When you're no talent hacks making 100 Million a year, which you promptly shield from taxes in your own charitable foundation, it's easy to donate a few hundred thousand.
$500k to them is like $20 to the rest of us, so it's not THAT wildly generous. It's still good of them to do it, but the rest of us don't expect publicity and to be lavished with attention every time we donate a small portion of our income, so I don't know why they want Sainthood every time they do! I'm far more impressed with the wealthy who donate anonymously or quietly because they clearly aren't doing it merely for the publicity.

I'm a teacher, and my checking account has $2000 in it. They are worth well over 100 million, but we'll just go with the even number. This is the equivalent of me donating $10. I gave $20. Can I get a humanitarian award? It's still nice, but get over them! And why is it always announced? They need to get over themselves.
