  5. Thank God someone said it. I won't donate one cent to people who don't need or value the help. Besides, Justin Timberlake butchered "Hallelujah."

  7. I'm black, so I should be able to argue this and stand with my fellow dark-skins. But Todd's right on the money. So let's just shut down Haiti and give the people better opportunities elsewhere.

  9. Yep, screw Haiti. Anyone ever notice just how much the Haitians hate us? So I say that all these countries that bitch about us, we pull all aid and all troops, bring everything home and take care of our own people for a change. Sorry, but I think that a family where both parents are unemployed is far more worthy of support than some Haitian that only complains about how the US didn't send aid fast enough. To hell with everyone else, time for isolationism I say.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 03:26:53

  11. Wow you Americans here really are a selfish, disgraceful bunch of people.

When Katrina and 9/11 happened you didn't see ONE person overseas whinging about how they shouldn't send aid because someone locally needed the money. We all pitched and helped out.

The fact is that over 200+ thousand people would have DIED by the time this is over. And you're complaining about people who have simply lost their job but still get welfare, medicaid, medicare, food stamps etc.

  12. Dear Mr Todd,
    You are one funny SOAB.
Cynicism is your business and you make it an art form. Of course you are 100% wrong but you are one funny motherfucker. Respect!!!!

  13. I don't disagree with helping Haitians, I don't think it should be our country vs yours when it comes to natural disasters.
However, take a look at some of the neighborhoods in downtown Detroit. It looks a hell of a lot like the earthquake devastation. They could use the money to tear down abandoned buildings/houses & do something positive with the land. What about the people STILL living in FEMA trailers from Katrina??

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 03:43:46

  14. #11 - Yeah, many (most?) here are disgustingly greedy and selfish.

  18. "Wow you Americans here really are a selfish, disgraceful bunch of people."

If we're all so selfish and disgraceful, why have we donated more to this disaster than any other single county in the world.

This is Todd's site, and I don't always agree with everything he has to say, but if you're going to use it as a yardstick to judge an entire country, you're a fucking retard.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 04:12:52

  19. Rock on, Todd. That is all.
And to the (presumable) Eurowienie in the earlier post who was attempting to shame us greedy, base Americans for thinking maybe we ought to take care of our own first and let the rest of the world throw good money after bad in Haiti, here's a wake up call, chuckle head. If whatever socialistic utopia you're from DID help America after Katrina, I would be willing to bet that America has given far more to your country than you did or ever could to ours. It might have been in aid, it might have been in commerce, it might even have been in the blood of my country men- hard to say since you're too chickenshit to admit to your nation of origin. Point is, whatever debt you THINK America owes the rest of the world, you're painfully, embarrassingly ignorant and wrong.

On people who have moved out into the country.
Oh, they are singing and bathing in the river!
Oh, the unspoiled forests are mnore beautiful than Avatar!
Ummm... Forgot to mention that they are still at a

The best thing the world could so for Haiti is...
    Import Capitalism!
What the hell are we? The world's child support?
When the fuck do we get visitation?
    And conjugal visits with baby-mama!
Hey France! Its your fucking former colony - go help tham!

  28. It's funny to see this coming from a bunch of people sitting IN A HOME ON A COMPUTER WITH INTERNET ACCESS COMPLAIN ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE THAT DON'T EVEN HAVE A MATRESS OR WATER TO WASH THEIR A*S WITH.For anybody to complain about us giving money to haiti or any other country is ridculous.. We are the ones who decided (for whatever reason) that we are the world police. So if it's okay for us to invade other countries because we don't agree with how they run it, than I think it's okay to help a country when it's in ruins. Some of you are also forgetting that their is a good number of Americans of Haitian decent with that said as americans I think their fams deserve a little help from our country.

    By ThatsAmerica4u, on January 25, 2010 05:01:55

  29. Yikes, man. I kinda would like to think of a one-nation world, ya know? We're all people. Just because there are people suffering in, say, Detroit, or our own country, doesn't mean the Haitians don't deserve help. They didn't cause the earthquake.

