Ah, although Brittany Murphy's drug use started before Simon Monjack came along, he clearly wasn't a healthy influence. He's also a reputed drug user (along with being an alleged con artist and all). Not surprisingly, Brittany came to a quicker end than Lindsay Lohan Cockroach Crotch will.
The only pain meds are the vicoprofen and the lortab. If she had an upper respiratory infection, the steroids or medrol pack and the biaxin would be indicated. I'm sorry but I see lots of ordinary people with lists of prescriptions that mimick this. If she did OD, that is too bad. I think taking her health history of being a type 2 diabetic, her recent weight loss, and upper respiratory infection would lend a much better theory of what killed her. Not only is the coronor waiting for toxicology results but also her metabolic profile to see if her electrolytes were out of wack (which could make you have a seizure, heart attack, and die).
Either being an actor is an incredibly stressful profession (necessitating massive drugs) or it attracts deranged deluded unhinged types of people. Either way, she (just like Heath Ledger) killed herself. See ya, Brittany; you did it to yourself...
after reading that list of drugs... not to many of them sound different from what the average person would have in there cabinet...could understand if she had oxycontin or roxycodone but most of the drugs there were relativly mild.
didn't someone report she was also on massive amounts of adderall? Which is hollywood's new coke by the way. Adderall + anorexia + flu = heart no worky. the end.
Wasn't that good of an actress to begin with. Sh*t, I actually had to look her up on imdb.com - and even after that, I couldn't remember her ! I bet $5 this is the time she got the most front pages. Oh, is amazing the extremes people go in CA to get a front page ! Look at Michael Jackson !
And now that she's dead, she's probably worth 10x more to her husband - "My life with Brittany: a True Hollywood Story". To be recommended by Oprah, to be for 50 weeks @ top 10 list @ NY Times . . .
Fluoxetine = not a good idea for bipolars--can trigger mania, Ativan = what the hell are you doing with Ativan when you already have Klonopin, Propanolol = cheapo anxiety med/contraindicated in diabetics (where's her insulin? Mom says she was diabetic)
Vicoprofen AND Hydrocodone? For what, exactly? Biaxin for "the flu"? No. Biaxin is a pretty strong antibiotic, but it won't help you if you've got the flu. Maybe she was taking it to prevent catching her husband's Cooties.
The prednisone I can't figure. No fun to be had with that one, and it can screw up your mood, get you kicked off movie sets and things of that nature.
They give anti-inflammatories to horses, that I know. Maybe she had a horse problem.
Just because all of those meds were there does not mean that Brittany Murphy was taking all of them. She could have taken the Vicodin and the Klonopin in too close of proximity, and accidentally overdosed. People forget that narcotics stay in your system longer than other drugs. Add booze and you significantly increase the chances of heart failure. This is a sad accident - nothing more. RIP Brittany.
Love your site and never did like Murphy much as an actress so I'm definately "all butt hurt" about anything you've said about her but you conclusion that she loved to get high because of these meds is reaching at best. It wa stated that some of them were her husbands, mothers, and other parties. For all those people thats not many drugs IMO. Never mind the fact that only two were opiate pain meds that could have been prescribed months apart. One was a diabetes drug and another heart medication. Klonapin=anxiety drug which can also be used for heart conditions. So while I have no love for the girl I would not use what TM fucking Z is reporting as a sign of drug abuse at all!
those meds are typical of someone with anxiety disorder, no narcotics in there so i dunno maybe she took too much propanolol and that lowered her blood pressure too much. strange, there was no diabetic meds in there (i.e. insulin, metformin, etc..)
Don't know about the others, but propranolol doesn't get you high at all. I was on it for a few years for my migraines. If you quit taking it suddenly without weaning yourself off it properly, you can have a heart attack.
It's really a shame she was abusing prescription drugs the way she did. I hope more people see this and realize that they need to stop popping pills like crazy.
Our family prays together and that's our high. Everything about Hollywood's values is rotten to the core, how they live, what they produce. There are no family friendly movies I can take my kids to. It's just movies about people forsaking God and becoming vampires so they can have sex with vampires, or becoming aliens so they can have sex with aliens.
Without knowing who's drugs are who's, all this proves is that someone has migraines and therefore taking pain meds, someone has inflammatory disease and possibly taking pain meds, someone is suffering from depression/ anxiety disorder and taking depression meds and anxiety meds, someone is sick and taking an antibiotic, and someone has a heart disorder.
I am not saying that someone can't abuse the anxiety meds and pain meds, but all I am saying is that if TMZ wanted it to look like someone was abusing prescription meds, they should have left out all but the pain meds and anxiety meds because otherwise, all the meds work together to help overcome certain medical problems.
I don't understand how the "official" cause of death (natural causes) was released so quickly. No way of knowing the official cause until an autopsy and tox report. Oh - and btw, why do people visit this site to gleefully partake in daily snark/biting remarks and then act hurt and shocked when they don't find glowing, heartfelt tributes after a celeb death? If you're looking for emotinonal mush, go visit the fan sites of individual celebs. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IDLYITW!
I've worked with her. I know other people who've worked with her a *lot*. There's nothing at all surprising about this entire episode. It sucks because she was a sweet kid, but everybody around her knew it was coming.
One of Topamax's potential side effects is weight loss that can be severe. It did undergo trials as a weight loss drug but its other side effects were so bad that it failed miserably. I took it briefly for seizures and had to stop because it fucked with my short term memory so badly.
