the victim doesn't care, so what's the point of incarcerating him for something that happened 30 yrs ago? There should be a statute of limitations on prosecution in this type of case...instead of pursuing this pederast for 30 yrs, there must be more dangerous criminals these guys could be wasting taxpayer dollars on.
By your definition #2 than murders should walk free too. The victim doesn't care, they are dead, so let them go free. The point is if he did once he has probably done it many more times and his victims have my silenced. No such thing as a one time rapist. Justice is justice and it doesn't matter what the victim wants. You wouldn't say this if he wasn't a celebrity.
The unbelievable arrogance to say "I will not accept extradition to the United States"
You RAPED a 13 year old CHILD! You've been convicted of this crime. The fact that you've been running from that for a very long-ass time does NOT change it. Now stop whining, get to the USA and do your bloody time.
2, you honestly don't get the legal system, do ya?
First he isn't just being nabbed because he assraped a child, which is horrible enough, but when he got a sentence he didn't like he FLED THE COUNTRY.
And secondly, victim forgiveness has nothing to do with it. You could shoot me in the head, I could forgive you, and it wouldn't mean a damn thing to the police and couts. It's still a crime and still punishable by law, and he's probably done it a LOT of times then paid off the parents if the kid went to them.
They're still prosecuting NAZI WAR CRIMINALS, fer crying out loud. Not to mention molesters who committed their crimes more than thirty years ago.
Are you that naive? Either that or you're one of the Hollywood douches who would be baying for blood if he were a normal person who raped a kid and jumped bail, but because he's a director who's been living the cushy life in Europe, they whine, "Let him gooooooo, he's taaaaaaaalented!"
As for his family being sad, boo hoo. It's sad for his kids since they didn't ask for this shit, but his wife knew she was marrying a child-raper, and I don't have any sympathy for her. She'll write a "sad" bestselling tell-all and make out like a bandit from all this.
#2. Unfortunately for you, the victim can't "forgive" (meaning have the case dropped) the pervert attacker. The case is the People vs Roman Pervert Polanski. The state prosecutes on behalf of the people, not just the victim. It helps if the victim cooperates, yes, but hte was also a crime against the people. But the state prosecutes to prevent other perverts from doing the same thing. I was about the age of the young girl when Pervert Polanski committed his crime, I was a resident of California, therefore the state presecuted on my behalf as well, and I have not forgiven him.
#4/#10...I'm just sayin'...there's better things to spend our money on than locking up this douchebag for $150K/yr. Lot's of criminals get pardoned by POTUS every 4 years after being found guilty in a court of law, and there are much nastier guys roaming the streets committing crimes right now. What he did was heinous, but if I had to choose between locking up a geriatric rapist or a gangbanger, I'd choose the latter...and sometimes you have to choose.
It doesn't matter that the victim has forgiven him or that it happened 30 years ago. He intentionally drugged that little girl and raped her. He needs to be imprisoned and suffer for what he did. Just because he's has money or is a "cinematic genius" in the eyes of Hollywood does not make him above the law. Throw the book at him like everyone else.
12. Just so you know, Bush 43 handed out far fewer reprieves than Clinton or President Reagan, totalling 171 pardons and eight commutations, fewer than half his two-term predecessors.
2/12. "sometimes you have to choose" This is not one of those times. How bout we try to take gangbangers off the street AND extradite Polanski. How bout that? How does that sound? "IF I had to chose" is a hypothetical.
12, what makes you think that he's STOPPED raping kids? And since he's also wealthy and famous, that means he's a lot more likely to get away with his various crimes because he can hush them up... unlike the guys on the street.
And I can imagine that child molesters everywhere shed a tear when Polanski was caught because it dashed their dreams of living with fame and fortune despite being evil perverts.
Liberals don't believe that justice is blind. They beleieve in "Empathy" maybe he had a bad childhood, that caused him to do this. Liberalism is a disease spreading throughout government. Political Correctness is literally killing us, ask any of the victims of the terrorist attack while yelling alla akbar on FT. Hood, yet the government still doesn't think it was terrorism.
#12 Choose? There's no choice here between Polanski and some gangbanger, nor is there any opton for tax payers to choose which criminals their tax dollars are worth. If I could and had to choose between locking him up or saving us $150k a year, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I let this creep loose.
but when he got a sentence he didn't like he FLED THE COUNTRY. #10 - You are wrong in your statement above. This story has been in the press for so long, you would think that at least some of you would be able to get it straight.
Polanksi agreed to plea to a lesser charge than rape, after an agreement was reached between his lawyer and the prosecutor. When he got wind that the judge planned to "set an example" of him, he fled the country. We have no idea if that rumor was true or not, but Polanski had not yet been sentenced.
#7 He wasn't convicted of a crime, he agreed to a plea deal that was thrown out by the judge. He fled before he was to stand trial so he is an "alleged" rapist.
The entitlement of this man never ceases to amaze me, he thinks he can just buy his way out of anything. This man MUST be brought to justice to set an example. Considering his age and lack of threat to society he would probably only get a few months in a country club prison so I don't know why he's whining and dragging this out. Man up already.
#12 By your logic, if a guy went out and cut off some elderly lady's arm while she slept in her bed, then we should let him off too because there have been worse crimes than that committed.
What is your ACTUAL reason for sympathising with Roman Polanski? Call me crazy but somehow I don't think it's a genuine concern over how tax dollars are spent. So what is it then? You have made it clear that you fundamentally don't think that raping a 13-year-old is a big deal.