I think Todd was saying fuck the celebs for raising all this money for Haiti just ebcause it gets them more attention than raising money for a normal, every day cause (like the 20% unemployed in our country?!).

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:07:06

  30. KUDOS to Hollywood for taking a terrible, devastating disaster and using it as an excellent free PR!!

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:14:19

  31. While I usually find your sense of humor funny today I don't. Referring to a soldier at Walter Reed who lost his leg trying to defuse a bomb is so insensitive that I had to say something. As a Member of the US Armed Forces, who has friends at Walter Reed that have lost their leg for that very reason your comment has bothered me to my core. Yes, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) career field risks their lives every day defusing bombs placed by insurgents, but they do it knowing that they are saving lives. I have lost friends because of their belief, they sacrifice everything for their fellow soldiers. I understand your intent but the delivery sucked.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:18:38

  32. You got it, # 29. Folks - Haiti does need help.

But where are the celebs raising funds to help our own desperate citizens?

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:18:54

  33. I find it funny how that whole Bush/Clinton Haiti fund appeared the day after the disaster...yet after Katrina what the fuck did that monkey faced loser do? nothing. Yet, when another Country is in need, the motherfucker who isn't even in office leaps at the chance to help...with other peoples money.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:19:45

  34. Hope For Haiti telethon: $58M raised after being on every station with every star imaginable from George Clooney to U2.

Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon: $60.5M on Labor Day, being broadcast on a bunch of crappy channels from Las Vegas with a bunch of B-list stars.

Scoreboard, Hollywood. See how much influence you REALLY have?

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:26:59

  35. I am from Germany (and no Eurowienie ;-]). First I thought this article was pure cynicism, but I realized that I haven't donated a single cent for Haiti and that I'm not planning on doing so.
    Why? Two points:
    1. As much as I feel sorry for the Haitians I see many poor, starving or tortured people in the world. Just think of the poor Pakistani kid that probably made your shoes you are wearing right now. I don't have enough money to heal the world.
    2. Why do people without any money, food or home other human beings? Why do the keep on fucking like there's no tomorrow? As I have understood the Haitians didn't have anything to eat before the earth quake, not only after it.

So I don't like to admit it, but it may be right: Donating is for wimps, 100.000 more or less dead doesn't make any difference, for thousands of others get anonymously screwed each and every day.

  36. #28 - how do you wash your ass with a mattress?

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:31:33

  37. #31, I think Todd's brutally straightforward delivery actually underscores the danger, heroism, and value of what bomb techs do. IMO, he wasn't try to knock EOD guys, completely the opposite -- that they put their lives on the line. BTW, thank you for your service to this country :)

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:36:27

  38. Your cynicism and political views have gone too far on this one. Many times I thought I would stop coming to this site because of some over the top, offensives remarks, but this might do it. maybe. It's not what you want to read when you are coming for a distraction from all the harsh reality and political bullshit out there. By some of these comments, there are some seriously miserable human beings who read this site.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:38:02

  39. Maybe I've missed something here but since when were Haiti a threat to America?
Why are you lot trying to make yourselves feel better by saying "I'd rather give to a tramp in Detroit" when you know you won't do that either? How about having free healthcare like any other civilized nation then you wouldn't have to. Although, let me guess, you're against that because it's communism, y'all, yee-hah!
You talk about the US giving foreign aid, "blood of our soldiers", blah, blah, blah, which is great, the US has helped the world (or fucked it up completely depending on your viewpoint), but as a person, you haven't helped at all except sit at your PC whilst orphans who have nothing starve.
Well done you bunch of cold-hearted c*nts.

    By Londoner, on January 25, 2010 05:42:15

  40. People in Detroit can find a shelter.
People in Detroit can apply for government aid. People in Detroit can walk into a hospital and receive healthcare if they lost a limb in the rubble of what was once their home.
These are PEOPLE. Not just Haitian people. And their conditions are worse than anything this country has ever seen. Including Katrina. And that has nothing to do with how propsperous, or fiscally responsible their government has been. They are people. Children.
You are such an idiot when it comes to social and political issues. I read this for your humor regarding the inane and shallow subject matter. When you write about that stuff I forget how ignorant you are.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 05:54:24

  42. I fall between believing that every Haitian is a blood sucking vampire and that they are all angels straight from heaven. I don't donate to charity, period, and if this makes me cruel and heartless, well, I am. I think it's stupid to rationalize this heartlessness as patriotism, which is what many here are attempting to do.

