Beating out the likes of Justin Timberlake and Nathan Fillion, Ryan Reynolds has signed on to play Green Lantern. Total Film reports:

For those of you out of the loop, Green Lantern (aka test pilot Hal Jordan) is a superhero who draws his abilites from a special power ring, which allows him to do various cool things, including fly, create forcefields, and so on. Oh, and he's also allergic to the colour yellow. We kid you not.

Awesome. This movie's sure to be great. A two hour superhero movie where Ryan Reynolds spends most of his time avoiding people with bananas and Curious George books. On the brightside, they can save a lot of money on effects, because I assume it's pretty cheap when a criminal can hold up a bank with a yellow piece of construction paper.

Scarlett Johansson, 23, and her fiance of six months, Ryan Reynolds, 31, were married this weekend in Canada. Awww.Us Magazine says:

The wedding took place Saturday evening at a remote wilderness resort outside Vancouver. Guests included Scarlett's mother, Melanie Sloan, and her brother, Adrian Johansson. Johansson, 23, and Reynolds, 31, who had been dating since Spring 2007, announced their engagement on May 5, the day the actress flashed a three-carat diamond ring estimated to be worth about $30,000 at the Met Costume Ball Gala."

Three carats? That can't be right. Scarlett's rack is worth a good solid five.

A day after her engagment to actor Ryan Reynolds was announced, Scarlett Johansson wasted no time in showing off her new ring. Oooohhh, aaahhhh! The Daily Mail reports:

The Lost In Translation actress looked delighted as she showed off her new diamond ring for the first time as she attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York City last night. The 23-year-old and Canadian beau Reynolds, 31, started dating in March 2007 - a month after the Just Friends actor ended his three-year engagement to singer Alanis Morissette."

My dating philosophy greatly differs from that of Ryan Reynolds, but hey, who am I to make fun of young love? Scarlett Johansson has only rode every actor in Hollywood like the Kentucky Derby, this is sure to last! Congratulations!

NYDN is reporting that Scarlett Johansson is close to announcing her engagment to Ryan Reynolds. The couple have been dating for nine months:

The couple have been an item for almost a year. Reynolds ended his engagement to fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette last February, and by April he was spotted on a date with Johansson at the Odeon in Tribeca, looking very much in love."
