If he really thinks that eight kids can live off $1000 for even a month, it proves that he had nothing to do with raising them in the first place.

What he should is the doormat,nice guy routine and be with his kids.Two years from now Kate will be spending a few days a month with the kids and they'll be in boarding school.
Well if taking all the money that is used to feed your kids and pay the bills doesn't scream dad of the year nothing will. This guy went from poor abused husband to selfish prick in no time.

I think if you have a husband who acts like a two year old, you will start treating him like one. You have to earn respect. In the early days of the show I noticed that Jon seemed disinterested in the kids and had to be bullied into helping care for them. I don't think he ever wanted to have more children after the birth of the twins and that he resented Kate for wanting more fertility treatment - which resulted in having six more babies. I also think that Kate is a perfectionist and is more concerned with how things appear than how they actually are. In other words, she believes it is more important to spend time scrubbing a baseboard than playing with her kids. But the point is that she does believe she is doing the right thing for her kids.
Also, TLC did not pay the Gosselins to have kids. They did a single episode about them and the public response was so great that they expanded the show into a series. Part of the public interest was generated by the dynamics between Jon and Kate (in other words, the tension), so obviously this would be an angle the producers would play up.
The family from 20 Kids and Counting or whatever number they're up to now are the ones who are being lauded, encouraged, and paid to continue pumping out kids. They really bother me. That mom said on one of the shows that her method for raising that many kids was to take care of the newborn infant for one year and then pass the routine care of the baby onto a sibling, who would be his/her "buddy." By that time, of course, she would be popping out another one. How is this good parenting? Yet the world continues to show them support and pretend that this is normal and healthy.
