  1. Don't even pretend those songs are similar. The Bellamy Bros. are poor and old and no one gives a shit about them. They are clearly looking for a pay day. If I were the judge I would tell them to get the fuck out.

Todd, I know you hate Britney but don't be a retard.
BTW the new radiohead album is tits.

  2. It's entirely possible that the song is a ripoff. Shitney doesn't write her own stuff because "that thar writin' is too hard fer me", so the ghost songwriters they hire probably just lifted an older tune, thinking no one would notice. Seeing as how the average shitney fan doesn't notice he/she is drooling all over themselves, they were almost right...

  3. Holy crap; take a look at the 50 lbs of makeup on her face; there's less makeup on actors in John Waters films. She better watch it; if twitney ever tripped & fell into a body of water, she'd sink face first...

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 03:48:18

  4. "If I told you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me" is a line stolen from Groucho Marx joke, so did the Belamy brothers pay Groucho first????

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 03:55:45

  5. She's look a little mongo in that picture.

    By mutterhals, on February 21, 2011 04:52:20

  6. Wow, look at those eyes. It's like they put makeup on a cow.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 04:57:48

  7. Ehhh, using the single line might fall within fair use bounds, especially since, as #4 points out, there's prior art, not to mention. The Bieber song, however, is on much shakier ground, lifting the entirety of the chorus in sequence. That shit is unbelievable.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 05:58:40

  8. ...er, I was going to say "not to mention that it's been absorbed into broader culture as a bad pick-up line."

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 06:00:24

  9. Huh, Todd sure seems to know A LOT about gay music.

    Todd is gay.

By Steve Drill, on February 21, 2011 06:03:58

  10. The songs are nothing alike, and as it was previously posted, the Brothers did not invent that line, Groucho Marx did. In this case, Britney did nothing wrong.

    By mary, on February 21, 2011 06:12:07

  11. The Cardigans were credited for the Beiber song. The songwriters are getting paid. Not a rip off.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 07:00:49

  12. You do know they pay for sampling rights - even then look what happened to the Verve, who used 'too much' of a Stones song they had licensed to sample and ended up owing at least 100% of the proceeds of their one and only hit.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 07:21:47

  13. This isn't the first time she's done this. "Oops I Did it Again" directly rips off the melody from "Woman in Love" by Barbra Streisand.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 07:24:46

  14. Someone should do a line by line examination of all the Bellamy Brothers songs and music to see if every one of them is completely original. Let the ancestors of anyone they copied know so that they can sue the BB's if any of them are still alive. This is just so ridiculous.

    By David, on February 21, 2011 08:04:44

  15. If only she still had a nose bone, eh?

Seriously, draw two circles. Next, draw a vertical line between the two circles.

See how the line 'brings' the two circles closer?

And that is why all of the noseless women in Hollywood have a bad case of either 'pieFace' or 'cowFace'..... (Brit obviously having a baaaad case of cowFace)

Ease up on the nosejobs, folks.

  16. That song & video is a laughably awful piece of shit.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 09:32:34

  17. Todd, I'll never forgive me for leading me to listen to any of a Justin Beiber song but that's totally the Cardigans song.

Still pissed that I can't truthfully say anymore that I've never heard anything of Beiber's. You rat bastard.

    By duder, on February 21, 2011 10:03:47

  18. The Bellamy Brothers should realize that every country music song is a ripoff of David Alan Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name"

I think the bbros are just looking to get a little strange off britney

By World Class Dick, on February 21, 2011 10:14:05

  19. britney doesnt even sing her own songs on her cds so what makes anyone thinks she has any say in who writes them?

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 10:43:36

  20. They are NOTHING ALIKE!! Just because they have a few of the same lyrics? If that were the case, a lot of people would be getting sued. This is ridiculous.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 11:08:44

  21. What are all those plastic tubes on her fingers?

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 11:13:17

  22. Man, that redneck trash looks inbred.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 11:19:13

  23. What else would you expect from a no-talent moron ? But idiots will still buy her shit no matter what it sounds like. She could put out a CD about her pissing in 10 different gas station bathrooms and the idiots would still buy it.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 11:50:53

  24. 17 - duder

It's inevitable that you'll eventually hear a Justin Bieber song. Consider it a pandemic.

For you, it was a YouTube link.

For me, it was getting hit by a car, driven by a halfwit soccer mom, playing Justin Bieber.

I fell on the car's hood and all I heard was 'baby, baby, baby, ohhhhh'......

    NO JOKE.
Be happy, no one drove a rolling slumber party into you. ;)

    By joejoe, on February 21, 2011 12:32:16

  25. Bellamy bros should be sued for calling their shitty song a "rock ballad"

    There's 2 bellamy bros
There were 2 people in Milli Vanilli
Sue them! They ripped off the bbros act!

    By i Am Number 4 (inches), on February 21, 2011 12:39:28

  26. First time I hear a JB song... thanks for ruining my life.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 13:08:44

  27. Total rip-off (and DAMN - has someone notified the Caridgans yet re: Beiber?). What else can you expect from a no-talent commercial generation? It's all shit. These "pop" stars are just figureheads for corporations to market a brand. It's all shit.

    By bitingontinfoil, on February 21, 2011 13:18:08

  28. Wait... why wasn't bieber sued yet? There was no hiding it with that chorus o.0

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 14:18:56

  29. Sorry, Britney has an original hit here.

The Bellamy Bros have no case!

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 14:43:59

  30. I'm surprised anybody would admit to authoring that cheesy, smarmy piece of dreck from the 70s. And Slutney's version sounds even worse.

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 18:09:53

  31. WTF are the plastic tubes on her hands? Does she just carry them around all the time so she's prepped for her next overdose?

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 18:11:40

  32. Wow, so many Shitbree defenders. Who'd a thunk it?

    By anonymous, on February 21, 2011 22:39:35

  33. I suspect that everything of Britney's that has been released on record since 2004 or so is probably using computer sampling of her voice from back when she could still sing (a bit).

That way, they don't have to worry about her in the studio. Of course, they have her show up to the studio occasionally so it doesn't look too suspicious.

Thus, Britney probably has no idea that this is a rip-off. (For all I know, she may not be aware of her last few albums, apart from having some people with video cameras shoot some of those video-thingies for some reason).

    By anonymous, on February 22, 2011 01:28:20

  34. 21: she shoots paint from them. It's terrible.

    By anonymous, on February 22, 2011 01:32:28

  35. This has happened before, back to the time when George Harrison was sued for "unsubconsciously plagarazing" a line from the song, "He's So Fine", and using it in his, "My Sweet Lord." Long story short, it wound through courts for years, and he wound up paying about %500K. As one wag said, George should have bought the rights to He's So Fine, then sued himself.

By The Ghost Of Michael O'Donoghue, on February 22, 2011 14:42:49

  36. The title is a rip off, not the other lyrics or melody, so they probably don't have a case. The Bellamy Brothers song is what I though of when I first heard Britney's song.

By Willie Nelson, on February 23, 2011 15:18:14

  37. Doesn't anyone hear a sampling of another song-not the hick song but another one?? It's driving me crazy..'Cause this feels like paradise...' is from another song. WHAT IS IT???

And, I thought this video was a commercial.
