Bottom line, here's what happened. Wyclef saw an opportunity to launder funds through a charity without having to pay taxes on it. He figured that Haiti wouldn't have any kind of nasty ass disaster, so why not do it. Unfortunately for him, there was the earthquake, and now his financial misdealings are being exposed. What's more likely? That Wyclef Jean is an evil scumbag who pinches from his own charity for personal profit? Or that he made poor choices in who was running his foundation's finances? C'mon, he's a musician. This is a high-profile target for the IRS, to "send a message" during this, the American Tax season. While the foundation is likely guilty of things that are punishable by the IRS, they're in good company. Even from an accounting standpoint, far worse things have been perpetuated. But those issues are completely unrelated to Wyclef's character - which is what this story seems primarily focused on tarnishing. He said it himself, if you wanna give, just give it doesn't matter to whom.
