Well said, sir. Gay folks get a bad rap from a very vocal 1% of their "population." I have two lesbian couples who are very dear friends and while they do want equal treatment under the law, they think people like Perez and Gaga are exploitative cunts who make a very good living by pissing people off and hiding behind minority status. Meanwhile, 99% of gay people just want to go about their lives unmolested. Hell, 3 out of the 4 of the above mentioned lesbos are Republicans, fer Christsake; they think "Glee" is childish and boring.
Aw Dude, blame this on the fucking Gleek-heads (which include middle-aged straight women who are also Twilight fans) and not just the gays. I'm gay and Glee sucks, as does all the music they have on the show. Commenter #5 is right on.
As if "Glee" is anything more than a for-profit cash generator for a huge TV network...like every other TV program. Every musician should feel honored to have their work be "Glee"-ified and turned into another mincing piece of Broadway fappery so Fox can add another truckload of cash to the pile.
i never watch that damn show. however, i agree that there is a segment of the gay community that is beyond annoying. just because i want to slap this glee creator for being a bitchy little douche does not mean i am a homophobe.
Right on, Todd. It is exactly why people dislike gay people. It is these overly emotional drama queens that get most of the press and this is how they behave. They try to force their gay thing on everyone else. Too bad gay people aren't shown in a better light because I guarantee you they'd be treated like everyone else. Gays like this Glee guy are the reason why anti-gay sentiment continues.
were they "hipster twats" in '03 when Youth & Young Manhood" came out? That album rocked and they were alternative darlings. Unfortunately for the arbiters of cool, they have had some success and label backing and the haters have arrived. I'm sure #17 & #4 know so many cooler bands no one has ever heard of but thats for a reason. They probably really suck or are to artsy to matter to anyone who isn't sleaved and smoking a American Spirit.
I am all for people introducing their kids to music. I am, however, not on board with introducing kids to music through singers. There is a difference. Kids growing up wishing to be singers and not creators of music is the reason we have America('s best karaoke singer)n Idol blowing vaguely musical farts into the airspace of the world. Kid's won't want to pick up an instrument when they hear Lady Gaga. They'll just be introduced to the idea of liking what is popular at an earlier-than-normal age. Lady Gaga's music is an afterthought at best. Same with some of the other artists on that list. Kids don't see that and wish to be musical. They see that and wish to be the center of attention, no matter what it takes - and that is dangerous advice to a young mind.
Oh, and to #22. If you like KOL, who really gives a shit what other people think of them? They don't need you to bat for them, they're adults. You claim that you find it unfair that some people have decided to negatively judge a band that you like, so you return the favor by passing equally negative and misguided judgments upon people you don't know. That's just as stupid as people taking time out of their day to hate on KOL in the first place. If care about anyone's opinion on music other than your own you are missing the point of music completely.
The funniest part is how this Murphy clown tries so hard to pretend he's in this business to help little kids appreciate music and "the arts". It couldn't possibly have anything to do with the giant paychecks he gets, nope, it's sheer good-hearted benevolence. Give everyone a break with the butt-hurt gay defensiveness already and quit pretending to care about "the children". Seven year olds have no business booty-popping to "Single Ladies" anyway.
Saw KOL, was pumped for the show, they took the stage and were total preening douchebags, think they're the shit, went home, deleted their MP3, don't need to give those twats more plays... BUT, spot on here, this Ryan Murphy needs a beatdown, not because he's gay, because he's an asshole. Hey Ryan, Perez, et. al. the world owes you nothing, deal with it. You're gay, you don't deserve a cookie for it any more than I deserve a cookie for being straight.
99% of the world hates you. Not because you're gay, but because you do shit like this.
No, actually you'll find that it is because they're gay. You'll find that most people on Earth find the idea of two men sucking each other's cocks while wiggling their asshole in the other man's face repulsive and disgusting. They also wont really like the idea of one man anally fucking another til ejaculation and then a third man sucks the sperm out of the other man's asshole with a straw and then proceeds to french kiss the first man and pass on the sperm to the other man's mouth. There's also something called "snowballing" that they do. And this is all just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what these people get up to. The fact we've been bullied into thinking there's anything normal or accpetable about this is one of the greatest hoaxes perpetrated on us by the atheist left and their psychologically disturbed minions. You'll find that in most other countries people aren't so naive nor stupid.
