit, happy that didn't ever happen to him. If (and this whole story is still just an "if", keep in mind) he was murdered, it's horrible, but it was almost 40 years ago and the man is dead himself so what could be done? Maybe it's selfish to say something like that but no one likes to see their heros become mortal, you know? That's about the best I can do to explain where I'm coming from.
Wow, calm down Reality, making physical threats online is beyond lame. And it is way better to burn out then fade away, or in this case die a legend then having your music most likely turn into something shitty.
Sorry. Gotta call BULLSHIT on this story. The actual evidence points to Jimi Hendrix dying of a drug overdose, not "drowning in wine". His manager HAD ripped him off for tons of money over the years (Jimi complained over the years that his manager had taken suitcases full of money out of the country every month), but Jimi dead calls for an accounting of his estate, and that puts his manager front & center of an investigation, which I'm sure he was happy to avoid.
I doubt this is completely true. This @$$hole is trying to make money off of Jimi's death almost 40 yrs later, so he is no better than Michael Jeffrey. So I guess he is worth more to 'Tappy' dead than he was alive too?
It sounds like the idiot has been sitting around for almost 4 decades scratching his nuts trying to figure out how to cash in on Jimi Hendricks death himself. But failed to remember one important detail. If you with hold information about a murder, it is a crime, and YOU will go to jail... so no matter how much he profits, he will be too busy takin' it up the ass in prison to enjoy his profit. Although 'Tappy' would make a lovely name in a federal 'pound me in the ass' prison wouldnt it? Big Bubba will love him!
This is the most arrogant, rockist thing i've ever read. the story about the murder is interesting but what the fuck does John Mayer have to do with this? Since he clearly isn't from the 1960s and did not die a tragic death, that MUST mean that his music has no merit whatsoever... you go ahead and believe that you rockist prick.
The comment below is posted on behalf of James 'Tappy' Wright, author of Rock Roadie. These are his words. Please check with Borkowski PR if you require confirmation.
"I knew what Mike Jeffrey had done and I kept quiet for all this time because I was terrified. It wasn’t just me and him involved – the Mafia were part of this and Mike owed them money. He was paying out $30,000 a month to pay back the money he’d borrowed – I know this because I drove Bob Levine out to New Jersey to borrow it for him. I was one of his closest employees. If I hadn’t kept quiet, you’d have been reading about me in the obituaries. All this happened in 1973, not 1971 as has been reported, just months before Mike died in a plane crash.
"This is not a publicity stunt – I waited to tell the truth because I was scared and there were people still alive who were involved. Some of them could still be alive today. I started to write the book ten years ago because Rod Weinberg told me I had a moral obligation to get the truth out there – he was right, but it would have been suicide not to wait. After talking to Rod I realised that it was my duty to set the record straight. That’s why I started writing the book ten years ago.
"Mike Jeffrey had Jimi killed because he needed the money. Jimi’s girlfriend Devon tried to take him away from Mike and she died – I believe she was thrown off the roof of the Chelsea Hotel. I don’t think she just fell. If I’d said anything before now, that could have been me.
"This is not about some broke roadie cashing in on a story. I’m comfortably off. It’s about a moral obligation. Of course I’d like the book to sell, but it’s not about the money. It’s about getting the truth out there. I was Mike Jeffrey’s longest serving employee, right from before The Animals were even called that – there’s no story about Hendrix without the Animals. What happened to Jimi Hendrix is not the only story in the book, but it was important to tell it.
"I remember all these things happening. I started writing the books ten years ago and I have thought long and hard about getting every memory down. I never took drugs during the 60s – except once, when Eric Burdon spiked me with acid. Girls, yes I slept with a lot of girls. But I never deliberately took drugs. So my memory is damned good and what gaps there were I filled in by talking to all the people who were involved and thinking back on what happened. You look at all the Hendrix books that have come out in the last 40 years and it’s all the same regurgitated shit. I knew the right people to ask and with their help I have remembered most of it.
"I’ve also been asked to think about the past a lot since those days. The papers in the North East come to me regularly for anecdotes when people like Elvis and Ike Turner die – all the people I met and worked with. I have kept the memories alive over the years.
"Noel Redding said publicly that “Jimi’s death was very kind to Mike Jeffrey” – and he certainly came into a lot of money after Jimi’s death. He paid off his back taxes, his debts, gave Al Hendrix $250,000 for Jimi’s share of the Electric Lady studios in New York, bought himself a house in Woodstock, invested a fortune in clubs in Majorca. Where did this come from?"

Mentioning Mayer in the same post as Hendrix is sacreligious.
By anonymous, on June 3, 2009 14:16:52
It's bullshit that has been made up to sell a book and since the manager guy is dead there's no one else to say "that's crap!"
Half an hour of CSI would teach you that you can't get someone who is that passed out to swallow pills and booze.