#24 That's not funny. Not at all. Not in anyway is that funny. At all. Well, maybe a bit.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 06:14:01

  45. Todd, go ahead and diss all them sanctimonious Hollywood millionaires all you like, I'm with you. But earthquake victims anywhere do, actually, deserve help.

And here's an idea, y'all: instead of choosing between helping Haiti and helping Detroit, how about choosing between spending billions on the useless Afghan war - and helping Detroit?

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 06:31:24

  46. Fair enough, if you dont want the USA to help Haiti then maybe the international community shouldn't be helping your fucking asses out in Afghanistan or Iraq or anyplace else where you put your nose where its not wanted. You can't win a fucking war to save yourselves, you are the laughing stock of the world.

And dont give us the shit that "if it wasnt for us you'd be speaking German" - I think you'll find its the Russians we owe that debt to, so go fuck yourself you inbred yank pricks.

    By Scott, on January 25, 2010 06:32:51

  47. And we could not care less what the rest of the world thinks of us. And that bothers you euro trash.

  48. #41 See also: miserable human being. I never assumed anyone would care if I stopped reading this site, just noted that I probably would. And why are you so important and your existence so indispensable that I should give a shit if you think I am unimportant and completely expendable to you? You are the self important piece of shit here. Not me.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 06:57:57

  49. Todd has a point. I agree 19. 31 you are missing it... And I want to know why there is all this fuss for Haiti -(that no one here was even thinking about prior to the earthquake for the most part)- when there was hardly ANY help or aid going to the victims of the Tsunami a few years ago - onl reporting. They lost 200,000 lives... how is Haiti different?

The world thinks they are entitled to our help and yet they curse us at the same time. I want to know why a lot of these places aren't using birth control. So you save lives but then what? Why are places that have no resources cranking out babies left and right. It makes no sense.

If you value lives - at least have the resources to support them or quit having so many. Haiti has the hightest aids rate in the world - so much of this is out of control and it is in some ways like throwing good money after bad. I know this is not idealistic thinking like number 16 seems to have - but realism is more practical.

So number 16... People are dying ... now what? Where are the resources to help once they are saved for the next 20 years? and how many more kids with no resources will they procreate - only to continue the same problem for another century???....

By What about the Tsunami vicitims?, on January 25, 2010 07:08:10

  51. I'll donate money to have Todd's retarded ass killed and to dump his maggot-ridden corpse in a hole with the rest of the fucktards who agree with him.

What do you say folks? WE CAN DO THIS!

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 07:16:42

  52. Somebody call the fucking waaaaahmbulance. Ok everybody, ready? This is how the world works:

    1. Poor countries reproduce indiscriminately, allow and participate in crime, and are still sitting around making fucking pottery.

    2. Rich countries reproduce responsibly, and make technological advances and policies that dictate a higher standard of living.

So then, magically, when the poor countries and their backward bullshit run into problems, the rich countries have to pony up. Not just that, even when there isn't disaster, we still have to pony up to help their fucking infantile asses.

And what do we get for it? Hated around the fucking world. By everyone. The Haitians are so fucking stupid, that they fucked up reading the expiration dates on the food we sent them, and started rumors that it was bad, and they all wouldn't eat the aid food. True story.

So here's what were gonna do. Everybody else, fuck the fuck off and get your shit together. Don't like it? Fucking die then and let the entire world cut some fucking dead weight. Your like fucking animals that somehow learned to talk, so now we have to treat you like people.

And to the Eurofags talking shit. Fuck you, don't you have a fucking neon techno gangbang to go to? Or are you too busy getting fucked in the ass by the entire muslim world? My state has a fucking bigger population than your entire country. Sit down faggot.

Don't pretend like US isn't the fucking capital of the world, because it is. We are the shit, and have been for some time, and if you don't like it, suck our fucking dicks and do better.

