In Greece we do this for everyone who dies, it was scary when my grandpa died but not when my grandma was gone, you just can't leave them alone, after all you 'll never see them again...
It's actually customs in some cultures for when people die to sleep alongside the body for a night. I've done it, and it's super harmonious and peaceful, not perverted as you make it out to be. You need more spiritual enlightenment!! :P
How about US military funerals? The body is escorted all the way till burial. It seems to me that these pansies are doing an honorable thing. Good for them.
