I tried watching Avatar last night but couldn't make it through the whole thing. The dialog, the plot, everything is so tired and old (see Dances with the Wolves, Pocahontas, etc). The alien creatures look fucking stupid - it's like they looked on Deviant Art for the worst kind of furry concept art and took that. Awful, awful movie.
I don't see how this movie has made so much money. Its so lame and uninteresting to me. All this CGI in movies used to be cool when used sparingly, now its the star. Besides once you see it on Blue Ray it's gonna look fake big time, like 'I Robot' for example. You'll no longer appreciate 'the cinematic phenomenom', it will just look like a Saturday morning cartoon. I'll just stick to my comedies, gangster movies and war films.
I have yet to see the movie but it seems that many people are seeing it again and again. That must account for something. The fact that they are getting viewers to come and pay again and the fact that the prices of tickets are much higher than they were 10 years ago equals a higher gross and more revenue. Cameron deserves some credit especially from such a big layoff.
Avatar was pretty corny and hokey, with a very simplistic good vs bad message. The ending is so Hollywood feel-good it's embarrassing. I'm a little bit ashamed that I bought into the hype.
Now, Todd's movie - that sounds like something I could get behind!
So the movie was about getting some expensive rock, they find the motherload under their home tree, plan on moving them out by force if nessecary, they do move them out and then keeping chasing them all the way to the other mother tree with no mention of getting the rock that was back under the other tree..... ummm.. hello?
It has made so much money bc of overpriced ticket prices and the amount of sheep in the world...SHEEEEEEEEEP! This movie didnt work its jedi mind tricks on me, i almost laughd a few times and Im nt seeing it again. Thank goodness I only had to pay for one ticket
This mediocre movie was seriously overrated. It's amazing how susceptible people are to hype, and how they will readily take on the opinion that is force fed to them by PR agendas, paid (sponsored) reviewers and the Hollywood propaganda machine.
Avatar = Dances With Wolves meets Pocohontas in space, nothing more. I don't care how amazing the CGI allegedly was (I wasn't impressed with it or the 3D) – a movie with such a derivative/clichéd plot, weak script/subtext, hackneyed dialogue and banal acting is definitely not deserving of the awards and accolades it is unjustifiably receiving, let alone deserving of highest grossing film ever.
It just goes to show, people really are that fucking stupid...
I don't care what anyone says. I fucking loved the movie. Yeah the plot is the same as Dances w/ Wolves and many other stories, but who cares. So are the plots in a lot of movies. I only see movies once in theaters though. That shit costs too much to go see something again and again.

I put a DOT in the middle, because I refuse to link to this nonsense, but this is a perfect example of people who have no life because of this ridiculous movie.

I suppose the fact that movie tickets are about $5 more now than when Titanic was released, has nothing to do with it?

Didn't the native people in Disney's Atlantis have a lot of blue in them? Wasn't it also pretty clear cut good versus bad?

Anything anti-American and anti-white people sells no matter now boring and unentertaining it is. Says a lot about the state of our world doesn't it?