    Love,
    America

  54. These fly infested nigger countries make me sick. Every year they're holding their hand out for western countries to send their hard earned cash. We have problems in our own coutries that get overlooked, why do we have people still living on the streets, this money could help these people.

Either they need exterminating now, or let them fester in their own shithole and leave them to die with no aid whatsoever. Millions are sent to these monkeys every year, this does not solve the problem, they will happily waste this money and want more and more. Fuck them all. Can anyone here name a black genius, no, well that's becasue they don't have the capacity, just like other wildlife.
Niggers are un-evolved, just like neanderthal, they will disappear with luck. It's survial of the fittest, if they can't survive without western money, then that's evolution.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 07:38:22

  56. It's not too much money considering their need. But it's way too much considering the lack of any means to ensure that all the aid will be put to good use. Numbers like these, in a country as corrupt and dysfunctional as Haiti - BEFORE the natural disaster - guarantees that the skim has already started. Like it or not, a part of your donation will find its way into the pocket of a criminal. Probably a large part.

  65. My take? This "telethon" wasn't about Haiti at all. It was about FREE exposure and PR for a bunch of washed-up "actors."

It sickens me that there are people who buy this charade of horseshit.

Had each of those "actors" discreetly and anonymously ponied up a million bucks, which they could all easily afford, especially with the nice tax writeoff it would provide them, they could have raised well over fifty million themselves and spare the rest of us their mutual sickening ego masturbating.

    Fuck-off Hollywood. You transparant imbeciles.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 09:12:32

  66. I have no intentions of donating any money to Haiti. Why should I? When our own government will begin to take care of it's own, and I'm talking veterans and it's own citizens, then I might think of throwing a buck or two into the pot just to make me feel good.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 09:36:38

  67. I would expect a website such as this one that deals in celebrity gossip and naked women to have a more liberal minded following. The vile hatred that has spewed from the mouths of those posting is abhorrent and sickening. I don't if the original post was made in jest or seriousness, but the overwhelming agreement that the Haitians should be left to die by the hundreds of thousands without care or support is beyond disheartening. While I do not believe that those posting on this site represent the majority opinion of this country, I do believe it is a sad statement for the humanity of those who feel that way. Haitians did not bring down our economy, or plummet Detroit into an economic wasteland. The fact that you believe they should suffer and die for the bad legislation of our own elected officials is fucking disgusting.

I love how Obama takes away charitable deductions for donations made here AT HOME- but said he would consider allowing them for donations made to Haiti. It is all political. And yes, Haiti will end up "hating" us again as soon as our dollars dry up.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing George Clooney and the rest of the sactimonious Hollywood fucks have a fundraiser for the 6.1 million people who have been unemployed long term IN THIS COUNTRY or give a couple million to the 14 million families possibly facing foreclosure IN THIS COUNTRY.

What the hell do they have to offer the world market anyway? oh, right coffee, seriously!! Not every country can prosper the way America has, sorry, I know people dont want to buy in to that thinking, we have our own problems but that country has and always will be a huge fucking mess that the world and its celebrities will continue to try to clean up, why the hell would they empower themselves, they would lose all that free money and aid.

  79. I'm 20 minutes max in any direction from Haitian immigrants. My GENERAL opinion is they're brutal, violent people who bring nothing positive whatsofuckingever with them when they wash up on shore. Call it bigotry, cultural differences, whatever. I might act the same way if I'd lived in a place like Haiti but I didn't and am pretty happy about that.

Having said that, any country devastated as it has been should be helped. Just because we've been fattening their corrupt government for years doesn't mean we've bought the option to look away now.

Compassion is never a bad thing and to be a decent human being it's a necessary thing. I help "my own" first if their need is as bad as the other guy but I bet we'd be hard pressed to find anyone here having to burn their dead relatives because of the stench of their rotting bodies. Not even in Detroit.

  80. I'm wondering where such enormous sums of cash will go? Haiti isn't a very big country so how many billions does it take to rebuild what are basically shacks? A good use for the money left over from food and medicine would be a scholarship fund or an Oprah Winfrey school. Without education Haiti will return to third world status no matter how much cash is pumped in. We learned this with Africa.

