I don't think he deserves all the hatred. He was a young actor who scored a few notable minor roles (Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter) and was looking for a big break. He signed up for the Twilight movies without knowing about the crazy fans and has been on record criticizing the books.
Maybe he is gay - who cares? It's all the Twatlighters (and their crazy middle aged Mums) who threaten scratch your eyes out if you dare say a bad word about the guy. The fact that he goes out in public with an ugly beard and unwashed greasy hair suggests that he isn't your typical over-groomed publicity whore.
He seems a bit puzzled and bemused by the whole stalker-obsession thing, and doesn't seem to do much to encourage it.
He still doesn't look very much more manlier. He looks like RP with a scruffy beard. In fact, I'd take issue with his claim that "I always looked like a girl up until a few years ago": he has the time-frame all wrong.
I would just like to state for the record that face/body hair is UGLY as fuck and should be banned on both sexes. Shave your face, pits, crotch and any other area that has a massive overgrowth. It's disgusting!