The bastard: 1) drugged and raped a child. 2) Ran from the law....and yet some people here seem to think that HE is the one being persecuted. Roman Polanski should be down on his child-raping knees thanking the gods above that he's been treated so well. He's been living well in Europe with a wife and kids when he should have been sitting in a jail cell with Big Tyrone The Gay Rapist.
His wife should also be put away, imagine any woman marrying a rapist. What a dirty stinking money hungry whore. If I could get my hands around this little pussys neck I would make him glad he was in jail.
lol "like a little girl being chased by a bee" lol I have visions of adorable curly haired children in dresses running around on the playground raising holy hell....LOL ah i love being a nanny

while i do agree rape is wrong, i think there are other issues at hand here. what was a 13 year old doing at the party, alone, and drinking anyways? Where were her parents? why have they not been charged with child endangerment?
Whle i agree, celebrities shouldnt get away with crimes simply because they have money and fame, im sure their are better examples to be made then a 76 year old man that most of this generation have no clue who he is. If you want to make an impact, start actually inforcing the law on all these lowlife, drug addicted, drunk driving, care free celebrities, like Paris hilton and nicole richie and britney spears and bam managera. lets persecute the actual people that this generation hails as role models, instead of an old perv, who is on his way out in life.
Okkk, number 32, all of your questions can be answered and your generalizations dismantled. Firstly, "this" generation, for the most part, where I'm from at least, knows exactly who Roman Polanski is. He's kind of a big deal. Apparently you were unawares. Secondly, her parents? They had let her go with Roman Polanski because she was a model for a photographic shoot. I don't know if you are really that stoked on modeling, but a lot of model start their portfolios at around that age, so as a trusting young model, it doesn't seem unrealistic that her parents should have been able to drop her off with a famous director WITHOUT him completely taking advantage of her in almost every way possible.
This video post is great. This is a part of living in society: You must suffer the democratically agreed punishment for crimes. Being popular, or happening 30 years ago, cannot change that fact. He's a fugitive, running from a convicted crime. Would there be a boycott if he wasn't a famous director? I think not.
Lets not forget this was an American girl. He was a guest in this country. This is not an issue with what SHE was doing. Are you kidding me? I want to kill him and his current wife. They should both be in prison. She is a dirty fucking money hungry whore. PERIOD. And he is a Child Molester.
Where have the real men of Hollywood gone? Polanski's crime should be punishable by death in any truly just society. He should be shot by a military firing squad with nothing more than a cigarette
actually 33, i know exactly who roman polanski is, and he hasnt been a big deal in almost 30 years, so while you and i may know who he is, doesnt mean him going to jail is going to set any sort of example. Secondly, she was dropped off at a PARTY in an attempt to meet someone to boost her career at ANOTHER house, she was then picked up, DRINKING, by mr. polanski, where they went to his room at another mansion down the street. Witnesses at the party, say she was intoxicated and doing drugs and drinking Before she even met Roman, and left with him willingly. Did he offer her drugs, sure, the same drugs he was doing along with everyone else. So before you jump on me OR call me unaware, perhaps read BOTH Statements, especially where she says, of her own volition, the facts i just stated.
#28 Maybe you should buy a dictionary because "admitting" to a crime is not the same as being "convicted" of a crime. Also, the irony of your post amused me.
#28 Maybe you should buy a dictionary because "admitting" to a crime is not the same as being "convicted" of a crime. Also, the irony of your post amused me.
Then it's a good thing that Polanski "admitted" to his crime (what lawyer-types call an "elocution"), was convicted of his crime, then fled the country before he was sentenced for his crime.
This way, there's no irony involved whatsoever. You're just full of shit.
I should be shocked how many people don't care about kids. Where were her parent? These all the other excuses people come up with just blow your mind. Here a thought for you liberal left-brained people, You have a little sister, niece, cousin or whatever, some man gives her booze and drugs, then anally rapes her. Is that okay with you? Should the rest of us say, well where's the parents? What this man really needs it about 20 years in prison in the general population.
Once again, Todd, thou protesteth too much. Feeling a little guilty for posting all those Miley Cyrus upskirts? Or maybe you're just jealous. Tell you what. I'll build a time machine, and you can go back and double team with Roman. Fucking hypocrite pervert loser.
#32: She wasn't at "a party". She was on a professional engagement to pose for some photographs to be taken by the famous auteur Roman Polanski. Her mother left her alone because she apparently thought that a famous professional director like Polanski would not abuse her child. How wrong she was... And she was drinking because Polanski insisted that she drink, along with taking a half quaalude. Are not adults responsible for refraining from giving children alcohol and drugs, even in Hollywood? And we are not asking that he be made "an example". We insist that the bastard pay for his crimes. Period.
Also - quit the damn liberal-bashing on this. I'm as liberal as you can get, and I would pull a Lorena Bobbitt on this assclown if I ever got near him. That's because I am a HUMAN. Screw political parties - this has nothing to do with it.
I agree with everything this guy said in his video. I watched that film, and they tried to elicit sympathy for Roman because of what happened to his wife. Ok, having your wife murdered does not issue you a free pass to drug and rape a child. I feel NO sympathy for this man. I wonder how many other children he has had the opportunity to molest or rape since he has been free? That is what pedophile's do, they molest any children that they have access to. The only thing that will generally stop a pedophile is jail time.

She wasn't at "a party".
