  1. There is nothing to be ashamed with about autism. If Travolta's "church" made him and his wife feel ashamed of Jett's condition, then I hope they see the light and leave.

  2. Very nice post, Todd.

    By Theo, on September 24, 2009 05:08:18

  3. Since autisim is a developmental disorder and deals with psychology, I would guess that is why Scientology wants to pretend it isn't real. I hate that a child died and that his family is being dragged through the ringer, but maybe this will shed some light on how damaging Scientology is and get people to wake up and leave the cult.

    Classy post, Todd. Really.

  4. todd, very nice post. compassion right where it was needed. you have to wonder how they can still stand behind that religion after his son's death.

  7. So...what has to happen for him to admit he's gay?

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 05:58:48

  8. Great post. I also have a child with autism and I couldn't agree with you more.

  11. Wow Todd, using your powers for good instead of evil really works for you!!! Lot of good posts mixed in with all the boobs and boobs and snark and boobs and MeganFoxMeganFoxMeganFoxMeganFoxMeganFoxMeganFox and and snark and boobs lately. This one is the best. Thanks, I think you may have taught some of your fanpeoples something about compassion today. We need more of these posts!!! Next thing you know, you'll be joining a monastery and working for social justice and marching in Washington against the war, or something. And telling all of us that boob-watching is sexist and women should be appreciated for more than just their bodies and that Kelly Clarkson is a talented and beautiful woman from the inside out. And you'll change the name of the site to I Like and Respect You Just the Way You Are.com. Right? Right???

  12. I guess the next questions are:

    1) Will Travolta publicly leave the "church"?

    2) If so, will the "church" leak a Travolta gay
    sex tape?

I feel bad for Travolta too Todd, it's messed up.

    By duder, on September 24, 2009 06:32:35

  13. John Travolta lied before. Why should we believe him now?

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 06:40:04

  14. nicely sad, todd.

    By Lara, on September 24, 2009 06:51:53

  15. It's good to see you be positive in your content, Todd. John travolta aside, this is a perfect example of the sickness of scientology. When a belief prevents you from seeking treatment for your child, that belief is inherently wrong. Rot in hell, l ron hubbard...

  16. Well said Todd. Keep up the good work.

  18. What did he lie about? Not admitting his son's illness?

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 07:06:16

  19. I have a son who has Autism as well as Traumatic Brain Injury..It happened in utero or birth. Nobody is sure. Your post was really good.

    P.S. MeganFox!!!!

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 07:48:25

  23. Hang Travolta.....
    Hang him alongside Jenny McCarthy.

I TOO have a close friend with an autistic child.

Travolta denies medical science for his autistic son, and McCarthy blames medical science for hers.
These people aren't scientists or medical professionals.

If Travolta was your neighbour you'd give him dirty glances and whisper of his negligent parenting.

  27. Seriously - great post. I was expecting to have to grit through my teeth on what you might have to say. - potshots are sometimes too easy. I appreciate you taking the high road on this one. Grief is probably the toughest pill to swallow.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 08:28:53

  28. I gotta agree with these people, great post I like your humanity.

Now go flame the rest of those freaks ;)

    By Mark, on September 24, 2009 08:53:12

  29. #18...he lied about the autism, and he continues to lie about his sexual orientation. When will the lies stop??

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 08:57:01

  30. I agree with the 15th post here. How many millions has Travolta given to this "church" of bullies and blackmailers? On top of that now he's handed over his son. How much longer will he let them control him and his family? The guy's gotta strap on his balls and say "I'm done." The hell with the gay pics or tapes or whatever it is they are holding over him. Travolta was an Italian Catholic before he got seduced by these lunatics. Say what you want about Catholicism, but they do not punish you for utilizing western medicine.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 09:05:37

  31. Good postTodd.I can add anything else. You said it best about Autism,Poor Jett,Kelly and John too with that Scientology mind control sciene fiction bs.

By Thanks Todd, on September 24, 2009 09:07:12

  32. Great post Todd. My family also deals with autism. It can be challenging and frustrating, and the general public don't have a great enough understanding of what it is like to live with, for both the person who has it, and their family. Early intervention and education is the key to giving these kids the best chance at life. Vitamins and diet are good for a healthy lifestyle but don't do shit to treat the autism itself...it's work and constant therapy, sometimes even medication if extreme anxiety is an issue.
    Fuck you Hubbard.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 09:46:53

  33. Man I wish I had 3 penises so I could plug every hole in Kelly Preston's body!

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 10:29:50

  34. You guys are missing the point.. his kid didn't die of autism, he died of a seizure disorder and the two aren't linked. I wonder what scientology's stand is on seizures??

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 11:18:14

  35. As much as I hate to be an insensitive prick here, it's just an autistic kid. An autistic kid. They make a lot of those. Get a new one . . . I don't understand this level of emotional response when you can replace something you lost by replying to an ad on Craigslist.

By Cubs Fan, on September 24, 2009 12:49:20

  36. I'd love to call you a weepy vagina again, but that was actually an awesome post, Todd. Also, true!

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 13:08:24

  37. Thank you for a sincere post on an important issue for a family that often deserves eyerolling and easy jokes. Appreciated!

