  1. is that how all 911 operators react?

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 11:59:55

  2. Okay, I don't think there was really a reason to release that call...

    By Rebecca, on January 8, 2010 12:01:21

  3. @anon: By being firm, insistent, and giving clear directions? Yeah. Because when people are all fucked up with panic they won't listen if you handle it any other way. There's only so much they can do for you over the phone, but what they can do is extremely important to do for the few minutes it takes for rescue to arrive.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 12:24:32

  4. how do you want they to react? like moms?

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 12:25:40

  5. Holy Crap. That was awful.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 12:33:30

  6. TMZ Fail.

    By Trax, on January 8, 2010 12:35:03

  7. That's fucked up. Die, TMZ.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 12:38:39

  8. I didn't listen to it but ew. Who the hell authorizes the release of tapes like this? Just curious.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 12:40:50

  9. No need, but the dude handled it like a pro.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 12:42:17

  10. why did I listen to that?

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 14:04:47

  11. Wow. That was rough, it made me tear up. It's not appropriate to release it but it does make you really feel for their loss. I wish them the best in their recovery.

    By Kasey, on January 8, 2010 14:33:02

  12. Poster 1, that 911 operator did nothing wrong.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 14:52:14

  13. It'll be on the evening news tomorrow night.

By All news organisations are unethical whores, on January 8, 2010 14:52:47

  14. Todd: Can you please get rid of that advertisement that goes on about dancing like the stars or whatever? Ads with noise are terrible.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 15:05:24

  15. I feel dirty. Why did I click? No mother should have to go through that and then to have it shared round the web. I suck for listening?

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 15:09:41

  16. Why, why, why isn't this stuff private? Should not be released!!

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 15:23:16

  17. I refuse to click on that and give TMZ even more traffic. Releasing that tape is just despicable.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 15:27:18

  18. I can't imagine an operator acting any other way. He's trying to help save a life over the phone. Someone has to be calm and clear and give direct instructions. I hope they are all like this man.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 15:32:05

  19. It is public so ...I listened and stopped as he (husband) was doing chest compresionsand hte poor mom was totally distraught.

WORD to the parents of the rich and famous entertainers.
Kidnap and bring them to rehab. That is better than death. Do something, anything radical.
Britnay Murphy has some illness but lack of food and precript meds get you all the time.

The Casey Johnson girl...though her family tried, and they do miss her and def. wanted their child/sister to live, they could have done something crazy like send private palne and armed guards with the parents, grab her and go...off to private Swiss clinic.

BritneySpears was going to kill herself or od and her father stepped way late in the game and publically humliated her, the works, declared her insane and child like to take over her life.
I do not like her,but it saved her...somewhat.Least hse is alive now and they are still working on her.
Lynsday Lohan should next on Grim Reaper's List. Amy Whinehouse, I believe is half embammed at this point.

    Precript meds,illegal meds usally win.

    Bottom line.

  20. The mom was her enabler. Lived with her and her drug pusher. Sad but she was more than happy to push her daughter into sickness to collect a big paycheck.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 17:19:46

  21. i think the 911 operator was fantastic, compared to some of the other stuff I've heard. I think Brittanys' mother was the best she could do at that moment, which was pretty good. And yes, it was unessaccary to hear, but I love this stuff. Why do I look at this site. also, no ones really taked about her character Luann. I know Luann and I don't even live in Texas

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 19:32:37

  22. The media (TMZ especially) have not a ounce of shame.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 20:17:51

  23. Why would this get circulated on the internet?! seriously sick.

    By Vicster, on January 8, 2010 22:57:43

  24. amerikkka rocks!!! i hope we all can enjoy the extreme grief and utter shock of a mother ("my daughter's passed out) whose child has more or less died in front of her. kudos.

    By anonymous, on January 8, 2010 23:48:02

  25. #19. Bottom line. You're an idiot.

    By anonymous, on January 9, 2010 03:24:22

  26. 911 calls are public record.
    Death is part of life.
Enjoy everyday like it's your last.

    By Lips, on January 9, 2010 05:30:20

  27. I feel awful after having listened to that. The poor mom. After going through all that, why did TMZ have to make her pain public? It was wrong of me to have listened, and it was wrong of idlyitw to have published the link.

    By anonymous, on January 9, 2010 06:28:40

  28. I have a few things to say. That operator on th line was EXCELLENT. He really held his Authority and composure and was steady in his instuction.
    A TOTAL PROFESSIONAL.

    2) I think it is perfectly fine to release audio like this because it is a fact of life, it makes you THINK and I actually learned a few things about CPR from it.