I initially liked Glee, but thought it jumped the shark with the Lady Gaga / Madonna theme shows . My criticism of Ryan Murphy's point of view on this I thought would be more memorable if I take a page out of the Glee writer's handbook Scene: Ryan Murphy's Broadway style makeup mirror in his West Hollywood condominium. Ryan : Breaks nail while think of the Kings of Leon, Furrows brow , then exclaims" Naughty of me to wrinkle up so , might make my face too wrinckly !!
"Precious , Precious , daddy needs his little lovums right now!" Enter young man from that resembles Chris Colfer .
ok why dont you get the whole story? Glee gets turned down ALL THE TIME yet they dont say anything. the reason Ryan said something this time is becuase KOL gloated about it and then dissed the show!! any person gay or straight would want to defent their work. go fuckyourself IDLYITW
Wow. Ryan Murphy may have behaved like a total asshole on this and several other occasions, but I really don't understand why this has to devolve into a conversation about "those gays".
Being gay is hard enough due to comments like this, nobodies looking for a fucking cookie, they're looking for the same equal share as everyone else. Ryan Murphy is whiny and gay and Donald Trump is straight and a moron. Perez Hilton is obnoxious and the writer of this website is a racist idiot.
I think #30 took a long time to type that post, what with stroking himself the whole time and everything. I haven't yet mastered the art of one hand typing myself, but I'll get there one day. Feel free to move to any one of those countries you mentioned.
Seriously, #30. Straight people do similar shit. Anyway, I think they are both ridiculous. I agree that Ryan Murphy is making gay men look like whiny bitches and that Followill sounds pretty homophobic. I still like Glee and I still like Kings of Leon, but not for anyone's personalities.
Ryan Murphy is a pretentious ass if he thinks Glee is "introducing kids to music." As if kids hear NO MUSIC ANYWHERE except until that glorious day that Glee appeared on TV??? And Glee only has a following because it is music that everyone already knows! There is NO original music on that show! A MUCH BETTER show would be a show about a band that starts in a garage, gets local play, gets local airplay, gets signed to small label, gets a following, hits the big time - and, along the way, REFUSES to sell out to egomaniacs like this Murphy dude. (A corollary is people like Eminem talking about his "art" or Axel complaining about "the system" and still getting his cut of $75 concert tickets).
Seriously. If you want to support music and art, go see your local bands and local dance groups and local art exhibits.
#30 (the second time) If you want people to "kindly fuck off" regarding your opinions, maybe don't post them on a public forum at IDLYITW of all places.
hey fuck off. It is offensive to claim that the actions of some attention whores have anything to do with the hatred gay people face in society. Bigots don't like gay people because they are ignorant and raised by hypocritical "Christian" parents
i'm straight, and i'm pretty sure it's not 99% of the world that hates gays. maybe an ignorant, douchey, unhappy-with-their-own-lives 18% at best. and i wouldn't be surprised if half of them were secretly gay themselves.
I think what these Hollywood gays want to accomplish is for there to be kissing and love scenes on regular TV and in the movies and for everyone to treat these as normal and beautiful (or hot, depending if it's a love or sex scene) and not give it any thought that it's two dudes doing it. Well, I'm sorry, but that is not going to happen. Gays will never reach such status for the simple fact that regular people have a gag reflex and will throw up upon such sight, at least the men will. It sure gives me the willies, like a shit eating video or a bug eating contest. I find it repulsive and I am sure most other men do too. So, gays will always be a small minority and, as such, will not - and should not - be treated completely equal. Thank you for reading and fuck you.
46: fine. not all gays are like RM or are attention whores. But lumping all Christians together to prove a point and stretch the argument to yet another tired level? Lame.
Good Christian parents raise tolerant and loving children. Not all of us are uber-conservative or intolerant/racist. Get some perspective.
I am so sick of reading todd's vaguely-disguised homophobic statements. Being gay has nothing to do with someones choice to act like a choch...he constantly adds little anti-gay quips to his posts even when the subject matter has nothing to do with sexual preference. So misguided and so much more insecure. Hey let's just post soft porn and not accept anyone elses view on what is attractive or beautiful to others; if you disagree you're a FAG. Puke. I won't be reading again.
"Dear Gays, this is why 99% of the world hates you. Not because you're gay, but because you do shit like this. All the time. If you don't get your way, you throw a temper tantrum like a kid in the aisle at Target."