Self-diagnosing, and doctor-shopping. Pretty much exactly what killed Heath Ledger. You pile up enough of this perfectly legal stuff, and eventually you don't know how much you took, and when. Game over.
I have several of those medicines in my cabinet. The propranol was given to try and help migraines and the hydrocodone when I had swine flu and a bad cough.
You know, when someone dies, it is not cool to openly make fun of them. I am not a BM fan, but she is/was a human being and it is tragic that she died, regardless of what some moron with a website thinks. When you put this kind of bile out there, it eventually comes back on you.
Considering how many of those meds are for bipolar disorder it's clear she had mental health issues and I would bet any amount of money that her psychiatrist killed her. Psych docs prescribe meds like candy because they're uncaring assholes who just want to placate the patient. This is what happened to Marilyn Monroe and Anna Nicole. Both killed by psychopathic psychiatrists. maybe Tom Cruise has a point.
It doesn't matter now how she died, just that she is in fact dead and gone. She was a vibrant young woman who had her whole life ahead of her and she has family and friends who will mourn and miss her terribly. I'm not really shocked at the callousness I've read here but it does make me sad to see it because what is the point.
WTF are you talking/writing about?! There wasn't a lot of pain med in that list, unless I missed something? Not too much different than most other people out there.
Maybe you should research the "slam" before you initiate it...because right about now, you sound/write like a moron (even though most of the time I think you're hilarioius).
i take anti anxiety and meds for depression for about 4 yrs,and when i read stuff like this i get really scared!definitely makes me a lot more carefull with them,i never thought those things r so dangerous
To all of you jackasses that say these prescriptions are normal - hydrocodone is Vicodin. There is no reason for someone to be taking Vicodin unless they have had an acute physical injury. If you're getting them for any other reason there's an issue. Doctors that prescribe hydrocodone on a prolonged basis are behaving unethically.
She never had this much publicity when she was alive. Enough of her already. She couldn't act for shit. Look at her in Sin City, ugh. Why do people care so much about a crap actress? Really?
"To all of you jackasses that say these prescriptions are normal - hydrocodone is Vicodin. There is no reason for someone to be taking Vicodin unless they have had an acute physical injury."
You are officially UN-INVITED to my Christmas party.
The article says OUTRIGHT that not all of the prescriptions were in her name. And I quote: "Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent's husband's name, the decedent's mother's name and unidentified third party names."
So this list is a compendium of a couple's combined medicine cabinet. Look in most people's medicine cabinets. You'll find all sorts of fun things: Painkillers left over from injuries or surgeries, psychiatric medication, unfinished antibiotics, etc.
And only TWO of those medications are actually suspicious in any way: Hydrocodone and Vicoprofen.
The rest indicate that she had psychiatric problems. Fluoxetine is Prozac, Topamax is an anti-seizure med that is used as a mood stabilizer and to treat migraines, Ativan is pretty commonly prescribed for anxiety. AND THERE'S NO REAL EVIDENCE SHE WAS THE ONE TAKING ALL OF THESE. Some of them were prescribe to her husband. Which ones? Oh, we don't know, because then TMZ couldn't publish a list of every prescription found in her home (her or not) to use as evidence that she was a PSYCHOTIC DRUG FIEND and SWALLOWED HANDFULS OF PILLS to spin the story (which is thin, at this stage) in a way that will get people visiting their webpage and so they can also provide E! and Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood with "facts" to do segments on their shows about how drug-addled and troubled she was because everyone loves a scandal.
The reality is: If bottles of Prozac and antibiotics in our house are evidence of drug abuse, then gee, most of us are drug friends. And if she was taking antibiotics and mood stabilizers for fun, well, SHE WAS DOIN' IT WRONG.
Stick with posting pictures of tits, man. Logic and anything resembling journalism are beyond your reach.
Came to this site randomly, found this article randomly (as have heard about this death). Read the post, read many of the comments.
Astounded at how low people can be and act. Less digging in assumptions and hating, more learning to love and be yourself please. I swear the people that participate in this shit must be the very same who make this world a hard place to live in.
the same day that this no-talent died....at least 50-100 people died in Iraq...civilians as well as U.S. military...yet no one seems overly concerned about their deaths...go figure
her "career" (that was marginal at best) was on the wane...so she committed suicide because she couldn't deal with the shame of becoming a has-been (who never even really was)...so really who the fuck cares..I sure don't
a couple of garden variety pain pills and depression/anxiety meds? Big deal. I hardly think having this shit in her possession automatically means she "really, really" likes to get high.
"it's pretty obvious at this point that Brittany Murphy really, really liked to get high. I don't think she liked the dying part, though. I mean, who does? "

Carbemazepine isn't for diabetes at all. It's an anticonvulsant drug, also used for bipolar disorder as well as certain neuralgias.

Came to this site randomly, found this article randomly (as have heard about this death). Read the post, read many of the comments.
Astounded at how low people can be and act.
Less digging in assumptions and hating, more learning to love and be yourself please.
I swear the people that participate in this shit must be the very same who make this world a hard place to live in.

her "career" (that was marginal at best) was on the wane...so she committed suicide because she couldn't deal with the shame of becoming a has-been (who never even really was)...so really who the fuck cares..I sure don't

a couple of garden variety pain pills and depression/anxiety meds? Big deal. I hardly think having this shit in her possession automatically means she "really, really" likes to get high.

I thought the autopsy showed there were no signs of drugs in her system? Unless that isn't important to a post like this. Huh. (scratches head)
