If MJ really never did those things to children, then that's another tragedy compounded onto the other tragedies of his life. Oh good lord, he was not a great musician. He was in a decent group when he was a kid and had a handle of good tunes on his first couple of solo albums, but he got shit with Thriller. Yes, the one that the whole fucking world inexplicably loves. He was a legend, yes, but being a legend does not make one a musical genius. Madonna's a fucking legend too, and her music is only slightly less shitty than his. There are plenty of people out there who are far better singers, better dancers, better musicians and songwriters (did he even play an instrument or write music?), far better people in general, some of them just as famous as him who will NEVER have this level of insanity surrounding their death.

I'm not going to defend MJ. God only knows what he did or didn't do. But the world is a screwed up place and Hollywood is just that much more perverse. We're all so judgmental sometimes because we live average lives and not in the circus that is Hollywood. As a result we're probably more clear-headed and can easily distinguish between right and wrong but I can only imagine the hot mess that I would be if lived the life that he did. But like I said, no defense.
Still the flashes of news footage about the cases that I may have seen when I was a kid are severely overshadowed by my memories of singing his songs as a kid, dancing to them as a teen and reminiscing with them as an adult. So, I'm sad MJ died and that I'll never see him in concert :(. Everything else, is not my job to judge.

I will admit as a kid I enjoyed a few of his songs, but then I grew up... his music grew tired, and his new stuff sucked. I thought he was far too overhyped for talent he never really had.

I never thought he did it - I always thought he was just weird enough to think it was okay to have these oddball, intimate, but NONSEXUAL friendships with children. And I think people took advantage of him for that exact reason.
I don't think you can compare this to a guy next door that has been accused of molesting a child, because in that instance, the financial incentive does not exist. The guy next door to you probably can't settle for millions of dollars.
The truth is, none of you know whether he did or didn't do it, and to be so insensitive and judgmental in the wake of his death when you don't know what actually happened is pretty cruel.

Although I usually think this Todd dude is a racist piece of shit, this post is right on the money, man. If MJ really never did those things to children, then that's another tragedy compounded onto the other tragedies of his life. But more than likely, he was a pedophile, and the fact that he's been allowed to get away with it over and over again has always sickened me. No doubt the man had talent in spades, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy some of his biggest hits (everyone did-don't lie!, and he was also one of the best, if not the best performer, in the history of music, with his dancing and theatrics. But the likely possibility that he preyed on children should have trumped all that, hands down. The jury that acquitted him in his last child molestation trial even said that they were presented with overwhelming evidence that Michael behaved inappropriately with children, and they believed that he in all likelihood was a pedophile, but they just couldn't find him guilty in the particular case brought forward by that particular child against Michael, only because the mother really did seem shady and out for money. In any case, the best parts of Michael was everything pre-1993. After that, he was a shell of the "legend" he used to be.

As a little boy, MJ was a remarkable talent, backed by Motown's best writers, arrangers, and producers.
As a man, he was still a great dancer but only a middling singer. His last moment of true glory was the release of Thriller decades ago, and if you listen to the album again, there are really only two or three great tunes.