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 13:13:34

  38. I don';t have children but still I cannot imagine the pain of seeing your child die. My heart goes out to this family and ALL familes who have children of speical needs. You give so much and ask for so little. God bless your generous hearts.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 14:05:46

  39. Todd - you're amazing.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 14:37:08

  40. Awesome, mensch of a post, Todd. Religions that make their members substitute superstitious horseshit for modern medical science should be outlawed. Enough's enough.

    @ #35 oh whatever.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 16:39:51

  41. This is not the first time you've shown a rather sizeable heart underneath your layers of snarky evil. *sniff*
Now go talk about Lady(?) Gaga and Jessica Biel's ass somemore. And make fun of that moron at #35 who's comparing a child to a Pomeranian, or whatever it is Jessica Simpson had carried off by a coyote.

    By anonymous, on September 24, 2009 16:57:08

  42. What an incredible post Todd. I am rather impressed. However, I have always believed that you have a heart. After all, you didn't have anything negative to say about Patrick Swayze. Well said sir.

    By Angela, on September 24, 2009 17:24:16

  43. Bravo Sir !
    Now Post Kelly's Tits ......:0

  44. very nice words

    By anonymous, on September 25, 2009 00:10:06

  45. To the #34 post people suffering from autism often have seizures, so he's son did in fact die from untreated Autism,he did admit that they took him off anti- seizure medications, John Travolta and Kelly Preston will burn in hell for this. They're main concern should have been their child and not a nutty cult.

    By anonymous, on September 25, 2009 01:40:30

  46. Why feel bad for Travolta, Todd?
It's because of his direct negligence of his son's medical needs that the boy is dead. Personally, I think Travolta deserved the ramrod on this one (though he'd probably like that, so...).

    By anonymous, on September 25, 2009 01:58:54

  47. I am one of the asshats usually saying sometimes your posts are a bit too harsh, but in this case, I have to say the opposite. Travolta did say his son had autism--which he then describes as a seizure disorder. It's not a siezure disorder. Several posters here know someone with autism, as do I. I would not describe my nephew's condition as a siezure disorder. TRavolta was testifying. He had to offer some explanation as to why Jett had nurses to begin with.

I think John is still refusing to accept that he was wrong to deny Jett's need for pyschological help and medication that could have limited the frequency of siezures and SAVED his life. and made his life much happier.

I feel sorry for Travolta or any parent that loses a child. I truly can't imagine. But I don't think for a second that he has accepted the truth or left scientology behind. I feel no differnt about him than I did when I heard his son had passed.

  48. Is your best friend jim carrey?

    By anonymous, on September 25, 2009 09:07:18

  49. I usually come here to laugh a little bit, because I know how your writing is good, but I didn't see this one coming. This was the nicest thing I've read in a long time on something serious, so, congrats man.

    By flavio, on September 25, 2009 09:41:57

  50. What #47 said, I'll second. Todd, it's nice to see you show compassion and decency. Unfortunately, while I'm not going to go as far and say it's wasted on Travolta--he did, after all, lose a kid--until he acknowledges his own role in this, and leaves the institution that seems to have more of his loyalty than his own family, my sympathy for him is tepid at best.

Still, even though we disagree on this one, I'll second what #40 said. You may be a mensch after all. Now go and make fun of Jessica Simpson, or I'm going to start thinking you've seen some bad MRI's or something.

    By anonymous, on September 25, 2009 11:26:30

  51. Todd, I knew you had it in you. Well done mate.

    By Lolablue, on September 26, 2009 06:10:30

  52. I was actually thinking about this while surrounded by the 'bloids at the checkstand yestderday, and while I usually could give two shits about celebutards, I actually was feeling quite sorry for John and Kelly and their little girl, and found myself hoping that this would be the impetus for them to finally turn on the Scienfreaks and expose them for the worthless, piece of shit cult they are. Travolta, while perhaps totally stupid and gullible, has always struck me as a deep-down decent human being. I'm with the op's who said "Grow some balls, John." Do it in memory of Jett and all those other kids whose lives have been and will be ruined by those bastards.

    By anonymous, on September 26, 2009 08:03:57

  53. I love your snark, but as the mother of a child with autism I adored this post. Although I still think Travolta and Preston are fucking idiots for hiding and denying their son instead of treating him.

    By anonymous, on September 26, 2009 13:53:26

  54. I would like to point out the Christianity does as much damage to People as does Scientology. So before you all get back on your high horses stop and judge your own religions as you do Scientology.

By Jeff little, on September 26, 2009 16:17:34

  55. You know, for as long as I've been reading yer site, I can tell a sincere post from a sarcastic one. There are moments when one truly realizes the stupidity they allow themselves involved in, I hope Travolta has done so.

    By Patrick, on September 26, 2009 17:20:54

  56. It's reasons like this that I love this site so much. The snark if hilarious but in addition this site has a lot of heart. The comments on this story are very well thought out and very sincere.
