It disturbs me that anyone would sign the petition to free him. Makes me wonder about their psyche and what they could possibly be thinking is okay about this. Would he only deserve the punishment if he killed her? Is that what it would have taken for these people to see what a monster he is? For what it's worth, this is my take on it.
I'm in my 40's. Let's just say I was somehow in the company of a 13 year old girl and I was doing drugs. She begs me for some drugs and I give them to her. Then she strips nude, teases me and begs me to have sex with her...(not saying that's what happened)...
Even under that situation, if I have sex with her it is a crime and I would/could/should go to prison. An adult is supposed to be responsible enough to make correct decisions. A child is not. As the adult in the case, he should not have provided or allowed the child to take drugs. No matter what the circumstances were as far as the sex goes, Polanski was the adult and he is responsible. You can not put the blame on a child especially when the child is the victim.