Thank you, Todd. Nobody in the history of speaking creatures has ever said anything truer. If I had the power to grant your wildest sexual fantasies with your most beloved broads, your wish would be my command.
49, you should just go ahead and come out of the closet now. you are so homophobic it's not even funny. obviously you must be hiding some deeply repressed feelings if you're so hung up about this. most men who are comfortable in their sexuality don't really give a shit about all of this.
Okay, I'm sure people say stuff like this all the time, and I don't care it gets posted or not. I've been reading this blog since it started, and I actually just realised how long that is. I've never minded the fact that this blog is offensive, but for the last little while I have found that it is becoming so blatantly homophobic and horrible to read. I'm actually feeling personally offended by the things I read and I am a.) a straight female and b.) not easily offended. So I think I'm going to stop reading this blog now.
I'm not complaining, because I no longer like it, and so I am going to stop reading it, end of story.
Thanks for the god knows how long worth of entertainment this blog has provided me over the years.
53, you present the same argument that's been killed a thousand times already: if you say something anti-gay, you must be gay and in the closet.
Get a grip. I suppose "your" masculinity allows you to enjoy watching two guys make out. I bet you masculinity is so strong, you even enjoy a gay porno now and then. Because, you know, you're a REAL man.
You're lying to yourself. Go to a gay porn site and watch some movies, then report back here. See if you're able to watch for 30 minutes and treat it no different than male/female interaction. Your natural response should be utter disgust. Doesn't mean you hate gays or want to beat up on some. But just like putting shit in your mouth, you should feel uncontrollably repulsed by it.
See, I was totally with you on Ryan Murphy being Queen Douche, but here's the thing: As a gay man, I'm pretty put off by the rest of your post.
The Kings of Leon had an absolutely fantastic response that didn't label us all as whiners and complainers. They didn't even mention the fact that he was gay. They simply called him out for lashing out at them inappropriately.
Just like you're lashing out inappropriately at gay people. We're not all to blame for this asshole's antics. Go fuck yourself.
56, then maybe it's time the gay community begin to speak the fuck out against the drama queen behavior because it brings shame to you all and it is detrimental to straight/gay relations. I don't hear any of it. All I hear and see is that feminine tutti-fruity side on TV. I applaud a gay man like Andrew Sullivan (political analyst) who carries himself like a man. Because, you know, just because you suck dick, doesn't mean you should wear pink, have a cut out on your ass, and act 3 times more feminine than a female.
#57 Sorry you cant have one without the other. Gay=Petty nuerotic BITCH(Worst of womens' beviors)=DISGRACE. One does not exist without the other. TRUTH.
Thanks to all the people who are calling Todd on his blatant homophobia. It's nice to know there are some people who don't immediately jump on to the hatred bandwagon.
It is absolutely unconscionable that this kind of ridiculous, uninformed and ignorant homophobia is allowed to persist. 99% of the world hate gays? How have all of you become filled with so much hate?
To #57: I'm not the ambassador to homosexuality. I don't have to tell every other gay person to stop wearing pink and acting how they act because it makes you uncomfortable. It's not my job, and it's none of my concern.
Some men are naturally effeminate, and others like to posture. I'm not going to weed through them. Just like you see the worst of us screaming the loudest out in the media, we see the same thing of you. How else should someone like me take it when he's linked to this site and sees the charming statistic that 99 percent of people hate him? Hyperbole or not, it's pretty jarring, especially since I'm being linked from a site that seems pretty all right with gay people.
I'm not complaining. I've found the writer funny when I've been here, when he's not rallying against the queers and the evils of Lady Gaga (I don't. fucking. care.), but if this is the way he really feels, I don't have to come here again. There's no need for me to worry about it beyond that. It would just please me, even to the tiniest degree, if some of you realized how incredibly petty and stupid you sounded.

Thanks to all the people who are calling Todd on his blatant homophobia. It's nice to know there are some people who don't immediately jump on to the hatred bandwagon.

#56 was no hissy fit. he was damn right
anyway, Todd may be straight, just as any other gossip columnist.

It is absolutely unconscionable that this kind of ridiculous, uninformed and ignorant homophobia is allowed to persist.
99% of the world hate gays? How have all of you become filled with so much hate?
By Laura, on January 27, 2011 10:28:28