There is nothing wrong with what TMZ did. People need to quit being so emotional and more realistic in their approach to life.

I truly feel for her mother though and hope she has a good support system to help her get through this.

    By Kayla, on January 9, 2010 07:46:26

  29. what no autopsy pics?
    tmzfuckinfail.

    By anonymous, on January 9, 2010 08:01:23

  30. I hate myself for listening to that :(((

    By anonymous, on January 9, 2010 09:36:47

  31. @28...Kayla, so if your Mom should die you would be OK with the 911 call being released? The public has no reasonable NEED to hear these tapes and they should change the law so that they are private. I have tried and cannot think of one situation in which the public needs to hear what goes on in a 911 tape. To have your medical records be confidential but then have 911 phone calls made public makes no sense whatsoever.

Everyone, just stop visiting TMZ. That is the only way they will cease to exist.

    By AJB, on January 9, 2010 09:39:02

  32. I am narcissistic enough (and too lazy to spell check) to believe that every lady gaga and brittany murphy post is for me personally. I'm an aries, what can i say? thank you todd =)

By Giraffe Tamer, on January 9, 2010 10:51:35

  33. The operator is the voice of authority when we find ourselves in these awful suituations and cannot think in a logical manner. They NEED to be firm in order to help us to what we need to do. I think he did a great job. I am ahsamed of myself for listening to this recording. It's awful that these things are made public. I swear to God I will never cross that line and invade someone's "greif" that way. That poor woman...if you don't cry when you hear it then you are a monster...and we are monsters for listening to it. These things have no place on the internet. RIP Britney. Oh and #19...go fuck yourself.

    By anonymous, on January 9, 2010 15:38:31

  34. it is completely dispicable that this is available for the public's "pleasure". i can't for the life of me imagine any way that this can be used constructively. i love to follow the gossip as much as (nay, MORE than)anyone, but this is appalling. lose someone you love to a crime and fathom the idea of that person's last moments or the newest moments of someone knowing their loved one is gone and try to swallow the fact that this can be fodder for the public. something has to change about this.

    By karen, on January 9, 2010 16:04:45

  35. i very nearly clicked on that link, and then i was overcome with shame. i don't know how the people at TMZ can sleep at night.

    By annabelle, on January 10, 2010 04:17:53

  36. I see nothing wrong with the release. If it is not for you dont listen to it.

    By anonymous, on January 10, 2010 07:58:16

  37. I am a doc but this made me cry

    By Catherine, on January 10, 2010 10:15:23

  38. Let's see...her mom was totally behind her being anorexic and marrying a douche bag. Now we are supposed to feel sorry for her? She shoved her daughter into an unhealthy lifestyle. If she wasn't so fucking self-centered her daughter might be alive.

    By anonymous, on January 10, 2010 17:06:26

  39. In response to all the previous posts, I worked as a 911 operator and I think this 911 operator handled things wonderfully. It is important to remember that as the 911 operator is communicating with the caller, the operator is also typing a description to the EMT who is racing to the scene so they know what to expect. The operator needs to extract as much information as possible.

    By anonymous, on January 10, 2010 17:36:29

  40. in germany they played a part of the 911 tape on tv. you had no decision before they played the short part that was so wrong!

    By anonymous, on January 10, 2010 23:59:58

  41. Funniest thing I've ever heard! Too bad her wuss husband did slow limp-wristed compressions, she might have made it if a real man had been there.

    By anonymous, on January 11, 2010 02:28:34

  42. Meh, I've heard and seen worse...the question I have is why the mother keeps calling the husband "Baby" all the time? My guess is that the husband and mom were fucked up out of their brains as well during this needless tragedy. And i agree with #41 on the compression issue.

By Docter Love, on January 11, 2010 04:01:21

  43. One day, TMZ will act as law enforcement and surveillence, you mark my words. 50 years from now, remember this post and say 'that bitch was right!'

    By mutterhals, on January 11, 2010 04:38:42

  44. Screw all that bullshit. She was a fucking junky! She fucking died because that's what happens to junkies - end of fucking story! Does the truth bother you? Am I supposed to feel sorry for her because she up and died? I don't give a shit and I found the phone call amusing as hell! I'm still laughing...

    By anonymous, on January 11, 2010 10:52:41

  45. I won't listen to the tape because that is sad!!

When my grandma had a heart attack I called an ambulance and I was hystericall, totally desperate telling them to hurry and the idiot fuck who answer had the nerve to tell me: "Don't yell at me!! What was I suppossed to do then? They should understand that the ones making an emergency call are not in their senses and they shouldn't take yelling personal.