And maybe next time the USA needs help from the rest of the world maybe you'll think about trying to be even more compassionate.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 11:56:18

  85. Todd, what you don't realise is that celebs love nothing more than to tell everyone else how to spend their money. Rather than sell one of their many houses or fancy-pants cars they like to dictate to ordinary hard working people, who could only dream of earning even 1/2 of what they do for what is basically "pretending". Like I said, how much could they donate if they weren't so busy being wonderful?

And as for the racial element. When the tsunami happened there weren't riots for food as there have been here. What is happening with the amount of aid being pumped into poorer countries is that it creates dependency.

  90. The plight of the Haitian people is sad indeed, but with such a corrupt government in place they will never be able to overcome the poverty level no matter how much international funds are thrown at them.

Since we cannot "meddle" in these situations, we can only watch, and wait, for the next tragedy to take place. I recall a few years back, tankers with tons of perishable food, and aid being forbidden to dock, until millions of dollars in payoffs were made to corrupt government officials.

The U.S. was condemned internationally for not giving in the the graft. Eventually they gave in, but, you get the picture. That's what we are dealing with.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 12:56:37

But Nooo you wouldn'd do that now would you because you know better. and 99 - okay - let's save everyone... and now what? They were starving before the earthquake - what do we do next? 107. I love the appeals for compassion and drawing of stereotypes that are so often prevalent in the minds of underdeveloped children. Haiti is a lost cause; a island which will not help itself and therefore can't be helped. Let me know when they introduce population control. Of course that is about as likely as hell freezing over or George Clooney donating his own money to these zealous campaigns for common humanity; aka the expansion of personal legacy.

    By anonymous, on January 25, 2010 17:35:36

  108. You know some idiot said maybe Haiti should take responsibility for the situation they were in before the quake. If we're talking responsibility, then the U.S., Brits, and French should take responsibility for plunging a majority of the world back into the dark ages.

I love how whites, fucking raped Africa and made it the shit hole it is (and continue to steal from Africa - blood diamonds,Land-south Africa, e.t.c.)and yet the minute they get off their fat pompous asses to help others in need, the few, the ignorant and the racist, will rise up to shout the loudest about how "wrong" it that the U.S. should have to help the people they fucked over in the first.

If you wanna pretend Haiti doesn't exist now then maybe you should have left them in Africa. Who am I kidding, though, I can guarantee atleast 99.9% of the loudest idiots on here would have the balls to stand up in public and repeat the same shit, even in an all white crowd. If you want the freedom to say anything you want the be man man enough to say with the safe anonymity of your computer screen. But I guess you would have to be a man first and not a pussy.

  110. Tood, I wholeheartedly agree with you. There are so many more deserving people in this very country.

What's even more aggravating is how these Haitians were literally demanding money and aid on TV. They were furious that, 2 days after the earthquake, enough money hadn't arrived yet.

I mean, what the fuck? Help is something you get from someone else out of the kindness of their hearts. It's something you can ask for, beg for, but never to demand. Who do they think they are? This also leads me to ask myself, "What the fuck did Haiti ever do for the world to DEMAND aid?"

    By Tizzle, on January 25, 2010 18:55:11

  111. I'm willing to bet that all the whiners who say "fuck Haiti, I'm not donating money to them when there are people in America who need it just as bad" aren't donating anything to American causes either. Selfish, stupid, small-minded fuckwits. You all cried like babies at 9/11.

  115. Even more alarming than Todd's post has been the response to it. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Somewhere in the region of 200,000 people are dead with many more in need of help. If you make any argument against the fundraising efforts, you should immediately exclude yourself from the human race. This Todd has proven time and again that he's an attention seeking, insensitive, prejudiced a-hole. His readership, who I will cease to be a part of, appear to be much worse. This site will be best served sticking to superficial celeb news and nsfw pics.

    By anonymous, on January 26, 2010 01:15:21

  116. Reading these comments is akin to reading scribblings of psychopaths. I would go through the history of how Haiti was the largest exporter of coffee and sugar, and was the first free black republic but that would be lost in the expanse of nothingness that is your head. I could also explain Haiti's elected government was overthrown twice by the US. Also the government was forced to lower tariffs on rice from 50% to around 3% putting farmers out of business and creating a migration to the cities. Then last year rice prices shot through the roof and since they did not grow their own food they went hungry because the people could not afford the imported rice. Food riot!!
Now Haiti needs aid so send money.

You people are FUCKED IN THE HEAD!

    By anonymous, on January 26, 2010 01:57:36

  117. Loads of people commenting are talking country v. country. Yes, Haiti is probably full of corrupt politicians and, yes, America has helped out a bunch of countries but forget about countries and politicians: YOU'RE doing nothing while innocent people suffer and that can't be right.

Also, celebrity-bash all you want but Clooney, Madonna, et al. have millions of dollars out of their own pockets to help.

By the way, most people are donating to this site: http://www.dec.org.uk/ Which DOES NOT give the money to the Haiti government, it goes through DEC agencies on the ground to help the people directly. You've got no excuse now.

I am a Soldier, serving in Iraq on my third tour, for all of you who talk about Iraq like you know what the fuck is going on over here or what it is like, shut the fuck up, you’re fucking idiots. I get so tired of people, especially you European fucks, who have all this bad shit to say about America. I’ve been to most of Europe, and frankly, compared to America your countries suck balls. You know what’s wrong with the world? Everyone wants a hand out without lifting a finger to earn it, what the fuck has Haiti done to help themselves. Another thing, you black people who talk about how white America ruined your lives by taking you out of Africa (even though you have never even been there), go back to that shit hole anytime you want, no one is stopping you, I don’t owe you shit and neither does any other American. Out of all the people in this world who have ever been oppressed throughout history, why is it the African American expects a hand out over something that didn’t even happen to them during their lifetimes? Reparations, are you fucking kidding me??? I came from a poor family, I didn’t get a fucking handout, the great thing about America is that it doesn’t matter who you are, if you are willing to work hard, you can succeed. I made the choice to join the military, I earn my paycheck, and yes war fucking sucks. The military isn't the best or safest way to make a living, but lets face it, we cant all grow up to be rich, famous douchebag actors. I’m not against giving countries aid, I am against becoming their crutches, The people of Haiti should be happy with what they get, cause frankly no one owes them shit, and they sure haven’t earned shit.

    By anonymous, on January 26, 2010 13:09:13

  128. Um, everyone is talking about how Haiti isn't worthy of a donations and help during a time of need, but um ... isn't America more than 8 TRILLION dollars in debt from China and Japan and the debt is still going up.

So before you start saying who is WORTHY of a helping hand and who is not, if China and Japan decide that they're just in the mood to lend more money to America then I wonder who is going to be crying about how much AMERICA deserves money and help from other countries.

It kind of makes me sad that I live in America.

And don't try to tell me that it was the race riots that killed Detroit It was the fact that the big 3 auto companies that everyone in Detroit still begs you to support moved production to the southern states and Mexico to escape the unions. Then all the rich white people followed and those left in Detroit are a bunch of sorry fuckers who can't move on. The bankers are robbing US citizens in every way possible. They offer you credit cards with false promises attached, put you in debt then steal your job. Your son can help you get out of banking debt if he loses a leg stealing resources in the middle east for fascist corporations like Exxon and Shell who the president that was installed by the bankers helps to grow their monopolies. Your debt must never be reduced, you must be put in more debt if you're a USA citizen, just because.

  136. #134 New World Order? Are you Spencer Pratt?

To all the rednecks: the fact you talk about America as if it's the only superpower is hilarious. China's about to overtake you- if it hasn't already that is. Oh well, good while it lasted wasn't it?

NB- I don't hate the US as a country. I've been to NY and the people were very welcoming and friendly.

  140. I think its hilarious that those dumbasses are robbing the foreign aid trucks coming to help them as well as the food given to other survivors via foriegn aid and selling it on the black market. The only mistake was that earthquake didnt destryo the whole country.
